Pokmon Go Burn Drive Genesect Raid Guide
Genesect was first introduced during the fifth generation games set in Unova, so its fitting that it makes its return during the Unova Collection Challenge week. While Genesect is a Bug/Steel type Pokemon, what makes it unique is that different drives can be attached to its cannon to fire different elemental attacks. The previous Genesect we saw in raids was a normal version that had charged attacks like Magnet Bomb and Hyper Beam, but this new one comes with what is known as the Burn Drive and in turn the Fire version of Techno Blast.

The event ‘has been designed to be playable without group gameplay.’
Earlier this month, we learned that a Special Research story event is coming soon to Pokemon Go, which will allow trainers to have their first encounter with the Mythical Pokemon Genesect.
The event will have two parts. The first is a free weekend event that all players will be able to access from March 20 to March 23, while the other part is a premium event thats locked behind a ticket that trainers will need to purchase within the game.
A single ticket costs $7.99, and it will give you access to a storyline of Special Research tasks called A Drive to Investigate. If you complete these tasks, youll receive a variety of rewards, including an encounter with Genesect. This story-driven portion of the event will run from March 20 at 8 a.m. to March 26 at 10 p.m. local time.
While we don’t know what the tasks will actually ask players to do, the Niantic Support Twitter account said the event “has been designed to be playable without group gameplay.”
Trainers, as we’re prioritizing updates to Pokémon GO features and experiences that can be enjoyed in individual settings, the Special Research story event “A Drive to Investigate” has been designed to be playable without group gameplay.
Even though this event wont start for a few more days, you can buy your ticket right now. Our guide will show you how.

How Do I Get Genesect In Pokemon Go
Genesect occasionally appears as a five-star raid boss during certain events. Different versions of Genesect have appeared over time, with different attack options.
Burn Drive Genesect appeared in January 2021 as part of the Unova Celebration event, with access to a fire-type version of Techno Blast. Genesect is returning in October 2021 with a Douse Drive equipped, offering a water-type Techno Blast attack. Its unclear when Shock Drive or Chill Drive versions of Genesect might arrive in Pokemon GO.
After defeating Genesect in a raid, players need to catch it using Premier Balls the way they do any other raid boss. Heres the trick to catching Pokemon GO raid bosses.
The Best Burn Drive Genesect Counters In January 2021
There are many raid bosses that have multiple types that you can use to counter it effetively, but Burn Drive Genesect follows the trend we saw last week with Ho-Oh but making it rather easy with only one type to focus on. That type is Fire, as Fire is effective against both Bug and Steel. On top of that, Burn Drive Genesects charged move will be the Fire version of Techno Blast, which will not be very effective against Fire type Pokemon. As a result, this makes lining up your team pretty easy, but the following are some of you best options. Also remember that Shadow variants of these will always deal more damage as well.
The counters here are pretty straightforward, as its literally Fire, Fire, and more Fire. If you are rushing into a raid and dont have time to coordinate, just pick your Fire type Pokemon that have Fire moves with the highest CP and you should be alright more than likely.

What Are The Best Counters
As a Bug and Steel type Pokémon, Genesect only has one weakness but it is a big one. Genesect takes quad damage from Fire type attacks. This is good news as there are a lot of really strong Fire types, as well as a few strong Pokémon with Fire type attacks who can fill in as well. Previously, Genesect only had Bug, Steel, and Normal type attacks, but this Genesect is holding a Burn Drive, meaning it will also have a Fire type attack. Fortunately, that poses no threat to the abundance of Fire type counters.
Everything We Know About Genesect
When it comes to Pokémon lore, Genesect has a lot in common with Mewtwo.
As it’s category as the ‘Paleozoic Pokémon’ suggests, Genesect was inspired by the giant insects of the Paleozoic era and, like in our world, these huge insects are now preserved in fossils.
It was one of these Genesect fossils that Team Plasma, the villainous team of the Unova region, brought back to life and then added a number of cybernetic enhancements to the revived Pokémon. This includes the cannon on Genesect’s back and the various drives, which allows Genesect to use moves from a variety of different Pokémon types.
These enhancements also explain Genesect’s status as a dual-type Pokémon; the bug typing comes from it being an ancient bug-type Pokémon, while the steel typing represents the experimentation it experienced.
Genesect was originally released into Pokémon Go as part of the paid in-game event, A Drive to Investigate, where players would receive the mythical Pokémon as part of the special Research Task questline.
Now, however, it will become part of the legendary Pokémon raid roster, making Genesect the second Mythical Pokémon, the first being Darkrai, to be made available via five-star raids.

Special Variant Of The Mythical Pokemon
The new year is only just beginning, but Niantic is not showing any signs of slowing down with a barrage of new content in Pokémon Go already. The Unova Collection Challenge is running this week for one thing, but alongside that is a new variant to a returning five star raid Pokémon with Genesect. This time around, Genesect comes with an exclusive style moveset that you can only get through the raids this week for now, so we have compiled a guide to help you with how to take it down and more.
Genesect Weaknesses And Counters
Much like Scizor, Genesect is a Bug/Steel Pokemon. This typing helps mitigate many of the weaknesses Bug and Steel types typically have, but it also makes the Mythical Pokemon extremely vulnerable to Fire types, so you’ll want to bring along plenty of those when challenging Genesect. Fire-type Legendaries like Reshiram, Entei, Ho-Oh, and Moltres will be especially effective if you have those, but other Fire Pokemon like Chandelure, Darmanitan, and Charizard will also be helpful.

How To Take On Genesect In Pokmon Go
Genesect, a Mythical Bug and Steel-type Pokémon, is coming to Pokémon Go soon. Although there are plans to support EX raids in April and participate in a special paid search event before that, Genesect may be delayed by due to COVID-19 issues, but you can still start preparing your team now. We have everything you need to know to face this legendary Pokémon!
Mythical Pokémon resurrected from a fossil, Genesect was introduced into the modern era by scientists working for the infamous Plasma team. These scientists were not satisfied with simply resuscitating a Pokémon that had disappeared 300 million years ago; they also added technological improvements to the Mythical Pokémon. These modifications include a barrel on its back which can contain different types of discs. These discs change the type of their signature move: Techno Blast; however, it looks like the different types of Genesects in Pokémon Go have access to different loaded moves. Fortunately, only one of these loaded movements really poses a threat to Genesect counters.
How To Beat Douse Drive Genesect In Pokemon Go
Every version of Genesect is countered by fire-type attacks, with the Pokemon taking 256% damage from every fire move it absorbs.
Douse Drive Genesect is actually the trickiest version of the Pokemon, as it will have access to a water-type attack while retaining the many resistances offered by a bug-steel typing. This makes it able to deal super-effective damage against almost all of the fire-type Pokemon in the game.
The ideal Pokemon to tackle Douse Drive Genesect are those who have access to fire-type moves but dont take increased damage from water-type attacks and isnt going to take increased damage from steel or bug-type moves. Probably the best option is the Community Day Electivire that has access to Flamethrower, but Togekiss is another strong option if it comes across a Genesect with a bug-type quick move. Mewtwo can also learn Flamethrower, but Genesect resists all of Mewtwos quick moves and could have a super-effective fast attack.
Ultimately, a group of players stacked up with fire-type Pokemon will be able to topple any Genesect they come across simply because the Pokemon is so weak to fire moves.

How Many Players Does It Take To Beat Genesect
Genesect wasn’t a particularly challenging Raid before Mega Evolution. Now, that there are three Fire type Mega Pokémon available, you should be able to easily take out Genesect with just a couple high level Trainers. If you don’t have the Mega Energy to spare, cannot coordinate with your fellow Trainers, or are a lower level, you might want to aim for four or more Trainers.
Weather Conditions that could impact this Raid include:
- Partially Cloudy Weather will boost Genesect’s Normal type moves
- Rainy Weather will boost its Bug type moves
- Snow will boost its Steel type moves
- Sunny/Clear weather will boost Genesect’s Fire type move, as well as your Fire type counters

Master League: 15 / 5
With a max CP of 3353 and somewhat poor bulk, Genesect would appreciate additional stats to compete with the top Pokemon in this league. Unfortunately its Bug and Steel coverage is almost useless in this league, where Dragons and Steel-types are ubiquitous. It gets some points for being able to beat Fairy-types, but it doesn’t get much better beyond that when it comes to the popular meta.;

Q Is Genesect A Fossil Pokemon
While Genesect is an ancient Pokemon, its current form is not natural and does not come from a fossil. Other fossil Pokemon are resurrected directly from fossils that happened to Genesect before it was altered by Team Plasma but cannot happen in-game which means it’s ancient, but not a fossil Pokemon.
