Buddy Find Locations Explained
Ultra Buddies get a Find Locations bonus which is quite confusing to new players. Heres what that actually means :
Your buddy may draw your attention to a nearby PokéStop they find interesting. If you visit the PokéStop and spin its Photo Disk while there is an indicator above the PokéStop, you will earn bonus items and an Affection heart in the Bonus category.
Leveling Up Your Buddy
Your friendship with a Buddy Pokémon can level up four times, starting with Good Buddy and ending with Best Buddy. Each friendship level requires collecting a set amount of Affection Hearts, which are earned by interacting with your Buddy and playing the game with that Pokémon assigned as your Buddy.
There are four different Buddy Levels:
You can earn up to 10 Hearts a day to increase your friendship level. If your Buddys mood is Excited you can earn up to 20 Affection Hearts. You can reach the Best Buddy status in 30 days if you complete your daily tasks every day.
You can collect Affection Hearts by doing the following activities:
After acquiring the first set of 10 hearts, you can unlock the second set by reaching certain thresholds with each Activity category. These thresholds are still being researched, but it seems that theyre 200 snapshots, 20 new places to visit and a combination of other ones.
You can forcibly unlock additional 10 Hearts with use of Poffin without having completed any hearts .

How Do You Add Or Change Your Buddy Pokmon In Pokmon Go
If you’re brand new to Pokémon Go, here’s how to choose or change your Buddy Pokémon:
Choose a Buddy from your Pokémon list, if you’ve never chosen one before. Otherwise, tap on the Change button at the bottom right.
Tap the Exit button at the bottom middle .
Your chosen Pokémon is now your Buddy! Though it won’t walk next to you on the map sadness! it will have a tiny avatar to the right of your portrait, and you can tap on your Trainer screen at any time to see how far you’ve walked with your Buddy Pokémon, how many candies you’ve accumulated, and access your Buddy Pokémon’s screen to quickly evolve or power up.
Tap on Power Up or Evolve to use your accumulated candy.
Which Buddy Pokmon Should You Walk
It depends on what you need.
If you need candy, you should continue to walk with Pokémon that you need candy for. If youre low on Larvitar candy and youre trying to power up your Tyranitar, consider walking with it a bit.
Another option is to walk with Pokémon that you want the Best Buddy CP bonus on. Set a good attacker like Chandelure as your buddy and rake in both candy and a power boost once you hit the highest friendship level.
The last option is just to walk with whatever Pokémon you like. If you think Ferroseeds rolling animation is funny, use that. If you cant stand to be apart from your Shiny Bulbasaur, thats fine, too. Live your truth!

How To Make Your Buddy ‘excited’ With Or Without A Poffin In Pokmon Go
When in Adventure mode, performing activities with Buddies increases their mood. The highest level mood, ‘excited’ can also give you benefits for a limited time.
When your buddy is ‘excited’ – as indicated by a cheering icon surrounded by Hearts – then you’ll receive the following benefits:
- Candy distances will be halved
- Your daily Heart cap increases to 20
Getting a Pokémon excited, then, has its perks. To get it excited, there are two methods:
To make a Pokemon ‘excited’, you can either:
- Use Poffin – a shop-only item you can purchase from the shop for 100 Coins – which also fills all feeding heart meters for the day
- Perform enough actions to reach a certain threshold
Though the second one is ‘free’, it’s neither easy or particularly obvious from the outset. You must collect 32 ‘points’ from performing various activities, but you cannot do them at once – each individual activity has a 30 minute cooldown, with the exception of walking.
Here’s how many points you get from each activity :
Some clarifications on the above, thanks to TheTraveller on reddit – you can get multiple Battle points within a half hour if you Battle different ways and Souvenirs, Presents and visiting new Stops have no cooldown, just like walking.
It’s also important to note that, with the introduction of the Season of Celebrations on Tuesday, 1st December, the number of hearts you can earn daily from battling was increased to three.

Play together gives x2 for tapping your buddy in AR mode and pet them with your finger for a few seconds until you see them spin and jump with delight.

Were joking. With its mobile integration, its a good bet that Pokémon HOME will be the storage and trading app for all your Pokémon needs for the foreseeable future.

Niantic has made it pretty easy to earn hearts in its new Pokemon Go Buddy Adventure system.
Released last week as part of a new update, your Pokemon Go Buddy can now do a lot more, including following you around the map.
The new system is very much like the one found for Friends in Pokemon Go and it comes with its own set of rewards for those who play the game a lot.
The two main points of the Buddy System that Trainers will be keeping an eye on is accessing new levels to unlock perks and keeping their Buddys mood high.
And the best way to level up your Pokemon Go Buddy level is by earning hearts, which can be achieved by completing daily tasks with your Buddy.
And one of the easiest of them all to perform is also the easiest thing that can be done each day for all Trainers.
Play With Your Buddy As Often As You Can
Its important to interact with your Buddy every day, both to keep their mood up and to quickly climb the ranks to Best Buddy. Activities reset daily, meaning there should always be something new for you to tackle. Plus, you can change your Buddy 20 times a day, and each Buddy has their own unique list of activities. Becoming Best Buddies with your favorite Pokémon isnt easily achieved, but playing with them on a regular basis is a good place to start.

Play With Your Buddy 10 Times Fast With These Tips
Pokémon GO added buddy Pokémon a long time ago, but the feature has been evolving ever since. Not too long ago there was a very big update to the buddy system that added a lot of new features and streamlined how they function within the game. But many trainers never really dove into this feature beyond the basics. Some new Special Research and other tasks require you to do more with it though, so were revisiting the buddy feature for some new guides. Were starting with a quick guide on how to complete the play with your buddy 10 times task, so heres how to play with your buddy in Pokémon GO.
Can Pokemon Go Lose Best Buddy Status
You lose progress towards getting your buddy excited, but you dont lose progress on any stat that is displayed. The only annoying thing is that the km-meter for earning a 2km heart resets every time you switch buddies. Think you lose your best buddy cp boost though.

Which Pokmon Should Be My Buddy

Pokémon also receive a CP Boost when they become a Best Buddy. This means its important to turn your strongest Pokémon into your BFF, making them a true force to be reckoned with. If youre not looking to earn extra Candy, its highly recommended you Buddy up with your best Pokémon.
How To Play With Your Buddy
This is one of those things that seems very simple but once you try it out you run into odd roadblocks. In short, to play with your buddy all you need to do is tap the buddy window in the bottom right of the main screen. This will bring up the Buddy menu where you will see a big Play button at the top. Tap this to load into the AR buddy experience where you should see your buddy standing before you .
Once you see your buddy in front of you just start swiping the screen on them. If youre doing it right then youll see very small sparkles appear where you swipe and your buddy Pokémon will react in some way. You need to do this for a few seconds for it to count, so as long as you see the sparkles and your buddy reacting just keep swiping back and forth or around the screen. After a couple of seconds your buddy Pokémon will smile and bounce a little which marks a play.
For the Distracted by Something Shiny Special Research you need to do this 10 times. Theres no limit on how many times you can play with your buddy so you can get these done in just a couple of minutes if you need to, now that you know how to play with your buddy in Pokémon GO.

How Much Candy Do You Get For Walking A Buddy Pokmon
Buddy candy is based on distance. Some Pokémon require you to walk 1 KM, others 3 KM or 5 KM to earn a candy. The distances are roughly but not exactly related to the distance of the Pokémon Eggs they hatch from ;2 KM hatches tend to get a candy every 1 KM, 5 KM hatches every 3 KM, and 10 KM hatches every 10 KM, though there are some exceptions.
Here’s how walking a Buddy Pokémon compares to other methods for getting Candy in Pokémon Go:
- 1 Candy per Buddy distance walked.
- 1 Candy per Pokémon transferred to the Professor.
- 3 Candies per base-level Pokémon caught in the wild.
- 6 Candies per base-level Pokémon caught in the wild while using a Pinap Berry.
- 5 Candies per second-level Pokémon caught in the wild.
- 10 Candies per second-level Pokémon caught in the wild while using a Pinap Berry.
- 10 Candies per third-level Pokémon caught in the wild.
- 20 Candies per third-level Pokémon caught in the wild while using a Pinap Berry.
- 5 to 15 Candies per 2 KM Egg hatched.
- 10 to 21 Candies per 5 KM Egg hatched.
- 16 to 32 Candies per 10 KM Egg hatched.
Again, walking a Buddy Pokémon isn’t a fast way to get a lot of Candy but it’s a consistent way to get a steady stream of Candy.
What Does Buddy Adventure Allow You To Do In Pokmon Go
Once you reach Trainer level 2, Buddy Adventure introduces a series of new activities and benefits:
- You can play with and feed berries to your Buddy in AR mode
- Your Buddy will follow you on the map screen
- Increasing your Buddy level unlocks a range of perks, including additional aid during the catch phase, a CP boost, and finding items
- Up to three players can share the same AR space with their Pokémon to take a picture
As before, walking a set distance will earn you Candy, and this still works outside of the Buddy system – meaning you don’t have to have them on the map in ‘Adventure’ mode for this to work, in case you forget to fed them regularly.
You can also swap between multiple Buddies per day, allowing you to earn the above perks across multiple Pokémon.

How Do I Transfer Pokmon From Previous Generations To Pokmon Sword And Shield
This will involve the use of Pokémon Bank, the previous system used to store and trade Pokémon up until Gen 7. THIS FEATURE IS ONLY AVAILABLE WITH POKÉMON HOMES PREMIUM PLAN.
You can find out more information on the official Pokémon Bank website, but as a rule, once youve moved Pokémon from earlier Gens to Pokémon Bank, they cant be transferred back, so make sure youre happy losing them from your original games. The following infographic from the Pokémon Bank website shows which games permit deposits-only or deposits and withdrawals, but remember: TRANSFERS FROM POKÉMON BANK TO POKÉMON HOME ARE ONE-WAY ONLY:
The 3DS app has an annual fee of $4.99, but for the first month of Pokémon HOME, users can access Pokémon Bank free-of-charge, so theres no time like the present if youre eager to move all your Pokémon to the latest storage system.
Here are some details from the lovely Alex with regards to the convoluted process of transferring your legacy Pokémon up the daisy chain into Pokémon Bank and, from there, to Pokémon HOME. Over to Alex:
Additional Notes And Mechanics
- You can swap up to 20 Pokémon per day.
- You only need your buddy in the line up for the battle, and you dont even need to complete the battle to get the heart, you can just quit as soon as it starts.
- Souvenirs are cosmetic items only

Wait No Evolved Forms As Buddies Why Not
Because then you can’t use them in Gyms, which is a waste. The candy is the same regardless of whether you’re using a baby, base, or evolved form. So, by making a lower form your candy, you don’t take the higher form out of the game.
In other words, walk Lavitar to get candy to power up Tyranitar. Best of both worlds.
