Look, Normal-types are not as bad as people make them out to be. Sure, youll rarely find yourself using Normal-type attacks in Pokemon GO, but that doesnt mean theyre totally useless. Never realized just how many poison types were in the original Kanto region

It was a really common secondary type, which inflated the numbers. Grass/poison, bug/poison, water/poison etc. Plus Nidoran, which happens to be poison, had a male and female version.

Apparently Kanto is the Australia of the Pokemon world.

There’s lots of weird reasons this is true*:

The other really strange and incredibly common-for-no-reason combination was the Normal/Flying type. There were nine of these dual types, which is more than the number of Ghost, Dragon, Ice, and Fighting types. Why weren’t they pure Flying types instead? At least Water types being common actually makes sense .

Pokemon Go: Best Psychic

Ah, Psychic what a fun type to look at in Pokemon GO. It once ruled the meta in Gen I before they nerfed it with the addition of the Dark-type in the Johto games, and while not as egregious, it still dominates in GO, too. This is thanks to two of the best Pokemon in the entire game, Mewtwo and Metagross, finding their homes in the Psychic-typing. Mewtwo, in particular, is comically good, as well see here.

The top two Psychic attackers are Shadow Mewtwo and regular Mewtwo. Theyll be displaced one day, though, by Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y. Well, at least its easy to remember. Looking for something other than these four, even if it has low DPS but still-ridiculous TDO? Consider Armored Mewtwo!

Should you have trouble finding a Mewtwo or a Shadow Mewtwo, you arent out options, though, as Metagross is one of the other best Pokemon in the game, and its a Psychic-type as well. Regular Metagross has been pushed down the list a bit by Shadow Pokemon, but it also received a Shadow form, making it one of the highest-reaching attackers in the entire game. With a DPS of 20.02 and TDO of just below a thousand, Shadow Metagross isnt going to be stopped by much. The only issue with Psychic-attacker Metagross is that it has better use elsewhere. With a Steel-type moveset, Shadow Metagross launches itself even further up the charts, so its better to opt for that and leave the Psychic-type attacks to Mewtwo and the rest of the gang.

Make The Most Of Premier Balls And Berries

After a Zacian raid, you’ll have a limited number of PremierBalls you can use to catch Zacian, so make each one count. You can earn extraPremier Balls for battling with friends and defeating Zacian more quickly.

In an encounter with Zacian, your chance of catching it isgreatest when the target ring is small enough for you score Excellent Throws. Throwing Curveballs can improve yourchances even more. But work within your abilitiesif you don’t think you canreliably make Excellent Curveball Throws, aim for Nice Throws or Great Throwsrather than risk missing the target ring completely.

Zacian isn’t going to make it easy on youby sitting still while you’re trying to catch it. Don’t waste your PremierBalls by throwing while it’s moving around. Watch Zacian to get afeel for its cycle of movement and the pauses in between the cycles. During oneof these pauses, wait for the target ring to reappear, and then throw as itstarts to grow smaller to increase your odds of making a Great Throw or anExcellent Throw.

Berries can help you catch Zacian. A RazzBerry will make Zacian easter to catch, and a Golden Razz Berry will make itmuch easier to catch. If you find yourself failing to land any throws, a NanabBerry will calm Zacian, making its movements less erratic and allowing you tomake precise throws more easily. If you need extra Zacian Candy, using a SilverPinap Berry will make Zacian easier to catch and grant you extra Candy when youcatch it.

Pokemon Go: The Best Bug

Overall, Bug isnt the best type. Sure, it has its uses, especially in terms of taking down Psychic- and Dark-types from time to time, but both of those types have other weaknesses that are home to Pokemon that are much stronger. With that said, Bug-types can find some niche use here and there.

Mega Beedrill is far and away the best Bug-type, without question. However, even with its best Bug-type moveset of Bug Bite and X-Scissor, its DPS still falls behind. With a monster max Attack stat of 303, though, its worth paying attention to, especially with its low evolution cost from Weedle and Kakuna.

For the rest of the ranking, youre looking at the same familiar faces that dominate the Bug-type in the main series. No surprises here, to be sure. Pinsir and Scizor both do very well, whether in their boosted Shadow forms or just the vanilla forms. When their Mega Evolutions are released, theyll be pretty great, though they may not take down Mega Beedrill.

Genesect has a fun gimmick with its different Drives, but sadly none of them add much value. Its best as a Bug- or Steel-type, with the moves to match. The different Techno Blast types can have their use in the PvP meta, but they arent that great in PvE. As far as Bug-types go, if youre looking for something that isnt Shadow or Mega Evolved, Genesect is the best.

Much as with Fire Pokemon, the need to actually go somwehere icy to catch Ice-type Pokemon has thankfully been left out of Pokemon Go. Instead youll find ice-types in grassy areas occasionally and near bodies of water more often than that. Youll of course also find them anywhere theres actual snow and ice if you happen to live close to anywhere that fits the bill.

Theres 5 ice-type Pokemon in the original 151 that are in Pokemon Go: Jynx, Dewgong, Cloyster, Lapras and Articuno. Legendary Articuno is unlikely to be found out in the wild.

5 ice-type Pokemon were added in the Pokemon Go Gen 2 update. That includes: Sneasel, Swinub, Piloswine, Delibird, Smoochum.

Surprisingly, weve actually been fairly consistent when it comes to locating the first form of this Pokemon, Dratini. It turns out that this Dragon type likes to hang out in parks or other local landmarks. Another way to obtain Dratini is actually by hatching a 10km egg, and this may be your best chance. Given that you can obtain these eggs at PokeStops, consider hanging out in an area where you can easily hit multiple ones. This will not only up your chances at obtaining a 10km egg, but possibly lure in a Dratini, as well.

Other locations to possibly catch Dragon types are in major cities with a high concentration of PokeStops. In areas such as New York Citys Times Square, there is a large use of Lure Modules, which cause Pokemon to flock to that area. This will not only increase your chances at running into one of these three rare Pokemon, but possibly pick up some other elusive pocket monsters, as well!

The number of new creatures added in each changes with each new set, but its not unusual for a generation to add anywhere between 70 to 150 of the cuties. And with eight generations, the total number of Pokémon is now pretty high.
