That is a lot of work for a small Pokémon, but Meltan and its evolved form, Melmetal, is the only Mythical Pokémon that can be placed in gyms. Meltan isnt super great at attacking or defending and is more of a Pokédex filler, but Melmetal is a pretty OK defender. It does, however, require 400 candy to evolve, so unless youre planning on walking a lot with a Meltan, you should work on grabbing extra Meltan through other methods.
How To Evolve Meltan Into Melmetal In Pokmon Sword And Shield

Meltan and Melmetal can finally be added to Pokemon Sword and Shield today thanks to Pokémon Home, even if the method to get the Pokémon into the game is tedious.
Meltan is easy to obtain in Pokémon Go, but trainers are looking for easy ways to get it to evolve to Melmetal. Theres no method to evolve the Pokémon on Nintendo Switch similar to Lets Go, but there is a way to get Melmetal.
The only way to get a Melmetal is through Pokémon Go by getting 400 Candies to evolve Meltan.
Then you need to transfer the Melmetal into Pokémon: Lets Go, transfer it to Home, and finally pass it along to Pokemon Sword and Shield through Home.
Its obviously not ideal and a little time-consuming, but thats the only way to do it at this time. There might be a way to evolve it in the future DLC expansions, but right now, you might need to wait weeks to get enough candy in Pokémon Go to get Melmetal in the first place.
How To Evolve Meltan Into Melmetal
If you want to evolve Meltan in Pokemon Go into the formidable Melmetal, you’re going to need a whopping 400 Meltan candies, so get some Pinaps fed to all the Meltan that come out of your special Mystery Box. Disappointingly, you can’t evolve Meltan within Pokemon Let’s Go so you’ll need to evolve it in Pokemon Go to Melmetal then transfer it over.

How To Get Meltan In Pokmon Let’s Go
The two-way reliance between Pokémon Let’s Go on Switch and Pokémon Go continues here, as the only way you can get a Meltan in Let’s Go is to trade it from Pokémon Go!
There’s no way to catch or acquire a Meltan in Let’s Go on Switch, or for that matter a Melmetal, in Pokémon Let’s Go otherwise. So you need to first get it in Pokémon Go, and then trade it over.
Worth noting as well is the fact that, as far as we know, there’s no way to evolve Meltan into Melmetal once you’ve transferred the Meltan to Let’s Go.
As transferring is one-way – as in, you can’t take any Pokémon from Let’s Go over to Go, only from the mobile Go to the Switch’s Let’s Go – that means you need to evolve a Meltan in Pokémon Go first, then transfer it to Let’s Go, in order to get the big boy Melmetal in Let’s Go, too.

Open Up The Mystery Box You Receive In Pokemon Go
Youll find the Mystery Box inside the item pocket in Pokemon Go, nestled there just waiting to be opened. Once youve chosen to open it, itll remain open for 30 minutes, spewing out Meltan into the world.
Then, once the box has closed, youll have seven days to open it back up again, after which point youll need transfer a Pokemon from Go to Lets Go again to get a new Mystery Box. You can only open the Mystery Box once per day though, so dont spam it!

Hopefully players have saved up enough candies to evolve a Magnemite before this. As for catching Exeggcute, this should happen as players walk around because the creature isn’t all that uncommon. Finally, trainers don’t necessarily have to win the raids they take part in, so they are free to jump in and then jump out with their daily raid pass to complete this challenge. Finishing off this quest will net them a Silver Pinap Berry, a Metal Coat, and 10 Ultra Balls.

Shiny Meltan To Return In Pokemon Go
With the new update, players will be able to open a Mystery Box by simply transferring one of the Pokemon creatures to the Pokemon HOME cloud service. However, if these Mystery Boxes are opened at the time of a special event, players will have an opportunity to run into a Shiny Meltan. Meltan is a rare and mysterious Pokemon type which only appears in Pokemon GO when players get to open a Mystery Box.
The Shiny Meltan made a brief appearance in the video game after it was added as part of a limited-time event last year. Unfortunately, it soon disappeared from the game and hasnt returned ever since. Hopefully, there will soon be a Shiny Meltan event which will allow all the Pokemon GO fans to encounter the mysterious Pokemon once again.

The special limited-time events will only take place once the integration between Pokemon GO and Pokemon is finally available. The Pokemon Company has revealed that the integration event will take place later this year, but it hasnt provided an exact date to the fans.
For the unversed, Pokemon HOME is actually a cloud-based service which allows Pokemon trainers to manage and store all of their favourite Pokemons from a bunch of different Pokemon games. Currently, Pokemon fans can only transfer their Pokemon creatures from Pokemon Bank, Pokemon Sword and Shield and Pokemon: Lets Go, Eevee and Pikachu to the cloud storage service.

Can I Get More Than One Mystery Box
Seeing as catching and transferring multiple Meltan will be your most reliable method of gathering Meltan candies, youre likely wondering whether youll have more than the 30 minutes your first Mystery Box gives you to catch more. That answer is yes.
It has been confirmed that players will be able to earn more Mystery Boxes at regular intervals. Theres an unspecified timer that dictates when youll be able to earn another Mystery Box, and once we know the details of that timer well share them with you. For now, just know that your path to Melmetal should be walkable so long as you have regular access to Pokémon GO and Pokémon Lets Go.

To start: a Meltan mystery box is a special item that you can use to spawn a whole bunch of Meltan around you: those are the weird little hex-nuts-on-silvery-slime creatures that marked the only Pokemon introduced for the first time in Pokemon GO. You get them from transferring

How Do You Get Rare Candy

Raid battles: A great way to get more rare candy is to participate in raid battles, defeating a raid boss can get you anywhere between zero to twelve rare goodies, zero because there may nonetheless be a risk that you wont be rewarded with rare items.

How To Get Meltan Box Without Nintendo Switch
You can get Meltan box by linking your Pokémon Go account in Pokémon HOME. Once connected, you can transfer a Pokémon from Pokemon Go to Pokémon HOME and that gives you a Mysterious Box.

Finally, trainers can apply the same Home method to transfer Meltan and Melmetal into Pokemon Sword and Shield, officially welcoming the mythical Pokemon to the Galar Region. Be aware that this process is final and both Steel-types won’t be able to transfer back to Pokemon: Let’s Go from Home. Pokemon Go: Shiny Meltan Coming To Mystery Box For Limited Time
Niantic announces that Shiny Meltan returns for a limited time, with players able to encounter it and potentially catch it when opening Pokemon GO’s Mystery Box.
Not too long ago, it was revealed that the upcoming Safari Zone Sentosa event would make it easier for players around the world to be able to catch the ultra-rare Shiny Shuckle in Pokemon GO for a limited time. Speaking of Pokemon available for a brief period of time, the video game developer Niantic also announced that Shiny Meltan would be returning for a short span, with players potentially able to encounter it upon using the Mystery Box.
According to Niantic, Shiny Meltan will be returning to Pokemon GO starting on April 24, 2019 at 1:00 PM PDT, and will be leaving the mobile augmented reality game on May 5, 2019 at 1:00 PM PDT. What’s more is that PoGO Trainers will only have to wait 3 days in between opening Mystery Boxes rather than the standard waiting period of 7 days. Additionally, this 3-day cooldown period will not end with the event, as it will become the new standard cooldown period for Mystery Boxes.
