How The New Evolution Items Work In ‘pokmon Go’

POKEMON GO SUN STONE EVOLUTION AND HOW TO GET SPECIAL ITEMS!!

image: Dave Thier

Evolution got a bit more complicated in Pokémon GO last night. Originally it was a pretty straightforward affair: you got candy for catching, walking and transferring Pokémon, which you then used to turn your Squirtles into Wartortles, your Bellsprouts into Weepinbells and so on. For the most part, that’s still how it works after the big Gen 2 update, except for a few noteworthy exceptions. Certain Pokémon now require either a steel coat, a sun stone, a king’s rock, a dragon scale or an upgrade to evolve, and these items are all random drops from Pokéstops. Let’s break them down:

  • The metal coat transforms Onix into Steelix or Scyther into Scizor.
  • The king’s rock transforms Slowpoke into Slowking or Poliwhirl into Politoed.
  • The dragon’s scale transforms Seadra into Kingdra.
  • The sun stone transforms Gloom into Bellossom or Sunkern into Sunflora.
  • The upgrade transforms Porygon into Porygon2.

Note that in many of these instances the items are used for branching evolution: you’ll still be able to evolve Slowpoke into Slowbro using plain old candy, but you’ll need the king’s rock as well as the candy to get yourself a Slowking. This will slow down some people that had been stockpiling candy for the purpose of filling out their Pokédex as quickly as possible: I’ve got plenty of Onix candy but still no metal coat to snag my Steelix.

Q: Why Is Eevee A Game Mascot

Eevee is one of the most unconventional game mascots of all time. Game mascots have been known to be legendary Pokémon or starter Pokémon throughout the years. However, when the Pokémon company released spin-off games for the switch title Pokémon Lets Go Eevee and Lets Go Pikachu, Eevee was used as a game mascot alongside Pikachu. Considering these games are based on generation one, the decision made conceptual sense. In addition, Pikachu and Eevee are two of the most marketable Pokémon due to their popularity and cute design. For a non-mainline game, the Lets Go iteration sold extremely well. Thus Eevee can be considered a successful game mascot.

Which Pokemon Can Evolve With Sun Stone

There are two Pokemon that can evolve with the Sun Stone in Pokemon GO. They are Sunkern and Gloom. The easiest Pokemon to evolve with the Sun Stone is Sunkern, as it only requires 50 candies along with the Sun Stone to evolve it into Sunflora. So you have to focus on obtaining that particular Pokemon first. Gloom is a bit more difficult to evolve into Bellossom for a couple of reasons. First, the Bellossom evolution demands you to collect 100 Oddish candies in addition to the Sun Stone. Second, if you are trying to collect all the Pokemon, then you’ll;also need to take into account that it costs 100 Oddish candies to evolve Gloom into its other evolved form, Vileplume. So youll need to decide which Pokemon you want to obtain first, as both require a serious grind for candy. The best way to obtain Oddish and Sunkern candy is to use traditional methods. You can hatch them from eggs and catch them in the wild to obtain candy as fast as possible. It will still take a while for you to earn enough candy to obtain both Bellossom and Vileplume, but the effort should be well worth it if you want to catch all of them.

Pokmon Go: How To Get A Dragon Scale To Evolve Seadra Into Kingdra

This weeks Spotlight Hour in Pokémon Go has showered the world with Horseas and Seadra, which are perfect for evolving into Kingdra assuming you can find a Dragon Scale.

Evolving Horsea all the way to Kingdra is no mean feat. Pokémon Go makes it very challenging, asking first for 25 Horsea Candies to evolve to Seadra, then another 100 candies plus a Dragon Scale to evolve to Kingdra.

Thankfully, Pokémon caught during Spotlight Hour yield twice as many candies as normal, meaning that one half of evolving Horsea into Seadra and the Kingdra is easy. But how to get a Dragon Scale?

How To Use The Magnetic Lure In Pokemon Go

Save your Sun Stones [screenshot] : pokemongo

The Magnetic Lure is one of three new types of lure in the game and it works much like a normal lure, with some slight modifications. For 30 minutes, extra Pokemon will be attracted to the lure, but while a normal lure can attract any type of Pokemon, a Magnetic Lure will only attract electric, steel, and rock type pocket monsters.

It’s also an evolution item! If you’re within the vicinity of a Poke Stop with a Magnetic Lure applied, you can evolve Magneton and Nosepass into Magnezone and Probopass respectively – provided you have enough candy, of course. If you don’t want to fork out 200 coins for one yourself, you could also wait until the next Pokemon Go Community Day and find someone else who’s used one!

How To Get A Sinnoh Stone In Pokemon Go

There are currently three ways to get a Sinnoh Stone in Pokemon Go.;

  • On the completion of the final day of your 7 day Research Task
  • During PvP
  • Battling against the three team leaders on Community Day

Yes, those looking for Sinnoh Stones at Poke Stops or as part of the tasks themselves can stop torturing themselves. The two main places to get a Sinnoh Stone in Pokemon Go are currently only on the 7th day of your Research Task completion or as a reward for taking part in PvP. Unfortunately theres no guarantee that you will get a Sinnoh Stone as the end of your seven day streak but the chances are very high of a Sinnoh Stone dropping as well as your usual Pokemon Go Legendaries reward.

Another far less common place to find this elusive special item is during the newly introduced PvP, where it is possible for a Sinnoh Stone to drop as part of your post battle rewards. Theres no clear sign of the odds of this though as people have been rewarded for both wins and losses with this special item. Just like the Pokemon Go shiny list, its going to be a case of letting yourself not get too frustrated by the odds.

If you dont fancy spinning the PvP wheel, stick to getting through your Research Tasks every day and every seven days you should earn yourself a Sinnoh Stone. Then its merely a matter of choosing which of the 4th generation Pokemon youre going to evolve first.;

Pokemon Go: How To Get A Dragon Scale

There are a couple of ways to get Dragon Scales, but none are guaranteed.

That means youll want to complete as many of these tasks as possible especially since you can only use it once.

Field Research

Arguably the easiest method of earning a Dragon Scale, youll want to spin Pokestops wherever possible.

Each offers a 1% chance of an evolution item, including a Dragon Scale.

Youll up your chances by spinning Pokestops for seven days in a row, too!

Go Battle League Reward

Speaking of PvP, try competing in the Go Battle League for a chance to earn a Dragon Scale as a mystery item.

What You Should Know About Evolutions In Pokmon Go

As with Powering Up, there are some important things to bear in mind for evolving your Pokémon.

  • Evolving is one of the main ways you can earn a large amount of XP over a short period of time to level up quickly, and so if you happen to have a spare Lucky Egg, you might want to hold back on evolving saving those Pidgeys, Caterpies, and Weedles in particular.
  • Generally, you want to completely avoid evolving in the early game unless youre using that Lucky Egg strategy. You cant battle Gyms until Level 5, and cant reasonably get any Pokémon that could actually challenge a Gym until the Level 10-15 mark. As tempting as it can be to get that first one under your belt, because youll likely catch stronger Pokémon as you Level up as a Trainer anyway, it really is best to wait.
  • A Pokémons IVs or natural strength or potential stay the same after it has evolved.
  • A Pokémons moves are randomised each time it evolves, and cant be changed in any other way.
  • You should always evolve a Pokémon fully when you can so, a Geodude all the way through Graveler to a Golem because otherwise the time it takes to earn another 100 Candy for your respective Pokémon will likely see you level up enough to catch a higher Level version. Waiting to do it in one go saves you the time and resources it would cost to Power Up a low-Level Pokémon to the same Level as one youve caught later on.

SUN STONE ITEM LOCATION!! EVOLVE HELIOPTILE, GLOOM, PETILIL and COTTONEE! (Pokemon Sword and Shield)

Getting evolution items is slightly different than collecting candy. Theyre luck-based drops youll be able to obtain from PokéStop Discs. Considering there are a handful of them and the drop rates of evolution items are lower than other ones, it may take a while to land the evolution item you need.

Theres no way of knowing which evolution item youll get from spinning PokéStops, meaning you should have as many of them as possible while youre out and about so you can have a stack for later.;

From time to time, evolution items are also handed out as research quest rewards during special events. These research challenges usually require you to complete certain tasks, and most of them only take a couple of hours to complete.

The prize labeled as Mystery Item in the Go Battle League also has a small chance of being an evolution item, but the drop rates of them for this method are also unknown.

Pokemon Go Wiki Guide

The Sun Stone is another of the new Evolution Items that can be used in conjunction with Pokemon Candy to evolve some of the Gen 1 Pokemon to new Gen 2 evolutions.

Initially there were rumors indicating that Evolution Items were guaranteed rewards for 7-day Pokestop streaks, but that has been discredited. Evolution items are incredibly rare and have less than a 1% chance of being found at Pokestops.

However, as of an app update in late March 2017 you are now guaranteed an Evolution Item for a 7-day Pokestop streak.

Currently, the applicable Pokemon for this item is Gloom, who can evolve into Bellossom using the Sun Stone as well as 100 OddishCandy, or into Vileplume using just candy; and;Sunkern, who can evolve into Sunflora using the Sun Stone as well as 50 Sunkern Candy.

How Iv Affects Max Cp

Lets say I have two Snorlaxes and I am a level 40 player . Both are currently at 2500 CP, but:

  • one has 100% IVs and Max CP of 3355
  • the other has 0% IVs and Max CP of 2926

If I chose to power up the 100% IV Snorlax to its max CP, I would need to power it up all the way to 3355 CP, which is the max CP Snorlax can have . However, if I were to power up the 0% IV Snorlax, it would only go to 2926 CP which is the max it can have with 0% IVs.

IV %
429

When it comes to a Snorlax, you can expect there is approximately;a 400 CP difference between 100% IVs and 0, but lets not forget that;Snorlax is one of the highest CPs in the game: this 400 CP difference is around the maximum difference between highest and lowest CP of any given Pokemon.

This really isnt a huge difference.;If you have a Pokemon that is in the highest or second highest IV tier, it really is not;that far away from perfect Max CP. So evolving a Pokemon with IVs in the first or second tier is a good idea, you dont need to wait for the perfect IVs.

Never power up a Pokémon;before evolving it! If you get a bad moveset, its CP value doesnt really matter and you probably dont want to power up it!

How To Get Evolution Items

ALL EVOLUTION STONES IN POKEMON SUN AND MOON – How and Where to get ALL Evolution Stones!

The only way to get evolution items is by spinning PokeStops. Like with the new berries, though, they don’t drop as often as balls and razz berries. After more than fifty spins at various stops, I only got one sun stone. Many others are reporting similar findings, with some reporting a drop rate of 1 percent or less. Your mileage may vary, but don’t expect to collect them quickly.

If you play the game every day, you can get at least one evolution item per week, though. When you get the seven-day streak bonus one evolution item is guaranteed to drop. This only counts for the First PokeStop of the Day streak, not the First Pokemon of the Day streak. The evolution item you get is totally random, but it’s better than just relying on a PokeStop drops.
