All Pokmon Type Matchups
Almost 900 unique Pokémon have been introduced since the franchise first captured the hearts and minds of Trainers around the world. Whether its your favorite Pokémon or an obscure creature found on an unexpected Route, their types are an integral part of themand knowing their pros and cons is an important tool to dictate how much success you have in battle.
These species can be broken down into 18 different types, with one or two assigned to each Pokémon species. With how many combinations and interactions are possible, it can be a daunting task to memorize each types strengths, weaknesses, and resistances to ensure that you are making the right Pokémon selection in battle.
While type matchups differ slightly between different generations in the Pokémon series of games, the following information is accurate for after the sixth genafter Pokémon X and Y, plus Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. Also, Pokémon Go does not include the feature of immunities.
Here are all the Pokémon type matchups to help you clear your next battle objective.

Pokemon Go Type Chart: Strength Weakness And Effectiveness For All Types
Pokemon Types are the core of battles in Pokemon Go just as in the rest of the series – and to succeed, you’ll need to understand Pokemon type strengths, weaknesses and effectiveness.
As hardcore Pokemon fans will already know quite well, each Pokemon has one or two types, and types determine much about how that Pokemon battles. For the Pokemon Trainer, type is important because certain types are strong against others, meaning you can deal or take additional damage, or on the other hand lessen the amount of damage received.
There’s 18 different types, and each type is either strong, weak or neutral versus other types. At the most basic level with the starter Pokemon this breaks down to Rock, Paper, Scissors – Charmander beats Bulbasaur who beats Squirtle which comes full circle by beating Fire.
That all makes sense and is nice and easy – though things get more complicated when you start introducing more obtuse Pokemon Types types like Fairy or Dragon, or when you consider Pokemon with multiple types. Then you have to consider that moves have types – so a fire-type Pokemon like Charizard can easily come stacked with Dragon and Flying-type moves, meaning its damage output on the type chart is attached to those types rather than its raw type.
Is Flying Super Effective Against Ground
Ground is the only type super effective against Electric, and is super effective against five types in total, tying with Fighting for the most super effective matchups. Because Ground is so useful offensively and resisted by so few types, Ground often provides good coverage when combined with another type of attack.

Every Pokmon Has A Type
Every Pokémon in Pokémon Sword and Shield has at least one of the 18 types in the game. Some Pokémon, like the Hootoot, even have two types. The entire list of types found in the game are as follows:
You can see what type a particular Pokémon is by looking in your Pokédex or your menu once you encountered the Pokémon in the game.
Even more importantly, every move in the game also has a type, so although you may have a Grass Pokémon like Grookey , you’ll notice that the moves it knows vary by type.
Certain attack types do more damage to certain types of Pokémon, while certain others will do less. There are even some attack types that won’t affect certain Pokémon types at all.
Every Type’s Strengths And Weaknesses
The more you can remember from the table below, the better, as it will help you know which Pokémon and which moves to use against your opponents. Here’s a quick guide on how to read this table:
- Type: The type of Pokémon/move
- Super Effective: The types of Pokémon the attack type will do double damage against
- Not Very Effective: The types of Pokémon the attack type will do half damage against
- Weak: The types of attacks that will do double damage to a Pokémon of this type
- Immune: Types that this Pokémon type is immune to meaning they take no damage.
Using the information above and the table,e below, you can deduce everything you need to know about how each type interacts with each other. Here’s an example of how this breaks down:
- Bug attacks are super effective against Grass and Psychic-type Pokémon and will deal double damage.
- Bug attacks will do half damage to Fighting, Flying, Poison, Ghost, Steel, Fire, Dark-type Pokémon.
- Bug Pokémon are weak to Flying, Rock, Fire, and thus will take double damage from these types of attacks.
- Bug Pokémon are not immune to any damage.

Easy Ways To Remember Pokmon Weaknesses In X And Y
Pokémon may seem like a simple game to outsiders, but fans know how complex it can really get. With the release of Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, there are now a total of 718 pocket monsters to choose from. Each one can learn dozens of different attacks, and their strengths and weaknesses can vary greatly.
The relationships between different Pokémon types whats weak to what, in other words is one of the most important elements of the Pokémon battle. Yet with 18 types , it can also be one of the most difficult aspects to master.
The thought of memorising the many ways different types of Pokémon react to various attacks is daunting. Many pocket monsters have two types simultaneously, which can make it even more difficult to remember what attacks will be effective against them. And the new Pokémon games introduced confusing inverse battles, a new type of battle in which all type relationships are reversed.
It can make you crazy trying to remember them all. There are countless charts online , but there are other ways of mastering Pokémon types. Since I started playing Pokémon Red as a kid Ive been using a subconscious mnemonic technique to keep track of the rock-paper-scissors-bug-dark-dragon-etc. game of Pokémon battling.
Ice vs. dragonDragons are like dinosaurs. Dinosaurs cant survive an ice age. Easy.
Electric and ice vs. flyingPicture a bird in a hailstorm or a lightning storm. Its pretty self-explanatory.
Ghost Type Pokemon Strength And Weakness Chart
Ghost Type Pokemon
It is known that the Phantom type has small Pokémon, many of which have low HP and move. In battles, the Phantom type is useful because it is the only type that has two immunities: Normal and Combat, which are common types of movement.
Starting from the VI generation, the types of ghosts are also immune to the movements and abilities that prevent escape from flight, such as blocking signs and ghost signs.
Pokémon of this type are generally related to fear, darkness and life after death. They usually live in abandoned houses, cemeteries, funerals and dark and uninhabited places, such as caves. Also, phantom-type Pokémon tend to be extremely bad and make jokes about humans just to see their faces and their reactions.
Interestingly, the more a human being is afraid, the more Pokémon Pokémon will have the power to tease. In the worst case scenario, some phantom-type Pokémon can behave relatively deadly, such as attaching Jellicent to ships and their crews or the evolving family of Litwick, draining the vital energy of lost people.
Some of Ghost’s famous Pokémon coaches include Agatha, third member of Kanto Elite Four; Morty, the fourth animator of Johto; Phoebe, second member of the Hoenn Elite Four; Fantina, fifth gym manager in the Sinnoh region; Shauntal, a member of Unova Elite Four; and Acerola, a test captain from Ulaula Island, Alola, as well as her third Elite Four member.

Theyre Really Weak To Fighting
For the most part, Normal-Type Pokémon are without a type weakness, taking neutral damage to almost all other types. However, Normal-Type has one big type disadvantage against Fighting-Types. Fighting-Types are one of the two Pokémon types that actually have the most amount of advantages, and it seems that Normal-Types fall into that category.
To make matters worse for Normal-Type, Fighting-Type Pokémon are usually known for having high stats when it comes to offense, meaning that without specific special abilities or moves like Protect, one super-effective hit could lead to an instant KO. The chances of a Normal-Type beating a Fighting-Type are slim, to say the least.

Pokmon Go Type Chart Explained
Since the very beginning the Pokémon series has depended on a delicate Rock-Paper-Scissors-style balance to its Pokémon battles. Type effectiveness is a key part of building an effective team in Pokémon GO or Pokémon Sword and Shield or any of the other games. Once you know the basic strengths and weaknesses of the different types, you’ll easily triumph against any Pokémon type you come across in battle.
Every Pokémon belongs to at least one Type and will be strong or weak against other types. Some are pretty obvious – it’s no surprise that Water-type Pokémon will be strong against Fire types, but new players coming to Pokémon Sword and Shield and the Galar Pokédex may have trouble committing the strengths and weaknesses of the 18 main types to memory. Therefore, we’ve produced the following Pokémon type chart to help you quickly suss out what’s what when it comes to Pokémon battles.
In this guide, well help you understand how Pokémon types relate to each other, how the mobile game calculates attack strength and key ways in which this differs from the console game series.
If you’re eager for a full list of the 400 Pokémon available in the Galar Pokédex, check out our snazzy Galar Pokédex database tool. Pokmon Go Types Strengths And Weakness
Pokémon also has its own set of weaknesses and strengths. For example, bug-type Pokémon are weak against fire-, flying-, and rock-type moves. Bug-type moves are strong against dark-, grass-, and psychic-type moves. Fire-, flying-, and rock-type moves will do double damage against a bug-type, like Caterpie.
Some Pokémon have two types, which means they can have a doubled weakness or have their strength and weaknesses cancel out to just take normal damage. Rayquaza, a dragon- and flying-type, takes four times the damage from ice-type moves. On the flip side, Shuckle, a rock- and bug-type, takes normal damage from fire-type moves, since rock-type is strong against fire-type.
Strengths and weaknesses also arent necessarily just opposites of each other. Though fire-type move deal less damage to water-type Pokémon and water-type moves do doubled damage against fire-type Pokémon, this isnt the case with every type. For example, fighting-type moves are strong against normal-types, but normal-types just do regular damage against fighting-types, rather than do reduced damage.
Knowing what Pokémons strengths and weaknesses are is an important aspect of raiding and battling. To do the most damage you can, you should make sure that your Pokémons moves are strong against what its battling.
Memorizing all of that can get confusing, so heres a chart to help you out.

Lucario and Zoroark are mistaken as pseudoLegendaries because of the way in which they are to be obtained. Lucario can only be obtained in Diamond and Pearl on Iron Island when Riley gives the player a Riolu Egg. Zoroark is, as of yet, the only non-Mythical Pokémon that can only be caught via an event.
Pokemon Go: Every Types Weakness
Pokemon GO shares the rock-paper-scissors nature of the mainline series when it comes to combat, but it can be tricky to remember all of the elemental type advantages with so many types in play at once.
Niantic has fortunately provided a helpful article on its official Pokemon GO site to remind its players what weaknesses and resistances are out there. Since the games inclusion of Fairy-type Pokemon and moves, Pokemon GO is now up-to-date with its type effectiveness alongside the current titles in the franchise such as Pokemon Sword & Shield.
Super-effective damage is vital to trainers combat capabilities, as taking advantage of type weaknesses is a core concept in Pokemon GO.

Dont Bother: The Most Notable Normal
Prior to the launch of Pokémon Sword and Shield, Wooloo was one of the most hype-tastic Pokémon around. It still is , but if we can be brutally real for a moment, it isnt actually any good, is it?
As with a lot of its Normal-type brethren, Wooloo and Dubwool proved to be early game Pokémon that the player drops in favor of something better. This has been the case since the days of Pidgey and Rattata, and its probably always going to be.

A Good Handful Of Them Ended Up Being Better Off As Fairy
The sixth generation of Pokémon was the first to introduceFairy-Type to mix things up and balance out some type matchups too. Twenty-two Pokémon ended up adding or completely changing their typing to fairy, twelve of which used to be Normal-Type.
With this new typing, the Normal-Types that became Fairy-Types got access to even more moves and a huge advantage against Dark-Types, Dragon-Types, and their old Fighting-Type foes. Granted, this also added a few weaknesses, but simply put, these Pokémon ended up being better off with their new typing compared to the old one.
Psychic Pokemon Strength And Weakness
Psychic Pokemon are all about the power of the mind or something like that. The word psychic is defined as a person that has an enhanced mind being able to use telepathy and telekinetic abilities.
