Why Target Has Suspended Trading Card Sales
Target stopped selling the trading cards in store after a fight broke out among customers.
Four men aged between 23 and 35 physically assaulted a 35-year-old man in a Target parking lot in a dispute over the cards, resulting in the victim suffering minor injuries. The disagreement ended when the victim, who has a concealed carry weapons license, accessed his gun and the suspects fled, though no shots were fired.
In a statement, Target said that it would “temporarily suspend the sale of MLB, NFL, NBA, and Pokémon trading cards within our stores,” but would still sell them online. A Target spokesperson said: “The safety of our guests and our team is our top priority.”
Why Are Pokemon Cards Out Of Stock Everywhere
Anyone who has tried to buy Pokemon cards lately will likely have noticed that theyre sold out everywhere. Its practically impossible to get a Pokemon: Trading Card Game booster pack these days, which is effectively blocking many from playing. Fans are wondering whats causing this trend of Pokemon cards being out of stock.
Its Easy To Find Out The Price Of A Specific Card
There are plenty of resources online for checking the specifications of every Pokémon card ever printed, including the approximate value of each.
Websites such as pokemonprice.com even offer graphs visualizing the history of online transactions pertaining to specific cards. Because Pokémon card value is essentially public knowledge, each of your investments will be a fully informed decision.

My Cards Are Bending By Themselves :
Yeah, this happened to mine too.To combat the problem buy a couple of binders and place them back to back.Since they only bend inwards this prevents them from bending at all. Also since the binder will be closed for most of the time the pressure will not only keep new ones straight but also begin to straighten out ones which were already bent.Id recommend storing all rev holos this way unless using them in a deck, thats what I do and I haven t really had a problem with bending since.
Seriously, though, it’s the humidity. Summertime. More humid. It affects the foil.

The Riachu and Gyrados tins are in stock at target.
True, but theyre fulfilled by ToyWiz and costs like ~$35 each.

True Collectibles Are Guaranteed To Increase In Value
Pokémon cards are collectibles, and many sets went out of print years ago. The inherently limited supply of each card type means that as time goes on and cards become more difficult to obtain, the value will steadily increase.
Because of this, the investment model with Pokémon cards is exceedingly simple: After purchasing a rare card, the longer you hold on to it, the more profit youll make when you decide to sell. Theres virtually no chance of a card thats out of print decreasing in value over time.

Why Cards Are Rising In Value Right Now
Pokémon card sales and prices have skyrocketed this year, with some cards selling for hundreds of thousands of dollars.
On Thursday, a sealed box of Pokémon booster packs sold for a record $360,000 through Heritage Auctions, while a similar set sold for $198,000 only two months ago. According to eBay, there were 60% more Pokemon card sales on its platform in September compared to January of this year.
YouTube stars, celebrities and investors have dropped big bucks on cards, which has contributed to the frenzy and helped push up their value. That, in turn, has encouraged others to snap up cards in hopes that theyll be able to turn a profit.
Theres an entire genre of buyers unboxing card sets on YouTube and Twitch, where DJ and producer Steve Aoki recently hosted a live charity event devoted to opening up packs.
Publicity is always something that can drum up momentum and price, said Eugene Smith, a 24-year-old card collector and investor from Tampa, Florida, who also happens to work in finance.
Controversial YouTuber Logan Paul has spent almost $300,000 , while the rapper Logic dropped $226,000 on a rare 1st edition Charizard.
When I was a kid I absolutely loved Pokémon but couldnt afford the cards, Logic .
People my age are finally in their late-20s, mid-30s, and they can afford the stuff they liked when they were kids, said Jesus Garcia, an assistant comics & comic art operations supervisor at Heritage Auctions.
Why Would I Want To Get My Cards Graded
A small minority of major collectors will actually use the PSA Grading service almost to compete with other collectors to get official grades on their best and rarest cards. When a card gets graded it has its own unique reference number with PSA which can be looked up on their website, there you can find information about how many of that type of card have been graded, general card info, and how many other cards of that kind in the world share the same grade.
Other collectors may simply want to get their most rare and valuable cards graded because not only do PSA give your card a grade they also encapsulate the card to completely protect and preserve it, so not only does it score a certain grade, it will be maintained.
Some people may not be big collectors, and may simply have a couple of cards from their childhood which have sentimental value to them, the grading process is a great way of having your card evaluated and protected and preserved in PSA casing.

Why Pokmon Cards Are So Popular Again
There are a couple of factors to consider when it comes to explaining the skyrocketed values of Pokémon cards. The first is nostalgia. The kids who grew up with these cards are now adults with their own money, so they’re looking to complete their old collections and perhaps even relive some of those magical childhood memories. Nostalgia and sentimentality can be especially high in tough times, and the COVID-19 global pandemic is certainly another reason the cards may have risen in value since last year.
The pandemic has affected pricing in several collecting markets, most notably when it comes to card trading and retro gaming, as prices for older titles, like Nintendo DS games, have soared. This could be explained by the pandemic also. As more people are indoors, they’re getting back into their collections at home, and they’re spending more time shopping online and hunting down rarities.
This, combined with the steady increase in value of Pokémon cards over the last decade, can perhaps help explain why some of these cards are now selling for hundreds of thousands of dollars. For now, that means Pokémon cards have become a hot commodity once again – and only time will tell if this upward trend in values will continue once the pandemic has waned.
Why Pokmon Cards Are Worth Hundreds Of Thousands Of Dollars
Pokémon cards have become very valuable, with some cards selling for hundreds of thousands of dollars. Here’s why Pokémon cards are worth so much now.
The rise of Pokémon cards from the Pokémon Trading Card Game may seem surprising to some, but the value of these items have been steadily increasing for some time now. First appearing in 1996, the Pokémon TCG has grown and expanded with its video game counterparts ever since. Now, Pokémon cards are making headlines for selling for exorbitant sums of money, even reaching hundreds of thousands of dollars.
The value of cards depend on several factors, including rarity and condition. Damaged edges of cards, as well as any markings on them, can all result in lower grades being assigned. Headlines were made recently when a Pokémon card of the company’s president sold for $250,000, and a 1999 first edition holographic Charizard card sold for over $300,000 as well. This has led to a large number of Pokémon card owners shipping their cards off to grading companies.

The Pokémon TCG boom is overwhelming graders, as appraising companies struggle to keep up with the high demand. At stores, cards are either sold out completely or purchases are being severely limited, as more and more people get back into collecting Pokémon cards. So, why are some cards selling for incredible amounts of money?

You Dont Need To Know The Franchise
Serious investors are sometimes put off by the seemingly childish nature of Pokémon cards, and the idea that they would need to delve into the franchise in order to make informed decisions and allocate their assets well.
In fact, neither of these assumptions hold true. Although the franchise was aimed primarily at teenagers, there are plenty of adult enthusiasts and a community of serious collectors, as well as professional Pokémon card players taking part in worldwide tournaments. In any case, investing in valuable Pokémon cards is no different than collecting stamps if anything, the former makes more sense, because Pokémon cards were intended to be collected and traded.
Knowledge of the franchise certainly helps if you want your Pokémon card investments to turn into a hobby. However, its by no means necessary especially because there are plenty of resources online to identify and assess every card.
What Grades Can A Card Get
So you are sending off your card to PSA or another company that works with them to get your cards graded, but what do the scores mean?
PSA operate a ten point grading scale, when a card is sent in to them for evaluation theyll check the cards colouring, corners, edges, centring, authenticity and everything else about it and after that theyll give it a score between 1 and 10, 10 being the best quality card, 1 being the worst quality card. Lets take a look at what those scores mean specifically:-
There are some circumstances that will result in a card not receiving any grade on the above scale, these could be anything from obvious signs of doctoring, trimming or just general non-authenticity.
Ultimately if you are getting cards graded, you will want to be confident of getting good grades, whilst there are greater experts on the subject than myself, personally if I am paying to have a card graded and having it sent off to the states etc, I want to know that its going to grade reasonably well.

How Value Is Determined
The surge in Pokémon card prices doesnt necessarily mean every card is worth a lot of money or will be.
I think prices will rise for some cards, but obviously not all cards, which is what some people dont get, Caitlin Sidhu explained. If cards are still in print, they wont rise in price. Once the card is out of print it may go up in price, but its not guaranteed.
Jason A., a collector from East Tennessee who declined to give his last name, compared it to the stock market: You can take a bet on a cards value. Is it going to increase? Is it going to flop? Or is it just gonna stay steady?
There are plenty of cards out there that when they first got released are still the same price that they were back then, he said.
A cards scarcity, condition and the actual Pokémon on it all play a role in its value. First edition holographic cards released as part of Pokémons first print in 1999 command high prices especially Charizard.
Why is he always so coveted? In that first set, he was objectively the most powerful, with both the highest HP and the strongest attack. But maybe the reason for his appeal is more obvious than that.
I mean, hes a dragon. Kids love dragons, Garcia said. In the cartoon show, he was kind of rebellious, did whatever he wanted.
Kalvin Foley, after losing his eBay bid, said he was able to finally obtain his Rainbow Vmax Charizard in a private sale.
Only 39 were initially released through a Japanese comic contest in 1998.

Moltres & Zapdos & Articuno
The Pokémon TCG: Hidden Fates expansion features the first TAG TEAM trio, and this deck is designed to take advantage of the power of that card. Moltres & Zapdos & Articuno-GX is a powerful card, but it requires a bit of effort to power it up to its full potential. Once you get it there, though, this card can do some major damage to your opponentâs Pokémon.
The first thing to keep in mind is that Moltres & Zapdos & Articuno-GXs attacks require three different types of Energy to use . Viridian Forest and Energy Spinner both let you search your deck for any type of basic Energy, so they will prove invaluable to get the proper Energy into your hand.
To assist Moltres & Zapdos & Articuno-GX, youâll want to get Dragonite out as soon as possible. You can then use Dragoniteâs Hurricane Charge Ability to help attach Water and Lightning Energy to the TAG TEAM trio. After doing this, you just need a Fire Energy and one other Energy of any type to begin using the trioâs Trinity Burn attack, which hits for an impressive 210 damage.
Of course, once youve powered up to use Trinity Burn, you also have enough Energy for the trioâs Sky Legends-GX attack, which hits three of your opponentâs Pokémon for 110 damage and then shuffles the TAG TEAM into your deck, preventing your opponent from getting a 3-Prize Knock Out.
