Pokemon Fan Crafts Mewtwo Variants For All 18 Different Types

The 7 Different Types of Pokemon Players

Mewtwo has easily become one of the most recognizable Pokemon from the franchise over the past 25 years. The Psychic-type critter has been front and center in the minds of fans since the days of Pokemon Red and Blue, but it’s difficult to say if Mewtwo would have been as enduring if it had been based on one of the other Pokemon types. Earlier this month, artist Harry George on Instagram created different type variants for Squirtle, and now he has done the same for Mewtwo as well! It’s really interesting to see the 18 different ways that Mewtwo could be interpreted, and it’s clear that a lot of thought went into the process.

The Instagram post from George, featuring the different fan-created Mewtwo variants, can be found embedded below:

It’s clear that George worked hard to capture Mewtwo’s essence while also channeling details that bring to mind each specific Pokemon-type. None of the types are listed on the post, but a quick glance at each form should help most Pokemon fans decipher which one is intended to be which! There are a lot of little details that should help viewers tell the difference between which is Dragon-type and which is Flying, or which is meant to evoke Steel, and which one is Electric.

Are you a fan of these Mewtwo variants? Which of these fan designs is your personal favorite? Let us know in the comments or share your thoughts directly on Twitter at to talk all things gaming!

Quick Ball / Fast Ball

Alright, so the Quick Ball and Fast Ball come in as a tie, but they are two separate balls. They come in together on this list because they’re generally used at the same time, the start of the encounter, albeit for different reasons. The Quick Ball is way more likely to succeed if it is thrown at the very beginning of an encounter, as it has a much higher catch rate at that point.

As for the Fast Ball, it’s best used at the start of an encounter anyway, since it’s for Pokémon that are likely to flee or run away quickly, such as the teleporting Abra or the quick-fleeing legendary beasts from Johto. They’re always good to have on hand as a “just in case.”

Florges Should Be A Grass Type Considering Its Connection With Gardens & How It Follows The Plant

Although Florges’s fairy typing allows it to triumph over many dragon Pokémon for type resistances and weakness exploit purposes, its design feels more akin to other plant-based grass-type Pokémon. Since those Pokémon are elegantly depicted plants with no fairy typing, it would make sense for Florges to follow the same path.

It’s a Pokémon that can learn many grass-type attacks and loves to spend its time around gardens. Not only that but the Florges species also loves generating energy from wandering insects. Even if fans argue it’s Shiny Stone gives it a reason to be a fairy type, many will find it odd that it’s not a grass type.

What Is The Best Pokemon Typing

The best typing in Pokemon is likely dark-ghost dual types, with Sableye and Spiritomb falling into this category. The typing has just one weakness in fairy, and is immune to fighting, normal, and psychic attacks. Offsetting that very advantageous typing is the fact that Sableye has very low stats and Spiritomb has a limited arsenal of attacks.

What Is The Strongest Pokemon

Types

Arceus, Eternatus, Zacian, Zamazenta, Mega Mewtwo X and Y, and Kyurem all rank among the strongest Pokemon in the series thus far, but for different reasons.

From a lore and story perspective, Arceus is akin to a god-like character in Pokemon. Though its not portrayed this way across the Pokemon franchise consistently, there are allusions to Arceus having created the entire universe of Pokemon and having formed the Sinnoh region specifically. Despite the lofty expectations that might set for its in-game strength, Arceus lacks the firepower of special legendary Pokemon like Lugia, Palkia, and Solgaleo.

Throughout every iteration of the Pokemon video game series, the strongest creature encountered thus far is Eternamax Eternatus. This version of Eternatus has the strongest HP, defense, and special defense stats in the series with very high attack and speed stats to go along with them. Unfortunately, this version of Eternatus is exclusively shown as a boss in Pokemon Sword and Shield, with its normal version being among the strongest, but just a bit shy of that mark.

How This Affects Pokmon With Multiple Types

As I mentioned before, some Pokémon will have multiples types, and this table gets even more tricky to understand once you start looking at how interactions like that work. The good news is there’s a pretty simple way to break it down.

All modifiers for damage by a particular attack are calculated together when it comes to dealing with Pokémon that have multiple types.

For example, if you use a Flying attack against a Pokémon with both Bug and Grass types, it would do four times as much damage, since Flying attacks usually do double damage to each type.

Following in the pattern, if you were to use a Ground attack against a Pokémon with both Bug and Grass types, it would do 1/4 of the damage, since ground attack normally would do 1/2 damage to each type.

Lurantis’s Resemblance To Praying Mantis Creatures Will Have Many Questioning Why It’s Not A Bug Type

Despite resembling a praying mantis in design and having a name that’s an homage to the creatures of that variety, Lurantis isn’t a bug-type Pokémon. It’s a Pokémon that uses its flower aesthetics to lure wandering victims in and one that loves to attack its victims with its sharp scythes.

Despite being a plant that follows in the type vein-like Roserade and others, Lurantis possesses bug-like eyes, praying mantis scythes, and carnivores traits that will make players think it’s a bug despite it being a grass type. It’d be best to make Lurantis a bug type because it wouldn’t have advantages over many grass Pokémon, but it would help ease fans knowing that a bug-looking Pokémon fits its typing.

The Fighting Typing Will Allow Ambipom To Defend Itself Against Other Monkey Pokmon Like Passimian

Despite being one of the strongest monkey Pokémon in the franchise, Ambipom’s normal-typing doesn’t benefit it much outside of helping it be a decent counter toward ghost-type Pokémon attacks. Considering the Pokémon lore emphasizes Ambipom’s strength and fighting style, it feels farfetched for Ambipom not to be a fighting type Pokémon instead.

Ambipom is a Pokémon that loves using its tails to dish out damage, akin to how Hitmonlee loves using his feet to lay a beat down on an enemy instead of its hands. Considering the Ambipom species grudge against the Passimian species, it would benefit the creature to have the Pokémon type that”ll help it defend itself against its rival.

Pokmon Transformations And Forms

No additional Mega Evolved Pokémon

Mega Evolution is a mechanic introduced in Pokémon X and Y, which further increases the abilities of specific Pokémon. If the player character possesses an item called the Key Stone and a Pokémon is holding a Mega Stone that corresponds to its species , that Pokémon will be able to Mega Evolve during battle. The player cannot perform more than one Mega Evolution per battle. Unlike normal evolution, this transformation is temporary and the Pokémon will revert to its normal form after the battle. Mega Evolved Pokémon have higher stats than their normal forms and may also have a different type or Ability. Unfortunately, while this does not affect gameplay, many Pokédex entries for Mega Evolved Pokémon state that the process or form the Pokémon use is painful to said Pokémon. There are 46 species of Pokémon capable of Mega Evolution, two of which have two different Mega forms.Mewtwo was the first known example of a Pokémon capable of Mega Evolution, with Mega Mewtwo Y appearing in a special episode of the television series and the film Pokémon the Movie: Genesect and the Legend Awakened. Two Pokémon, Charizard and Mewtwo, have multiple Mega Evolved forms and the one they can Mega Evolve into is dependent on which Mega Stone they hold.

Can Pokemon Have Three Types

No, Pokemon can only have one or two types. Pokemon can change types as they evolve or change forms, but each iteration of a Pokemon has a maximum of two types at any given moment.

For example, Pupitar is a rock-ground dual-type Pokemon but evolves into Tyranitar, which is rock-dark. The ground typing is dropped entirely on Tyranitar. Similarly, Gyarados is water-flying type but Gyarados can mega evolve into Mega Gyarados. Mega Gyarados type then changes to water-dark, but it remains a dual-type Pokemon by dropping its flying affinity entirely. It does not become a water-flying-dark Pokemon.

Pokmon With Multiple Forms

Main article: Mega Evolution

In Pokémon X and Y, Mega Evolution for some Pokémon was introduced. In general, these Pokémon are able to Mega Evolve in battle if the trainer owns a Key Stone and the Pokémon is holding the Mega Stone specific to their species. Mega Evolutions can have different appearances, types, stats, and abilities from the base form. In Galar, they were removed.

Flabb Floette And Florges

Flabébé, Floette, and Florges can hold five different-colored flowers: red, yellow, orange, blue, and white. The flower color is maintained through evolution and cannot be changed.

In Generation VII, all forms of the Flabébé evolutionary line can have their Hidden Ability, though the Blue Flower forms cannot be caught with it and must be transferred from a prior game.

List Of Pokemon Go Multipliers

Gen I Pokemon starters if they were different types : pokemon

The multipliers for Pokemon Go are as follows:

  • Super effective against two types: 2.56x
  • Super effective attacks: 1.6x
  • Not very effective attacks: 0.625x
  • Not very effective against two types: 0.391x

Heres a visualization chart of the type matchup for all of these:

Another difference between Pokemon Go and other games is multiple typings affect damage even further. If a species is weak to two of an opponents types then the multiplier effect would be halved again, as seen by the 0.391 multipliers.

The same applies to a Pokemon being effective against both species types. An example of this is an electric-type versus Gyarados as it is dual water and flying-type two types which are weak against electric.

Taking the time to learn which Pokemon are strong and weak against other types can often give you the edge needed to swing even the toughest fights in your favor. On top of this, familiarizing yourself with Pokemon Gos types will help you in Raid Battles, while also speeding up the process of acquiring those all-important PokeCoins.
