The Mega Timeline Continues A Few Years After X And Y

[Pokemon MMD] When Did Madagascar Come Out?

Games: Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun, Ultra Moon

We continue forward on the Mega Timeline to Pokemon Sun and Moon, plus their Ultra versions. How do we know a few years have passed? Unfortunately, Matsumiyas tweet stops at X and Y, but luckily, a couple of characters from former games appear in Sun and Moon, helping give us an idea of where these games fit into the series.

Most notably, Sina and Dexio two assistants to X and Ys Professor Sycamore appear in the game. Theyre on the search for the Legendary Zygarde, and, after you battle them, Dexio comments: This battle reminded me of us in the past and that group of five young trainers. The five young trailers hes referring to are seemingly the five main adventure friends in X and Y.

Sun and Moon also feature the Battle Tree, where trainers Red and Blue make a cameo appearance. Yes, the main characters from the original games return, and their new avatars are aged up fairly significantly. They should have according to this guesstimated timeline aged around 17 years since the events of Red/Blue/Green/Yellow, which seems reasonable.

There are also various other trainers from the other games that appear at the Battle Tree, including: the second boss of Team Phasma, Colress Pokemon Champion Cynthia, who appeared in Diamond and Pearl, as well as Black and White 2 and Grimsley, a member of the Unova Elite Four .

Changes From Gold Silver And Crystal

  • A new event involving Giovanni, Silver, and Celebi was added.
  • Brock, Sabrina and Blaine are now wearing completely different clothing.
  • The Sinnoh Gym Leaders and Cynthia now appear as minor characters.
  • Red uses a Lapras instead of an Espeon when the player challenges him.
  • After beating Red, Professor Oak will give the player character any one of the Kanto starters, while Steven will give any one of the Hoenn starters.
  • Johto starters in Heart Gold and SoulSilver.

    Single-player, multiplayer

How Pokemon Gold And Silver Perfected The Formula

Difficult second album syndrome? Nah, Pokémon Gold and Silver are brave and brilliant…

This article comes from Den of Geek UK.

With a bit of time to kill before Pokémon Sword and Shield come out, Den of Geek is taking a stroll down memory lane and replaying all the classic games in the iconic RPG series. For our second trip back into the Poké-experiences of yore, its time look back at Pokémon Gold and Silver.

Continuing the trend that Pokémon Red andBlue started, Pokémon Gold and Silver launched in Japan first before hitting Australia and the US before finally arriving in the UK and the rest of Europe . The games were immensely popular, with their sales exceeding 23 million units, according to a stat that did the rounds in 2010.

If you do dust off your old Game Boy Color cartridge of Goldor Silver, you might find that it still loads up fine, but has lost the ability to retain save files. This, according to a cursory glance at the internet, is down to the time-measuring chip in the cartridge, which manages the day/night cycle in the game but only lasts for 5-10 years before giving up the ghost. The first step in fixing this issue seems to involve picking up a soldering iron, but before you do that, please be aware that Goldand Silverare also available rather cheaply on the Nintendo 3DS virtual console in a seemingly unaltered fashion. Now that weve found a version of the game we can actually play, lets get cracking

The Best Kind Of Fan Service

    Silver & Feraligatr

Take care: this section involves spoilers on a 17-year-old game! Pokemon Gold and Silver not only included its own full-length story in Johto, but also completely incorporated the Kanto region itself. You think youve beaten the game, only to realize you are only halfway through it. Its time to go back to your favorite areas from the first generation, re-imagined in beautiful color.

This was fan service done right. The shoutouts to both the original trilogy and the anime were perfectly executed. The final climatic battle against Red, the player character from the first generation, was nothing short of epic. Hell, they even gave Red a Pikachu as a nice shout out to the anime. And not to mention that this battle was challenging, something some of the newer games are definitely lacking.

What makes the addition of Kanto in Gold and Silver truly impressive is its development story. The late Nintendo president Satoru Iwata flexed his programming prowess and added this entire region into the game by himself, in his spare time. Not to mention that the game itself was already being developed by a small team of only four programmers. If thats not dedication to your craft, Im not sure what is.

Pokemon Gold and Silver are available now on the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console for $9.99 each on the eShop.

Sold in March, 2021 for $17,100

As Pokemon skyrocketed in popularity over the years, one character became almost synonymous with the franchise as its de facto mascot.

Much of Pikachus popularity originates from the first episode of the Pokemon anime series entitled Pokemon I Choose You! when the main protagonist of the series, Ash Ketchum, a trainer, receives Pikachu as his Pokemon from Professor Oak.

However, when exposed to a Thunderstone, the lovable, yellow, furry, rodent-like creature evolves into the final form of Raichu.

Raichu looks quite similar to Pikachu, but with a few distinct characteristics, namely its tail, ears, and dark coloration of the tip of its paws.

    The Set That Everyones After

my pokemon soul silver team by ThePontusAndersson on DeviantArt

Long story short, 1st Edition means the first run of cards for that release. Each 1st Edition card released gets a neat little stamp, just below the featured Pokémon, to signify its 1st Edition status. That little stamp is key, as it separates 1st Edition from lesser sought-after sets. Its important to remember that immediately following Pokémons inaugural 1999 release, there were a couple of aesthetic tweaks made, tweaks that werent reflected on future releases thus the emergence of Shadowless and Unlimited. These factors make the first run of 1999 cards super scarce, and if weve learned anything in the hobby, scarcity typically translates to desirability and yes, value.

The king of Pokémon, which some even refer to as the 1952 Mickey Mantle of the trading card game, is Charizard. Commanding upwards of $20,000 and beyond, Charizards value, and that of 1st Edition cards in general, seems to only increase. But dont worry, you can still get your hands on 1st Edition boxes it will only cost you around a casual $50,000, while individual packs can be yours for around $800 apiece.
