    Type Strategy In Pokmon Go

    Every Pokémon Type EXPLAINED

As the game nears its fourth anniversary this summer, there are many game modes that have been implemented during Pokémon Gos lifespan. The earliest addition, Gym Battles, let players leave their Pokémon at their teams gym to defend it. The best Pokémon types to place as defenders are those with fewer type weaknesses. Bulky normal types, like Snorlax, Blissey, and Slaking, are often seen defending gyms because they only resist Fighting types. If other trainers have already placed their Pokémon in a gym, consider placing a Pokémon that covers their weakness. So if a Pokémon weak to Fighting is defending, place a Pokémon with Psychic, Flying or Fairy moves in the gym to cover that weakness. This forces players attacking the gym to have more diverse teams to compensate and not just brute force their way through with 1 type.

Another type of battle are the online bouts players can participate from the comfort of their home. They select 3 Pokémon and then head into battle against another player in a similar tier of difficulty. Which types of Pokémon players ought to bring is much harder to choose from, as unlike with gym battles, theres no telling what the opponent may have. When picking team composition, choose Pokémon with varying types and moves that complement one another. For example, bring a water type like Piplup along if another party member is weak to fire or ground their water moves will help counter the weaknesses of their teammates.

    What Is The Strongest Pokemon

Arceus, Eternatus, Zacian, Zamazenta, Mega Mewtwo X and Y, and Kyurem all rank among the strongest Pokemon in the series thus far, but for different reasons.

From a lore and story perspective, Arceus is akin to a god-like character in Pokemon. Though its not portrayed this way across the Pokemon franchise consistently, there are allusions to Arceus having created the entire universe of Pokemon and having formed the Sinnoh region specifically. Despite the lofty expectations that might set for its in-game strength, Arceus lacks the firepower of special legendary Pokemon like Lugia, Palkia, and Solgaleo.

Throughout every iteration of the Pokemon video game series, the strongest creature encountered thus far is Eternamax Eternatus. This version of Eternatus has the strongest HP, defense, and special defense stats in the series with very high attack and speed stats to go along with them. Unfortunately, this version of Eternatus is exclusively shown as a boss in Pokemon Sword and Shield, with its normal version being among the strongest, but just a bit shy of that mark.

There are 18 Pokemon types in all: Normal, Fire, Water, Grass, Flying, Fighting, Poison, Electric, Ground, Rock, Psychic, Ice, Bug, Ghost, Steel, Dragon, Dark and Fairy. Here’s a full type chart showing how they all interact. Here’s how to use the chart:

    • If you’re attacking, work from your type on the left to the enemy type on the top. If defending, do the opposite – find your type on the top and work left to the attacker list.
    • A 1x indicates an attack will do standard damage based on your Pokemon and the move’s stats.
    • A 2x indicates a Super-effective move – it’ll do double the normal amount of damage.
    • A 0.5 indicates a Not very effective move – it’ll do half the normal amount of damage.
    • A 0 indicates a Not effective move, which won’t do any damage at all.

If you prefer your strengths and weaknesses to be written out a little more in black-and-white, here they are by Pokemon type. In this table…

    • The Super Effective Vs. column shows what the type on the left is effective against in battle.
    • The Not Very Effective Vs. column reveals the types the attacking type will do less damage to. Immunities are also listed here – they’re always last, and are denoted by brackets.
    • The Resist Damage column shows you what moves won’t be very effective against the Pokemon type on the left when it is defending.
    • The Weak Vs. column reveals what types the type listed on the left will suffer super effective moves when attacked by their moves.

All Pokemon Elemental Types!!! by Gymjack on DeviantArt

Nowadays, eighteen types dominate the Pokémon world. Here’s how the rank, from the weakest Pokémon types to the most powerful.

When Pokémon first premiered in 1996, the type-matchup chart looked a lot different. Generation II introduced the Dark and immensely useful Steel-type and nothing was ever the same. Fifteen years passed before a new addition came, with Fairy arriving to balance out the seemingly overpowered Dragon-type.

Nowadays, eighteen types dominate the Pokémon world. Some definitely rank higher, especially those with the coolest Pokémon on their ranks or the most resistances and immunities. Others are stuck at the bottom of the barrel, whether because of their frailty or lack of memorable mons. All of them create the perfect balance, though, providing color and variety to the 898 Pokémon species that currently exist.

We created a table chart showing all Pokémon’s types, which types they strike hard, and which types strike them. Below the chart, there’s an explanation about single and double-type Pokémon and how attacks behave in these situations.

    Every Pokmon Has A Type

Every Pokémon in Pokémon Sword and Shield has at least one of the 18 types in the game. Some Pokémon, like the Hootoot, even have two types. The entire list of types found in the game are as follows:

    • Steel
    • Water

You can see what type a particular Pokémon is by looking in your Pokédex or your menu once you encountered the Pokémon in the game.

Even more importantly, every move in the game also has a type, so although you may have a Grass Pokémon like Grookey , you’ll notice that the moves it knows vary by type.

Certain attack types do more damage to certain types of Pokémon, while certain others will do less. There are even some attack types that won’t affect certain Pokémon types at all.

The more you can remember from the table below, the better, as it will help you know which Pokémon and which moves to use against your opponents. Here’s a quick guide on how to read this table:

    • Type: The type of Pokémon/move
    • Super Effective: The types of Pokémon the attack type will do double damage against
    • Not Very Effective: The types of Pokémon the attack type will do half damage against
    • Weak: The types of attacks that will do double damage to a Pokémon of this type
    • Immune: Types that this Pokémon type is immune to meaning they take no damage.

Using the information above and the table,e below, you can deduce everything you need to know about how each type interacts with each other. Here’s an example of how this breaks down:

    • Bug attacks are super effective against Grass and Psychic-type Pokémon and will deal double damage.
    • Bug attacks will do half damage to Fighting, Flying, Poison, Ghost, Steel, Fire, Dark-type Pokémon.
    • Bug Pokémon are weak to Flying, Rock, Fire, and thus will take double damage from these types of attacks.
    • Bug Pokémon are not immune to any damage.

When using the type chart for older mainline Pokémon games bear in mind that the following changes were made to the type system. These changes applied to all subsequent games, including remake titles

    Generation 6

    • Fairy type added
    • Ghost and Dark-type moves made neutral against Steel

    Generation 2

    • Dark and Steel types added

    • Poison-type moves made neutral against Bug
    • Ice types made not very effective against Fire
    • A programming bug that made the Ghost-type move Lick ineffective against Psychic Pokémon was fixed

Pokemon Type Weaknesses And Strengths Chart Explained

Despite the table above, there is actually much more to type effectiveness than meets the eye. For example:

    • Super effective moves will deal double the damage, whereas weak moves will deal half. There are also a few moves that will deal no damage at all, such as normal-type attacks against ghost-types.
    • Dual-types also play an important role. Dual-type Pokemon, as the name suggests, have two types. If the move you are using is effective against both the opposing Pokemons typing, it will deal 4x the damage. Conversely, if the move is weak against both, then it will be just 1/4 of the overall damage.

The best example of a super-effective type attack is using a water attack against a rock and/or ground type. In this instance, Geodude would be 4x more susceptible against any water Pokemon attacks directed at it.

The opposite of this would occur when a Fairy-type move is used a mon like Heatran, which is a dual steel/fire-type. This would result in just 1/4 of the damage.

Learning all of these strengths and weaknesses will undoubtedly take time, but utilizing our guide here when in doubt will help you on your way to becoming Galars number one trainer in the region!
