How Mega Evolutions Work

When you mega evolve a Pokémon, it becomes temporarily more powerful and gets a range of bonuses.

You can see which Pokémon can mega evolve by selecting them in your Pokémon storage.

If you see a Mega evolve button and Mega energy beside its candy indicator, you can mega evolve that Pokémon.

All Pokémon that can mega evolve are the final form of a Pokémon species. So while you can mega evolve Blastoise or Charizard, you cant do the same for Wartortle or Charmeleon.

For hardcore collectors, the main reason to get mega evolved Pokémon is that they appear permanently in your Mega Pokédex.

But, on the downside, your mega evolved Pokémon will only stay in its brawny new form for 8 hours. After that, it devolves into its original form.

To see how much time your mega evolution has left, look for the timer counting down on the right-hand side of the map screen.

Pokemon Go Mega Evolutions: Everything You Need To Know About Mega Raids And Mega Energy

Mega Evolutions are coming to Pokemon Go with the introduction of four new Mega Evolved Pokemon.

After gathering Pokemon-specific Mega Energy in Mega Raids, trainers can trigger a limited-time Mega Evolution to beef up the power of their Pokemon.

These Mega Evolved Pokemon can then be used to battle other raids, defeat gyms and Team Go Rocket, play with friends, and flex as your buddy. They cannot, however, be used to defend gyms, or in Go League battles.

What Is Mega Evolution In Pokemon Go

First seen in Pokemon X & Y, certain Pokemon have the power to Mega Evolve. This turns them into a more powerful version of themselves temporarily, via the use of stones.

In Pokemon Go, Mega Evolutions are the same at the base level you can temporarily evolve already-strong Pokemon to make them even more formidable in battle. Rather than utilise stones however, Mega Energy is the way forward here. You can then use the powerful Pokemon in battles, with the time remaining for the Mega form displayed on its page.

Only one Pokemon can be Mega Evolved at a time though, and you cannot Mega Evolve Clone or Shadow Pokemon. You can, however, Mega Evolve shiny Pokemon. Also, check out your Pokedex there’s a new Mega Pokedex to complete, though it won’t take long for dedicated players!

How To Get And Use Mega Energy

To mega evolve a Pokémon, you first need to collect mega energy.

Like candy, each Pokémon that can mega evolve has its own mega energy.

If you want a Mega Charizard, youll need to scrape together enough Charizard mega energy. But you cant use another Pokémons mega energy to get Mega Charizard.

To get mega energy, you can:

  • Battle mega evolved Pokémon in raids, where youll earn the mega energy of the Pokémon youre fighting. Youll get more mega energy the faster you complete the raid
  • Complete certain research tasks that reward you with mega energy for a particular Pokémon
  • You can also earn mega energy by walking with your buddy Pokémon. To get this bonus, you must have previously mega evolved a Pokémon in your buddys evolutionary line. So if Mega Blastoise is in your Mega Pokédex, and you make Squirtle your buddy, youll get mega energy when walking with your buddy

You need a lotof mega energy to get a mega Pokémon, and it will take a long time before you have enough.

To make things trickier, mega evolved Pokémon are not always available in raids which is a pain as battling them is the quickest way to get mega energy.

When a mega Pokémon disappears from raids, it may be a long time before it comes back.

So when a mega evolution is starring in raids, make sure to stock up on mega energy before it leaves.

You can only carry a maximum of 2,000 mega energy per Pokémon species. But as mega energy is hard to get, this is unlikely to ever be a problem.

How Do You Mega Evolve Pokemon In Go

As previously mentioned, Mega Evolution works a bit differently in Pokemon Go than in the mainline Pokemon games. Rather than a Mega Stone, you’ll need to gather a new resource called Mega Energy to Mega Evolve your Pokemon. You’ll receive Mega Energy by participating in Mega Raid Battles, which feature a Mega-Evolved Pokemon as the Raid boss. The faster your team is able to defeat the Mega Raid, the more Mega Energy you’ll receive as a reward.

Once you’ve amassed enough Mega Energy, you’ll be able to Mega Evolve the corresponding Pokemon. Unlike in the mainline games, Pokemon will remain Mega Evolved in Pokemon Go for a limited time, even outside of battle. As such, you’ll be able to see your Mega-Evolved Pokemon following you around on the map if you set it as a Buddy. You’ll also be able to take Snapshots with it and use it in battle against Team Go Rocket, other players, and Raid bosses.

After you Mega Evolve a Pokemon for the first time, its Mega Energy requirement will decrease, letting you Mega Evolve it again in the future much more quickly. It will also be logged in your Mega Pokedex, so you can easily keep track of which Pokemon you’ve Mega Evolved.

Every Pokmon That Can Mega Evolve

Pokémon Mega Evolution, added in Gen 6, gives Pokémon additional, powerful forms, but it can only be achieved in battle by a select group of species.

Every recent Pokémon generation has introduced a unique battle mechanic. Between Sword and Shield‘s Dynamax and Gigantamax forms, Sun and Moon‘s Z-Moves, and X and Y’s Mega Evolution, traditional Pokémon battles have become more exciting and engaging. While some variation of the former two mechanics can be used by all Pokémon, only certain species can Mega Evolve – and that list isn’t as long as some players might like.

Mega Evolution allows capable Pokémon to gain a new, temporary evolutionary form when holding the correct Mega Stone. Once per battle, a single capable Pokémon in the party can Mega Evolve for the duration. Mega Evolution lasts until the Pokémon is knocked unconscious or, unlike Gigantamaxing and Dynamaxing, the entire battle, if the Pokémon stays alive. Mega Evolution has appeared in X and Y, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, and Sun and Moon. It also appears in some spin-off games, but it’s usually just a bonus there that’s limited to a short list of species. In Pokémon GO, for example, there are only 10 Pokémon currently able to Mega Evolve.

Pokmon Master Evolutions: How To Evolve Pokmon

Pokémon Mastersis out for iOS and Android now, but one question players are having is if Pokémon can evolve in this new mobile game and if so, how?

Heres everything you need to know about evolving Pokémon in Pokémon Masters.

HOW TO EVOLVE POKEMON IN POKEMON MASTERS

Like in other Pokémon games, Pokémon in Pokémon Masters need to level up to evolve. Unlike those games, however, the level is the same for all Pokémon.

If a Pokémon needs to evolve to a first-stage, or Stage 1 Sync Pair as the game calls it, that Pokémon will need to be at level 30. If a Pokémon can evolve again, itll need to be at level 45 to evolve into its Stage 2 Sync Pair form.

Evolving your Pokémon increases their power and gives them other added benefits like getting a new powerful Sync Move if the Pokémon evolves twice.

Its not easy to evolve Pokémon in this game, though. Once you reach level 30 with a Pokémon, youll unlock a special side story. To play through the story, youll need a special item.

Trainers need evolution shards and evolution crystals to play through the story and complete the transformation. These items can only be found in the in-game shop by exchanging coins earned in battle.

Heres the exchange rate in the in-game shop at the start.
