How Much Are Pokemon Shadowless Cards Worth

In depth of how to tell Shadowless Pokemon TCG cards from Unlimited cards

Are Shadowless Pokemon cards worth more? First, it is important to note that all first editions are more valuable than other shadowless cardboards. However, they are both more valuable than other runs.

To determine the Shadowless Pokemon cards value, check its type and rarity. Shadowless Pokemon cards worth a lot of money. Just like wine, their prices keep going up. In fact, by 2017, a complete set of the 1st edition fetched at least $100,000.

Tamamushi University Magikarp Trophy Promo

  • Release Date: 1998
  • Grading: PSA Gem Mint 10
  • Pokemon card value at auction: $66,100

In 1998, Shogakukans Magazines in Japan offered a contest for school students. Fans that took the various tests offered in the publication could send them back to the company to have them graded.

Those studious enough to pass with high scores were then invited to a special conference held in Osaka of that year. Once there, the children got to participate in a unique Pokemon card battle tournament. Winners of the rare contest ultimately received the Magikarp Trophy Pokemon card Promo.

Due to the insane obscurity of how the TCG item was given out, its easily one of the rarest Pokemon cards on our list. It was not very surprising then when the Trophy collectible went up for auction in February 2021 and sold for $66k at PWCC.

Find The Set Number Of The Pokemon Card

Look at the bottom right or bottom left corner of the card for a number, typically in the format ###/###.

In this case, the set number is RC21/RC25. Note that the set number does not normally contain letters, but it can sometimes. As long as theres a / symbol, or a number on its own, then thats the set symbol.

Pricing Or Selling Your Collection

  • 1Look up card prices using online card-selling websites. There are thousands of unique Pokémon trading cards, and prices change over time as people sell, buy, and speculate. Recently printed cards may drop in price once they are no longer legal in tournaments. Because of these factors, looking up a card actually for sale is more likely to give you an accurate number than a price guide, which may not be up to date.
  • Try a Pokémon card-selling site or eBay, or search online for + “selling”. Remember to include any special features, using the terms described in the identification section.
  • Most online listings show how much a company is selling cards for. Look for a “buylist” to see how much the company will pay to buy your cards. If selling to another player, the price you’ll get will typically fall between these two numbers.
  • 2Ask Pokémon players or collectors. It’s often difficult to find a price online, especially for extra-rare cards that do not trade hands often. Search for a Pokémon trading card game forum online, and post a picture or description of your card for advice. You could also look for a hobby or gaming store in your area.
  • Be wary of scams. Get a second opinion on your cards’ value before selling them to a stranger.
  • Secret Rare Pokemon Cards

    Identifying Valuable Pokmon Cards

  • 1Check card rarity. Each Pokémon card has a rarity that determines how likely you are to open it in a booster pack. While this isn’t the only thing that determines a card’s a value, it’s probably the biggest. Look in the bottom right corner of the card to find the rarity symbol, next to the card number:
  • A circle means the card is common, while a diamond marks uncommon cards. These are easy to find, and not usually worth much unless the card was printed in 1999 or 2000.
  • A star means the card is rare, while a star H or three stars are special, extra-rare cards.XResearch source These rarities have the highest potential to be valuable, so separate them from the rest of your collection.
  • Other symbols typically mean the card was sold as part of a special product, not a booster pack. Try looking up the card as a “Promo”, “Deck Kit”, or “Boxtopper” version to check the price. These can range in price from a few cents to over $100, depending on the product.
  • 2Investigate early cards closely. Cards printed soon after the game was released are especially valuable, and even commons and uncommons might be worth $5 each or more.XResearch source Any card that says “Wizards of the Coast” at the bottom of the card is from 1999 or early 2000, and is worth investigating closely. If one or both of the following features are present, and the card is a rare, it could potentially sell for $100 or more:

What If Im Looking To Buy Online And Cant Hold The Card In My Hand

As a rule of thumb, it is best practice to take a card out of a sleeve and examine it for yourself. As mentioned, a fake card will feel different to a genuine card. However, this isnt always an option, especially now during the pandemic and as Facebook groups have become a popular and convenient place to buy and sell.

There are a few tips in this case. First, ask for a photo of the card youre buying and examine it visually using all the aforementioned tips. Then, evaluate the credibility of the seller. If someone cant provide you with a unique photo of the card, thats a bad sign. Also look for previous reviews of the seller. For context, there arent any reported cases of mass Pokémon card fraud so you dont need to be overly anxious about buying a card. Just cover the basics and you will generally be fine.

Another great and reliable option if you buy online is to purchase the card from a registered business. Look up your closest card dealer and reviews of the store. A store will be more invested in customer satisfaction than a random person on the internet.

Pokemon Players Club Shiny Umbreon: $1900

If youve got a soft spot for the blue and black shiny version of the Dark-type Pokemon Umbreon, then be aware that youre not the only one. The Japanese version of the Shining Umbreon Pokemon card is pretty highly desired, with its unique coloring and gorgeous frame-piercing artwork making it fittingly beautiful as one of the first shiny Pokemon to appear on a card.

However, its price is so high because of much more than just its looks and popularity. The Shining Umbreon card only saw a very limited release through the Japanese Pokemon Players Club for hitting the maximum number of experience points through the club between 2005 and 2006, making it one of the rarest cards out there. For this reason, Troll and Toad has had it listed at just near and impressive $1900.

    Shadowless Pokemon Cards Pack

These issues also come in booster packs or booster boxes, and they also have a few distinctive features. When you take a look at the exterior of the box, observe the Charizard’s wings. If they are green, the box is shadowless. Blue wings indicate that the pack is shadowed. However, there are also other slight differences between the Venasaur and Blastoise, but the main one is in Charizard’s wings.

So there it is! Those are the things to look at to identify shadowless pokemon cards and how much they are worth. Identifying helps fans to tell which ones are real and which ones are fake. For all Pokemon enthusiasts, be careful not to sell your cards in a rush. You never know the one you have might be worth thousands!

A two-of-a-kind card that suddenly became one of the most valuable Pokémon cards of all time

Sold for $360,000 in January 2021

One of only two such Pokémon cards in existence making it extremely rare this Blastoise suddenly became one of the most valuable Pokémon cards of all time after it sold at auction in January 2021 for a whopping $360,000 .

The ultra-rare Pokémon card was created in 1998 as a presentation piece by Magic: The Gathering maker Wizards of the Coast to convince Nintendo of Japan executives to allow it to handle the TCGs English-language release. The game would eventually make its international debut one year later in 1999.

While two Blastoise Presentation cards were produced, this is the only one that has been seen publicly. Even more impressively, it has been graded at a NM/Mint+ 8.5 level by certification website CGC, meaning that the 20-plus-year-old card is in near-perfect condition. The location and state of the other Presentation card remains unknown meaning that this may well be the only such card of its type left.

Look For The Shadow On The Right Side Of The Image

This is the easiest way to tell if a cardboard is a limited edition. Look at the right side of the image, and if you see a shadow, then it is definitely shadowed. This is because this shadow runs from the right side of the cardboard, and it was added after the second printing.

Nevertheless, because the first version and the shadowless editions all feature a shadow, you will not be able to tell them apart using this technique. Instead, you will need to check the bottom right corner of the Pokémon box to find it. A dark circle with a “1” in the middle and the phrase “edition” all-around the top of the circle indicate that it is the first edition.

What Characteristics Should I Look Out For

1080P HD HOW TO TELL IF POKEMON CARDS ARE SHADOWLESS ...

If your card has passed all the tests so far, its time to take a closer look. An easy and dependable way to check if a Pokémon card is fake is to compare it to a real card. Look at the two cards and see if there are any easy-to-spot differences. Does the written text on each card match up word-for-word? For example, a fake might have slightly different description text or a different attack than the original or different punctuation.

Also compare the physical characteristics of the card with the original. Is the card in question the same size as the original? If its larger or smaller than a standard card from the set, its likely a fake.

    Image: Sarah Jarvis

Another important consideration is the cardstock. The hardest element of a counterfeit to recreate is the cardstock. Does the card bend in a similar way or does one feel flimsy and bend more easily? Hold the card in question up to a flashlight. Oftentimes, the light will pass through fakes more than a real card because the cardstock isnt as high quality.

Compare the two cards carefully. A common characteristic of a fake card is lower print quality which can lead to slightly blurry text. Compare the text of the card in question to another card. Does the text look a little blurry? A real card will have clean, crisp printing on the font. Fakes will have lower quality print, which is most visible when looking at the tiny text. Also compare the colours on the cards. Make sure that the color saturation is the same.
