There are three reasons why a trainer would want to teach one of their Pokemon an old move. The first and most obvious is that they taught the Pokemon a new move that replaced an essential one. The third reason trainers might want to teach a Pokemon an old move is that, when they evolve, they get access to a new move that cant be learned through level up.

I’ve used the Move Relearner to teach my Torterra’s Woodhammer, my Infernape’s Thunder Punch, and a lot of other things moves they never actually learned by level up that were still in their move pool. Case in point my Lucario in Black 2 he evolved in his mid teens, but I still used a Heart Scale on him to get Dark Pulse later.

According to Serebii though, it’s in Metagross’s movepool for level 45 and there’s no special notes about it. By my own experience though, OP should be okay.
