Pokemon Type Weaknesses And Strengths Chart Explained
Despite the table above, there is actually much more to type effectiveness than meets the eye. For example:
- Super effective moves will deal double the damage, whereas weak moves will deal half. There are also a few moves that will deal no damage at all, such as normal-type attacks against ghost-types.
- Dual-types also play an important role. Dual-type Pokemon, as the name suggests, have two types. If the move you are using is effective against both the opposing Pokemons typing, it will deal 4x the damage. Conversely, if the move is weak against both, then it will be just 1/4 of the overall damage.
The best example of a super-effective type attack is using a water attack against a rock and/or ground type. In this instance, Geodude would be 4x more susceptible against any water Pokemon attacks directed at it.
The opposite of this would occur when a Fairy-type move is used a mon like Heatran, which is a dual steel/fire-type. This would result in just 1/4 of the damage.
Learning all of these strengths and weaknesses will undoubtedly take time, but utilizing our guide here when in doubt will help you on your way to becoming Galars number one trainer in the region!

With Normal moves, then, your goal should be to go all out and try to finish off the opponent with a powerful neutral STAB. Youre not going to be exploiting any weaknesses here.

Every Pokmon Type Weaknesses Explained: Which Is Best Against Which
Pokémon battles are strategy-based puzzles, and understanding type weaknesses can be the difference between success and defeat in a critical match.
Picking the correct types for a team is a big part of the strategy in Pokémon games. A team made up of a single type can be vulnerable to attacks that type is weak against, leading to a total-party knockout. Because of this, having a wide variety of Pokémon types can provide stability and allow players to better create battle strategies. This is especially important when preparing to go up against type-focused Gyms. To help create a well-balanced team, its best to know each Pokémon types weaknesses.
Pokémon types come into play in several ways. Each species has a type attached, like Charmander being a Fire-Type Pokémon, but there are also types attached to Pokémon moves, like Earthquake being an Earth-type move. Moves that match a Pokémons species type deal bonus damage , but most Pokémon also have the ability to learn moves outside of their species type. For example, Charmander can learn the Flying-type move Acrobatics, and Pikachu can learn the Steel-type move Iron Tail. While Electric-type moves dont affect Ground-type Pokémon, Steel-type moves do, and Electric-type moves are super effective against Water-types, which resist Steel. By balancing movesets out with a wide range of different types, players can take advantage of a Pokémons species type and stand up against moves its weak against.

Pokmon Go: Type Strengths And Weaknesses Explained
Each Pokémon featured in Pokémon GO falls under one of a total of 18 categories or, as the game calls them, types. All of the attacks and moves in Pokémon GO also fall under one type each. A Pokémon can have one or two types, and the type a Pokémon belongs to goes on to determine a number of things about that Pokémon, from what types of Pokémon it is strong and weak against and what kinds of moves it has to where the Pokémon can be found in the real world and how effective the Pokémon is in battle.
Each type of Pokémon and attack is strong against some types, weak against some and neutral against others. While a Pokémons type has a lot to do with where that specific Pokémon can be found in the real world and what kinds of attacks it is weak against, it is the types of each of the Pokémons two attacks that ultimately determine what types of Pokémon it is strong against and what types of Pokémon it is weak against.
Like the Pokémon anime and games, Pokémon GO features all 18 currently existing types of Pokémon and Pokémon attacks/moves. These types are Fire, Grass, Water, Ice, Rock, Ground, Flying, Psychic, Normal, Poison, Bug, Steel, Ghost, Fighting, Electric, Dark, Dragon and Fairy.

However, it become complex when it comes to less straightforward types like Dragon, Ghost, Fairy, Poison or Dark-types. Thanks to Niantics chart, as well as several produced by the Pokemon community on sites like Bulbapedia, these type advantages and disadvantages can be easily referred back to.
Breaking down this chart, the X-axis represents defending from a given move, while the Y-axis represents attacking with a particular move type. Green circles indicate super-effective damage, red triangles indicate resistance to damage, and empty spaces indicate standard damage. Lastly, the black X in some places on the grid indicate immunity to damage from that particular move type.

How Does The Types Work In Pokmon
In the recent Pokémon installments we can find 18 Pokemon types. The latest one, Fairy, was introduced in Diamond & Pearl. Normal, Fire, Water, Grass, Electric, Ice, Fighting, Poison, Ground, Flying, Psychic, Bug, Rock, Ghost, Dragon, Dark, Steel and Fairy. Each Pokémon can have 1 or 2 types. They can have up to 4 moves, or attacks, that also have types. The type of moves is the one that interacts with the type of the defending Pokémon.
When fighting, players should use Pokémon moves that have an advantage over their opponents type so they cause more damage to the rival creatures. If done, they will inflict double damage . It is important to note that some Pokémon are double-type, so their resistances and weaknesses stack. For example, using a Grass-type move against a Groud-Rock type Pokémon will inflict a x4 modifier in the damage since it causes a x2 in each type.
There is another feature to take into consideration when ordering a Pokémon to attack. The STAB or Same Type Attack Bonus implies that when a Pokémon has the same type as the move it is using, it will have a 1,5 damage multiplier. For example, a Grass type Pokémon using a Grass-type move. This can be stacked with the previous mention advantages.
What Does Normal Mean Anyway
Pretty much every Pokémon type is straightforward and easy to understand, just from their name alone, however, Normal-Type kind of sticks out for just how plain it sounds. Every other type has these special attributes and powers like water, fire, or grass, and then theres normal which has none of that, which leads to the question of just what is normal in the context of the Pokémon world?
Since electric mice, sea serpents, and ghosts being caught in tiny metal balls by ten-year-olds is whats average here, itd be more accurate to call normal the neutral-type. In a way, its almost like the typing is even being insulted by the Pokémon world, by essentially being called the mediocre one.
