Pokmon Go: Sword & Shield Legendaries Arrive In New Event
Pokémon GO developer Niantic has announced that Zacian and Zamazenta along with other Sword & Shield Pokémon will be debuting in the game.
The latest Pokémon GO in-game event is finally debuting the games first Legendaries from Pokémon Sword & Shield. Developer Niantic has been regularly adding Pokémon from the Galar region since June of last year. Most recently, the studio debuted Galarian Slowpoke, Galarian Slowbro, and Mega Slowbro during the games A Very Slow Discovery event that also showcased other lazy or slow-moving Pokémon such as the aforementioned Galarian Pokémons Kanto counterparts, Snorlax, Psyduck, Shelder, and more.
Last week, Niantic announced all of the events that will be hosted in Pokémon GO throughout the month of August and one of the most interesting events is the three-part Ultra Unlock event, the first part of which is set to finish in just a few days and will be followed by part two from August 6 to 20, 2021. Part 1 of the Ultra Unlock event was themed around time and saw the return of Dialga, one of three Legendary Pokémon that also represent the members of the creation trio of the Sinnoh region. Expectedly, Ultra Unlock Part 2 will be space-themed and will feature the return of Palkia.

Since the game went online over a year ago, players of Niantics massively popular AR monster-catcher have wondered where all the legendary creatures are hiding in Pokémon Go. The original Game Boy title had massively powerful, interesting, and unique legendary;Pokémon way back in the 90s, but the smartphone game launched without access to Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, and Mewtwo, despite a heavy feature in the original trailer.
Now, at least some of these critters are catchable in the game: the first two legendary Pokémon to appear are the flying-ice type bird Articuno and the flying-psychic type Lugia, with more monsters slated to hit the game later on. But be warned: catching them isnt going to be a walk in the park. Unless you catch them by walking to the park. Like I did.
How Do I Get Premier Balls
Premier balls are exclusive to raids, and are the sole type of Poké ball that you can use to try and capture the raid boss if you successfully defeat it. You cant collect premier balls using the ordinary means, and will instead earn a set number depending on the following factors:
- Defeat the boss: five premier balls
- Damage: up to;four premier balls
- Gym:;up to two if you control gym
- Team contribution:;you gain extra premier balls depending on the damage your team, as a whole, inflicts
- Friends:;Raid with a friend to receive up to four extra premier balls
So, as you can see, its possible to earn a fair number of extra balls by paying attention to the above.

Pokemon Go has a plethora of legendary Pokemon available, from the original three legendary birds to the Gen 5 legendaries. What Are The Odds Of A Shiny Legendary Pokemon Encounter
The odds of encountering a shiny legendary Pokemon would vary in different cases. For instance, if you have encountered a Kyogre, there is a 1 in 32 chance that it would be shiny. If we talk about Groudon, then it is estimated that 1 in every 20 Groudon would be shiny. Besides that, the overall chances of encountering a shiny legendary Pokemon are just 1 in 450, making them extremely rare.
Can Legendary Pokemon Be Found Outside Of Tier 5 Raids
Normally, trainers cannot find legendary Pokemon by searching the wild. They can only be battled and caught through Tier 5 raids.
There has been, however, one exception.
Early in 2020, the lake spirits from Generation IV were released into the wild. The lake spirits are Azelf, Uxie and Mespirit, a trio of Psychic-type Pokemon found at the three lakes in the Sinnoh region .
While these legendary Pokemon were released to the wild, they still arent easy to find. They are considered to be extremely rare encounters.
On top of that, they were all region locked. Only Azelf can be found in the Americas; Uxie is located in Eastern Asia, and Mespirit was released in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
Outside of the lake spirits, all other legendary Pokemon can only be caught through Tier 5 raids. This likely takes inspiration from the main series games, where legendary Pokemon couldnt be caught in the wild either.
All legendary Pokemon in the games fall under two categories: static or roaming. Static encounters have one specified area where the trainer can attempt to battle and catch the legendary Pokemon there.
Roaming legendaries are, instead, found at different points on the map. Trainers have to search the wild in the hopes of finding these Pokemon. There are ways, though, to help narrow down which wild areas these roaming legendaries will be in.

Catching Legendary Birds In The Wild
While your first and perhaps only encounter with each of the four legendary Pokémon has to happen in their set locations, it is possible to see the legendary birds in the wild and score two or more of the same legendary bird. This possibility is something you would never see in Pokémon Yellow.
In a recent Twitter post, Kokatu UK news editor Laura Kate Dale aptly expresses what a feat it is to actually witness a legendary bird in the wilderness.
Here is my proof, 100 hours in a wild Zapdos. I already caught that one you know where to find. I guess that means more than one Zapdos in the world?

For a chance to see one of the legendary birds in the wild, you need to be riding on a flying Pokémon like Charizard. You also have to have a high catch chain going, so you must catch a lot of Pokémon in a row. A lure, which attracts rare Pokémon, must be active. No matter how many requirements you meet, you still might not ever see a legendary bird in the wild. They have certainly eluded us during the duration of our Lets Go gameplay, but dont let that deter your perseverance.

How To Catch Legendary Pokemon In Pokemon Go
Legendary Pokemon are the hardest Pokemon to catch in Pokemon Go. With a base catch rate of only 2 to 3% and a limited stash of Premier Balls, trying to catch one of these Pokemon can be a frustrating experience.

Special Research Legendary Pokemon: Mew Celebi Jirachi And Meltan
Mew was the first legendary Pokemon available via special research, in a quest line called “A Mythical Discovery”. This is the only way to obtain Mew, and you can read more on that with our how to catch Mew and Mewtwo in Pokemon Go guide.
Celebi is also now available through the “A Ripple In Time” special research quest. Just like Mew, you need to do a series of potentially lengthy tasks, which we’ve covered in detail here: how to catch Celebi in Pokemon Go.
You can get Jirachi too if you complete the special research called Pokemon Go A Thousand Year Slumber. First introduced during Pokemon Go Fest 2019, we’ve got a guide on how to complete all of the tasks.
Technically, Meltan and its evolution Melmetal are mythical Pokemon instead of legendaries, but for the purposes of this guide, they count as legendaries. We’ve covered how to catch Meltan in Pokemon Goand Pokemon Let’s Go but the basic gist of things is that you either need to transfer a Pokemon from the former to the latter, to receive Meltan in the former, or complete the special research called “Let’s GO, Meltan.
If you participated in the Pokemon Go A Drive To Investigate special research, this is how you can obtain Genesect. Unfortunately, the ticket isn’t available any longer, but you can still complete the objectives if you acquired it before.
How Do I Catch Raid Bosses
Even with the maximum possible number of premier balls at your disposal, youre still not guaranteed to catch the Pokémon; especially if its a legendary at tier five. If you want to significantly increase your chances, youre going to need to use a golden razz berry.
Fortunately, golden razz berries are a reward for;defeating raid bosses in the first place, so if you raid often you should have plenty on you to increase the chances of capturing the boss.
Heres a round-up of other things you can do to increase your chances of catching a difficult raid boss:
- Throw a curveball by spinning the Poké ball before you throw it
- Get an excellent throw by landing the Poké ball within the circle when its small
- Get medals for the type of Pokémon youre aiming to catch

What Are Remote Raid Passes
The remote raid pass is a brand new item that allows you to raid from the comfort of your home. Niantic has introduced it with a Pokécoin bundle, which provides three for a single Pokécoin, and theyre also available to purchase in the shop individually.
Heres how the raid remote pass works in Pokémon Go:
- Remote raid passes are a new premium item that cost 100 Pokécoins ;individually , or as a pack of three for 250 Pokécoins
- A new Pokécoin bundle has been made available that provides three passes for a single Pokécoin
- You can only hold a limited number of remote raid passes at a time
- Once youve purchased one, you can participate in any raids that appear on your nearby screen remotely
- Twenty trainers can participate in the same raid battle, though theres a limit to the number of remote raiders
- Raids performed remotely still count towards research tasks and achievement medals
Niantic has also detailed a number of upcoming changes that will follow after the remote raid pass launches:
- The attack power of remote raiders will be reduced at a later time
- Those participating in person will see an increase in attack power
- The number of trainers that can participate remotely will be adjusted

Raise Your Trainer Level
This might be hard to take, but one of the reasons you keep finding low-level, basic Pokémon is because youre a low-level, basic Pokémon trainer. Your trainer level and the rarity of the Pokémon youll encounter are connected, so raising your level quickly will help you find those better Pokémon. If youre starting out, spend time visiting Poke Stops and making new friends in the game. Both of these will help you to improve your trainer score. As you increase your own abilities you can focus on catching Pokemon and winning battles.

The Legendary Titans Regirock Regice And Registeel
Arguably the most underwhelming pick of this top section is the trio of Regirock, Regice and Registeel.
The Legendary Titans have racked up almost as many appearances at the Legendary Birds so are hardly the most glamorous Pokemon. However, its their versatility that makes them so valuable.
All three of the above Pokemon can hold their own across every single PVP league in the game and theyre the only Legendary Pokemon that can accomplish this feat.
Advice For Catching Pokemon Go Legendaries
– Its disappointing but dont expect to catch on your first Raid. The catch rates differ per Legendary but the odds are not high.
– Increase your odds with curveballs and Golden Razz Berries but only do curveballs if you are definitely sure you can hit it. Dont waste Premier Balls unnecessarily because you have a limited stock.
– Throw your Premier Ball after a Legendary has just done its attack move to make sure they dont just flick your Premier Ball away.
– If you’re lucky enough to get a shiny Legendary after a raid, it’s an insta-catch! So use a Pinap Berry and as long as you don’t miss with every ball, you’ll definitely catch it.
– The faster you defeat the legendary, the more Premier Balls you’ll have to attempt the catch with. So enlist as many fellow trainers as possible and get the right counters for that legendary in your party!
– If you are having trouble with Raid numbers, try signing up for your local Discord or Facebook Pokemon Go community. Therell be plenty of people in the same situation and organising Raid groups.;

Azelf Mesprit And Uxie
These three Legendary Pokemon are very fascinating, as they’re the only Legendaries that can spawn in the wild, and they still can! Most Legendaries rotate in and out of raids, but these three are always available.
However, that’s not to say they’re common. They’re incredibly, incredibly rare. On top of their rarity, they’re also region-locked! Many people were able to get them by finding someone in another region while they were in raids, since you can now raid remotely, so it’s probably best to wait until that’s possible again.

Four: Take Down The Boss
When the countdown reaches zero, youll enter into a battle with your first;Pokémon. The battle interface is just like a gym battle, with fast and strong attacks and swiping to dodge. But instead of a one-on-one fight with a trainers;Pokémon, all of the people in your team will attack simultaneously, whittling down the bosss hit points until it reaches zero. This is why its so important to have a large group: the boss can only attack one;Pokémon/trainer combo at a time, while everyone can attack it during the entire battle.
You can swap out and heal;Pokémon if necessary, but keep an eye on the timer: if the boss still has hit points when it reaches zero, the entire group loses the fight. If you do manage to beat the raid boss, youll be showered with experience and rare items like Rare Candies and Golden Razz Berries. Youll also receive a number of Premier PokéBalls: the better you, your local team, and game team; do, the more Premier Balls youll receive.
