Pokemon Go Shuts Down Go Battle League Due To Exploit
Pokemon Go has temporarily shut down its Go Battle League to deal with a major exploit. Last night, Pokemon Go announced that its Go Battle League would be shut down for an indeterminite amount of time to fix an unknown exploit that some players have used to advance to the top of the board. Although it’s unclear exactly what caused the exploit, several players have pointed out that a trainer with the username “JesusG1310” rose to the top of GO Battle League’s leaderboard despite playing far less battles than other elite trainers. Several videos of the player’s battle showed him somehow gaining extra energy during a Charge Move attack, thus gaining a competitive advantage.
Ok so I just battled the guy that now 3 different people claim got extra energy on his Melmetal. Heres my video. By my count he got 12 Razor Leafs on his Leafeon and somehow got two LBs. Even if I missed 1-2, he was nowhere near the 18 RL necessary.

In a statement posted on its webpage, Pokemon Go noted that it had a “zero tolerance” policy for cheating, which is why they shut down the entire Go Battle League while resolving the exploit. They also noted that, while they wouldn’t share additional details about individual cheating investigations, they were working to mitigate the issue to restore integrity to the GO Battle League to allow everyone equal footing once again. Once the exploit is fixed, Pokemon Go would re-open its GO Battle League for all trainers.

Pokémon Go players are up in arms after an update to the game removed a feature that helped locate nearby Pokémon and forced third-party maps of Pokémon locations to shut down.
The games first big update changed a variety of things about the app, including adding the ability to alter your trainers appearance, tweaking the dynamics of curveballs, and changing part of the way gym battles work and improving the way users transfer unwanted Pokémon to professor Willow.
But the change with the biggest impact for the majority of players has been the removal of the footprint distance readings from the nearby Pokémon tracker. At the same time, services including Pokévision, which allowed players to spot where individual Pokémon were likely to pop up, have been forced to shut down.

Cups In The Pokmon Go Battle League
In addtion to the various leagues, the Pokémon Go Battle League also holds cups. These themed special competitions have different restrictions than the standard leagues. In the past, these cups have included Premier Cups, which had similar CP restrictions as the various leagues, but only non-Legendary Pokémon could participate, and the Flying Cup, which only allowed Flying type Pokémon.
For Season 7, the following Cups will be featured:
- The Ultra League Premier Cup will run April 26 through May 10.
- The Great League Remix Cup will run April 12-26.
- The Retro Cup only allows the first 15 Pokémon types excluding Dark, Steel, and Fairy and has a 1,500 CP limit. It will run May 10-17.
- The Kanto Cup has a 1,500 CP limit and only allows Pokémon with a Pokédex number from 1 to 151. It is unranked and runs from May 24-31.
- More cups will be revealed in the second half of Season 7.
Pokemon Go Cooldown Rules
What is soft ban?
If you violate the Cooldown Rules, the game account will get soft banned. After that, youll get Try Again Later error when you try to spin pokestops and all pokemons will flee when you try to catch.
What is Cooldown Rules?
A Cooldown is the amount of time you need to wait after using an in-game action. This is calculated from the distance you will travel between your in-game actions.
For example, if you just triggered action on location A, then you want to fly to 10km far away; and keep playing. You need to wait more than 7 minutes before triggering actions according to the cooldown chart. The maximum cooldown time is 2 hours.

Pokmon Go Boycott And Niantic’s Response
On Aug. 5, 2021, tens of thousands of Pokémon Go players participated in a boycott and social media campaign, protesting Niantic’s rollback of pandemic bonuses like an increased radius around Pokéstops and Gyms in the U.S. and New Zealand. That evening, Niantic responded by delaying any decisions until Sept. 1 but promised to involve “community leaders” in the discussions.
“We are assembling an internal cross-functional team to develop proposals designed to preserve our mission of inspiring people to explore the world together, while also addressing specific concerns that have been raised regarding interaction distance. We will share the findings of this task force by the next in-game season change . As part of this process, we will also be reaching out to community leaders in the coming days to join us in this dialogue.”
Although many remain skeptical about this response, YouTuber and Pokémon Go player ZoëTwoDots has confirmed that Niantic reached out to her as one of the community members who will provide feedback to its task force. For those unaware, ZoëTwoDots was featured in the lead up to Pokémon Go Fest 2021. She was also responsible for the community letter that was shared by many players during the initial boycott and was one of the first to call out Niantic for its weak response.

Pokemon Go doesn’t feel like a fad. Even before Pokemon Go’s release, seemingly everyone knew about the Pokemon franchise–even my mom and probably yours. That makes it stand apart from a game like Draw Something, which everyone was talking about for about two weeks. I think Pokemon Go is a wonderful game that is simple yet profound. Walking around my neighborhood in search of Pokemon for the past week is an experience I never thought I’d get to have. The idea of catching Pokemon in the real world is pretty much genius, and while there are no doubt some things that could be improved, the game is off to a very solid start. Developer Niantic Labs will surely address the feedback through future updates; it feels as if the game is only going to get better. We know new features such as trading are on the way and it’s exciting to think about what else Niantic might be cooking up to keep players engaged. Pokemon Go is sitting at the top of the charts now and, though it may not be there forever, never bet against Pokemon.

After numerous reports from Trainers about a potential exploit in the Pokémon Go Battle League following the most recent server maintenance, Niantic has addressed the community and disabled all Pokémon Go Battle League battles until further notices. Although Niantic did not specify what specific exploit it was addressing, YouTuber JRskatr shared a video yesterday showing an exploit he found in which Melmetal is able to use its charged move, Rock Slide far more often, often with only one or two quick attacks instead of the usual five, giving players using Melmetal an extremely unfair advantage. Other players on Twitch have shared videos battling with the same user from JRskatr’s video, suggesting that the bug said player was exploiting, allowed his Melmetal to continue using fast attacks while the charged attack was happening. The user in question rose very quickly over the last two days to the top spot on the leaderboard.
Heracross Goes Missing And Nz Locks Down
Right on the heels of the boycott, Niantic made a significant change to the Ultra Unlock part two event that only further upset the community. The regional exclusive Heracross was one of the Pokémon featured in this event, and for the first time, its Shiny variant was available.
However, unlike in past events where new Shiny variants were introduced, Heracross was removed from wild spawns entirely. Even in areas where players could normally encounter Heracross, the only chance of catching one was locked behind Raids.
This meant players who wanted a reasonable chance of catching a Shiny Heracross would need to buy a lot of Raid Passes. While Niantic insists that removing pandemic bonuses was to encourage players to exercise, explore, and connect with real places worth exploring, quite a few players pointed out that Remote Raid Passes mean players can pay to play from home.

Niantic Continues To Pretend Covid Is Over
Beyond the rollback of pandemic bonuses, Niantic seems to be carrying on like the pandemic is over. What is especially concerning is a pair of hashtags Niantic has been pushing: #MeetYouOutThere and #TogetherWeRaid. This started in the lead-up to Pokémon Go Fest 2021, during which Niantic hosted several live events on top of the global virtual event, but has only gotten worse since.

Niantic has tweeted images like these many, many times from its various accounts, featuring mostly unmasked players gathering for Pokémon Go, Ingress, and Harry Potter Wizards Unite. Over the past weekend, Niantic hosted seven Niantic Explorer Community Meet-Ups in cities across the U.S., including D.C. and New York City. As if getting players to meet up in these crowded cities wasn’t bad enough, Niantic encourages participants to gather inside small local businesses.
Were we not in the midst of a global pandemic, this would be a fun way to spend the afternoon with like-minded players. It’d be a nice boost for small businesses, as well as an excuse to spend the weekend playing Pokémon Go. Instead, it sends a mixed message about how Niantic views the pandemic. This behavior is grossly irresponsible and inexcusable.

Basic Vs Premium Rewards In The Pokmon Go Battle League
For players who have the extra PokéCoins there is an option to earn better Rewards for winning Battles. At the beginning of each Pokémon Go Battle League Set, you can choose between Basic and Premium Rewards. These Rewards include Berries, Stardust, TMs, and Pokémon Encounters.
The Pokémon you can encounter do not change between Premium and Basic, but they do get better as you rank up. Your first encounters for certain Ranks are guaranteed. For Season Seven, the Pokémon reward encounters and some of the other rewards are inspired by Elesa, a trainer introduced in Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version:
- Rank 1: Guaranteed encounter with Zebstrika.
- Rank 1-9: Possible encounters with Poliwhirl, Flaaffy, Pupitar, or Galvantula.
- Rank 10: Pikachu Libre avatar items.
- Rank 10-15: Possible encounters with Medicham, Frillish, or Stunfisk.
- Rank 15-20: Possible encounters with Scraggy, Lampent, Rufflet, or Shiny Rufflet.
- Rank 19: An Elite Charged TM plus an Elite Fast TM as an end-of-season reward.
- Rank 20-24: Encounter the Legendary Pokémon appearing in five-star raids at the time.
- Ace Rank: Encounter with Deino.
- Legend Rank: Encounter with Pikachu Libre. This will be the only time you’ll be able to encounter a Pikachu Libre during the season. You’ll also earn a pose and avatar items inspired by Elesa.
- Catching Poliwhirl, Flaaffy, Pupitar, Medicham, Scraggy, Galvantula, Lampent, and Stunfisk in Battle League reward encounters will also earn you more Candy XL than normal.
Pokemon Go Downtime: Maintenance Schedule For June 2020
If you’ve come to this page just because you’re screaming “Pokemon Go down?!” after trying to log in, have no fear. It’s not broken. It’s temporary, and has a defined end time . Here’s what time the maintenance begins in each territory, plus when Pokemon Go will be back.
- UK Time: 7pm until 2am
- Central Europe: 8pm until 3am
- Eastern US/NA: 2pm until 2pm
- Western US/NA: 11am until 6pm
- Australia: 4am until 11am
Developer Niantic hasn’t given any specific reason for why Pokemon Go is going down, but any game needs to have its servers given some love and attention every now and then in order to keep them ticking over – and if we’re lucky, updates like this can also lead to new features. Niantic isn’t being drawn, however, and is simply apologizing for any inconvenience.

Why Is Pokmon Go Going Offline For Maintenance
The only reason Niantic has given for taking Pokémon Go offline is server maintenance.
“We apologize in advance for any inconvenience that this might cause. This will have no impact on your account,” Niantic added.

While this brings little insight on exactly what Niantic are doing, it could be, as Eurogamer suggests, that Niantic are transferring the game onto new servers, which they couldn’t do if the game was live.
Transfers Between Pokmon Go And Pokmon Home Will Have A Cooldown Period

Yesterday, The Pokémon Company confirmedPokémon HOME would be made compatible with Pokémon GO before the end of the year.
Initially, there were some concerns. As originally spotted by Serebii, an official Pokémon Support article indicated PokéCoins would be required to transfer pocket monsters from the augmented reality mobile game to HOME. Fortunately, this wasn’t the whole picture.
The article was later updated to clarify, stating that the purpose of PokéCoins will apparently be to shorten a transfer cooldown period. In other words – you’ll need to spend PokéCoins to speed up the transfer process. Here’s the rundown, courtesy of Serebii on Twitter:
Serebii Update: The Pokémon Company Support page has put a new clarification about Pokémon GO to HOME transfer.After transferring, you will have a cooldown before you can transfer again. This cooldown can be shortened by paying PokéCoins Serebii.net
Once again, this update will arrive before the end of the year. When it does, trainers who transfer a monster from GO to HOME will receive a Mystery Gift for a special Melmetal which can Gigantamax.
