If you were a Pokemon fan back in the days of the Nintendo 64 console, you might just remember the classic spin-off game Pokemon Snap. The object of this Pokemon spin-off was to snap creative in-game photos of various creatures, and there were several tie-in cards in Japans Pokemon Trainer Magazine to help increase the hype among fans to try this new game.
This card was a Pikachu card with the model from Pokemon Snap as the art, making for a relatively hilarious-looking card that only could be found within this magazine in 1999. Miyabihobby has a record of an unopened magazine being sold for 100,000, or about $900 USD, but PSA Card has records of auctions ranging between $300 and $1000 for perfect condition grades.
Holographic First Edition Machamp: $6000
The Kanto starters and legendaries aren’t the only original Pokemon to boast high-value shadowless holographic cards. Nearly any holographic first edition rare card from the original set can grow immensely in price compared to other rare Pokemon cards, but since they arent as actively hunted, their prices can vary far more wildly based on their quality.
Machamp is one of these. According to PSA Cards range of auction prices based on the cards quality classification, perfect mint condition Machamps of this kind can land between $800 and $6000, while dropping just one rating down will result in prices around $200 and $900. This card in particular truly proves how important it is to keep your trading cards safe through the years, as you never know just what will become valuable twenty years later.

There is no more iconic card in the Pokémon TCG than the Charizard Base Set 1st Edition 4/102, and in the last 12 months, this card has made plenty of headlines from Logic purchasing a PSA 10 version of the card for $220,000 in October of 2020, to Logan Paul wearing the same card around his neck graded a BGS 10 to his exhibition against Floyd Mayweather in June 2021. This Charizard card is the most sought-after Pokémon card that exists. What makes it so special is that it was part of the first print run of the English edition of the beloved trading card game, making it an extremely rare Pokémon card. The card features a 1st Edition stamp below the card artwork, and it is shadowless, meaning that there is no drop shadow to the right of the art panel. A Charizard Base Set 1st Edition PSA 9 sold for $26,000 in late 2020 making it the most expensive Pokémon card to ever sell on StockX.
While all of these Pokémon cards carry substantial value, they still do not come close to the record for the most expensive Pokémon cards ever. Logan Paul claims his Charizard Base Set 1st Edition BGS 10 is a million-dollar card, but that price has yet to be seen. For some reason, this card makes me feel old.; I remember when this set came out, and I thought, Why are they reprinting Base Set already again?!; Now this reprint set is already 15 years old!; And I wish I had invested a little more heavily in reverse foils.;;

In the late 1990s and early 2000s, an annual Pokemon Trading Card Game tournament was held in Honolulu, Hawaii. Today were looking up close and personal at the newest expansion for Pokemon cards, aka Pokemon TCG: The Card Game: Sword & Shield Darkness Ablaze! This set will be released to the public on August 14, 2020. Weve got early access here so you can see what some of the most awesome cards look like and whats included in the set before said set hits stores.
First take a peek at the two sorts of standard shiny foil youll be seeing in this set. The patterns for this set remain the same as they were with the past couple of sets for Sword & Shield. On the left youve got the standard rare foil Blaziken, complete with the piano keys of shiny foil in the cards main artwork. On the right youll see the reverse holo, or reverse shiny version of the same card.
Like most modern Pokemon TCG sets, you have the opportunity to find more than one rare card per pack. Each pack has at least one shiny holographic card that one card can be common, uncommon, or rare. Each pack is arranged with common cards first, then the shiny card, the rare card, then three uncommons and an energy card. At the bottom of the stack in any pack is a QR code card you can use to get a pack in the Pokemon TCG digital game.
The Rainbow V version of the Scizor card has a completely different illustration, and a far more flat application of color. This card, like most Rainbow versions of Pokemon in the card game, has a blast of color behind it, and silver borders, as well as a textured top layer.

To the untrained eye, the Charizard Base Set Unlimited Print 4/102 may look identical to the most expensive and rarest Pokémon card on this list, but there are many key differences. This edition of the original English language Base Set Charizard card features the same artwork by Mitsuhiro Arita, but it lacks the 1st Edition stamp and also features a drop shadow to the right of the art panel. This card was part of the Unlimited print run of the 1999 Pokémon Base Set meaning its 1st Edition counterpart is a much more rare Pokémon card. The original publisher of the English Pokémon card game was Wizards of the Coast, and after their initial print runs of the Pokémon Base Set, they received some criticism that the card design was too boring. To combat these complaints they added a shadow effect to the right side of the art panel. While the shadow may have made the card look more aesthetically pleasing back in the day, today it does carry a more affordable price tag. A Charizard Base Set Unlimited Print 4/102 PSA 10 sold for as high as $8,100 on StockX making it the second most expensive Pokémon card to sell on StockX.
Pokemon Players Club Shiny Espeon: $2000
If you ever wanted proof about how much a Pokemon cards price can change just because of the Pokemon on it, you need to look further than the Pokemon Players Club Shiny Espeon. This card is almost identical in story to the Umbreon card you saw just a moment ago, but required only 40,000 experience points instead of 70,000.

Despite being more available, Troll and Toad has this card for a slightly higher price of just under $2000. This is likely because Espeons shiny form is more noticeable than Umbreons, since the bright neon-green fur is a lot more distinctive and Espeon has its own unique degree of popularity.

Holographic Shadowless Blastoise: $2475
Out of the three final-evolution Kanto starters, it’s Blastoise who has the least valuable Shadowless holographic card, reaching heights of $2475 on Pokemon Prices. We say “least valuable”, but that’s still a lot of money for just the one card, and its hardly far behind its sibling Venusaur.
That’s if Blastoise is still in mint condition, of course, which is a big ask considering these cards are over 20 years old. Carrying the powerful Water-type move Hydro Pump, this version of Blastoise was a pretty impressive card to carry in your deck back in the day, but at this point its still a solid collectible card.
