While theres still no way to naturally catch the Legendary Pokemon in the wild, it seems Articuno may now be in the hands of a player for the first time.
As posted on and Redditand here on VG247 in a news update, a player is claiming to have been directly gifted an Articuno by Pokemon Go developers Niantic.
What isnt clear is if this is a mistake or the result of a glitch or bug that can sometimes cause a Pokemon to change into another Pokemon under certain circumstances or even if this appearance of Articuno at an Ohio gym is just an elaborate fan fake. Well update as we know more.
Tips For Catching Legendaries In Lets Go Pikachu & Eevee
- Its a good idea to save before going into a battle. If you fail to catch one of the Legendary Birds on your first attempt, youll need to wait until youve defeated the Elite Four to try again.
- The catch rate of the Legendary Birds is quite high, so a few Ultra Balls should be plenty. A Master Ball is the easiest way to catch Mewtwo, but is not required. Keep in mind that you can obtain multiple Master Balls.
- All legendary encounters in this game can be shiny, but you wont be able to tell until the battle has begun. Unlike other Pokemon in these games, there is no overworld indication that a Legendary Pokemon is shiny.

How To Get Glaceon And Leafeon In Pokmon Go
The method of changing names may work to obtain Glaceon and Leafeon, but the chances of that happening are very small. If you want to try, change the first name to Rea and the second to Linnea.
The most guaranteed way to have these two monsters is using a special item, called the Lure Model. This item creates an environment in which certain Pokémon can evolve. This is the case, among others, for Eevee, but only for Leafeon and Glaceon.

Which Pokmon Should I Use

General Tips To Catch Legendary Pokmon
When trying to catch Pokémon of Legendary rarity, there are some general tips that you may want to follow. Right now, its best to hang on and hope that Niantic and Nintendo launch some sort of special event that would make these Legendary creatures available for catching. Theres a good chance theyll have some event in store each month, not to mention the chance of new product releases related to the Pokémon franchise. The latter events could very easily be sweetened with some rare character being made available.
Aside from waiting for events, you can also use your Great Balls, Ultra Balls, and Master Balls in order of rarity and power, these are your rarer balls that are capable of catching rarer Pokémon with greater efficacy. Youll definitely want to bring ample supplies at any one of those special events.
Additionally, you may or may not be familiar with the mobile game Ingress, and in case youre not, thats the name of Niantics last big title before Pokémon GO. These Ingress events allowed players to battle it out to gain control of a city, and also let them compete for earning Legendary characters. And since players are divided into three factions, with Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres representing them in these battles, you might get one , two, or three of those birds as a reward. Youll always want to choose Pokémon with high CP, or combat power, for these battles, as well as the aforementioned events.

How To Catch Moltres
Last up is Moltres, the fire bird. This hothead is located in Victory Road to the west of Viridian City specifically the caves leading up to the Elite Four. Victory Road is filled with puzzles and trainers that players must overcome, so they should use their best Pokemon and spend their hard-earned money on plenty of items before venturing into these caves. Just like Articuno and Zapdos, Moltres will be Level 50.
After all three legendary birds have been caught, they can be found flying over most routes in the game, but players will need to fly on the back of a Pokemon to reach them. They are specifically found on Routes 1-4, 6-8, 10-19, and 21-25. To get them, players will need to beat the Elite Four and then have Aerodactyl, Dragonite, or Charizard out of their Poke Ball to ride on. This allows players to soar in the sky to find these birds once more, and even get a chance at chaining for shiny versions of these powerful Pokemon that would make a great addition to any Pokemon team.

Aside from how it’ll definitely have Sky Attack, there’s a few other moves that Moltres can have in Pokemon Go – and these are also the moves you’ll see crop up being used against you when facing a Moltres in a Raid Battle:
- Fire Spin: Moltres’ only fast move, a fire-type
- Fire Blast: a charge fire move with a potential DPS of 22
- Overheat: a charge type fire move with a potential DPS of 24

How To Catch Moltres In Pokmon Go
To catch Moltres in Pokémon Go raid battles, first weaken it with Rock type moves. Moltres has a 4x weakness to Rock although it also has a 2x weakness to Water and Electric if you have a stronger Pokémon that knows moves of these types.
Because of its weakness to Rock, Moltres will be an easier raid than Zapdos. If youve noticed a lot of Rhyhorns appearing in your neck of the woods lately and you happen to have a Sinnoh Stone from the recent Porygon Community Day, it may be worth evolving a Rhyperior to crack Moltres defense.

Articuno is an Ice- and Flying-type Pokémon, making it weakagainst Electric-, Fire-, Rock- and Steel-type attacks. It’s especially weak againstRock-type attacks, but that weakness is risky to exploit because Golem andRhydon are both weak against Ice-type attacks. Try taking a safer approach tothis battle by incorporating the Water-, Fire-, Steel-, and Ice-type Pokémon thatresist Ice-type attacks instead. And remember that Ice-type attacks are supereffective against Dragon-, Flying-, Grass-, and Ground-type Pokémon, so leave Pokémonrepresenting these types at homeespecially the reliable Dragonite.
There are only a few Pokémon that can deal supereffectivedamage to Articuno while resisting its Ice-type attacks. Fire-type Pokémon arereadily available to most Trainers and are fantastic against Articuno, so startthe battle hot by using Flareon, Arcanine, and others of that type. A Scizorthat knows Steel-type attacks will keep your performance sharp and incomingdamage manageable, and Omastar can be the best all-around choice for thisbattlebut only if it knows Rock Throw, a Fast Attack known only by Omastarcaught long ago that can’t be taught via a TM. Magcargo, Kabutops, Lanturn, Magneton,and modern Omastar have fantastic matchups with the Freeze Pokémon, but you mayfind their overall performance drags a little behind some Pokémon with higherstats.

While your first and perhaps only encounter with each of the four legendary Pokémon has to happen in their set locations, it is possible to see the legendary birds in the wild and score two or more of the same legendary bird. This possibility is something you would never see in Pokémon Yellow.

For a chance to see one of the legendary birds in the wild, you need to be riding on a flying Pokémon like Charizard. You also have to have a high catch chain going, so you must catch a lot of Pokémon in a row. A lure, which attracts rare Pokémon, must be active. No matter how many requirements you meet, you still might not ever see a legendary bird in the wild. They have certainly eluded us during the duration of our Lets Go gameplay, but dont let that deter your perseverance.

How To Find Shadow Moltres In Pokemon Go
In order to find Giovanni, players will need to get a Super Rocket Radar. Currently, there are two different methods to obtain one.
- Complete The “The Higher They Fly” Special Research Task: If the player has already completed this, then they have already used this item before.
- Luminous Legends X Event: This event will begin on May 4th. During this event, players will be able to participate in a new Timed Research Task. Upon completing this task, players will be able to obtain a Super Rocker Radar. The task themselves have yet to be announced.
Once the player gets the radar, they can use it to battle Giovanni. Giovanni normally opens up his battles with Persian so make sure to bring along a Fighting-type to quickly bring it down. Shadow Moltres is the final Pokemon he will send it. Players also have the chance to find a Shiny Shadow Moltres since Shiny Moltres has remained in the game. Bring a Rock-type Pokemon with Rock-type moves to quickly take it out. All the player will have to do then is capture it and they have the option to purify it if they want to.

How To Beat Moltres In Pokemon Go
Team Valor’s mascot Moltres is the next Legendary Pokemon to come to Pokemon Go. Players will have from July 31 to August 7 to catch Moltres, a Fire/Flying dual type that should present a unique challenge for trainers in Raid Battles.
Moltres has an entirely different set of strengths and weaknesses than Articuno. While it has a much higher Attack stat than Articuno, its Defense is much lower and it has a critical “double weakness” to Rock-Types that should make Raids go a lot quicker. Because of its lower Defense and the double weakness to Rock, we’re guessing that Pokemon Go players will be able to take down Moltres in groups of 5 or higher.
Most raid battles come down to a combination of having a numbers advantage and having luck on your side. Here’s a couple of tips that could also help you beat Moltres in battle:
