Pokemon Go Community Day: How To Evolve Eevee Into Every One Of Its Evolutions
The shiny Eevees are out in force for Pokemon GOs Eevee Community Day, giving trainers around the world a shot at that elusive prize: a full collection of all 9 Eevee family shinies. But if you want to get Flareon, Jolteon, Vaporeon, Umbreon, Espeon, Leafeon, Sylveon and Eevee, youll need to make use of a couple of tricks to make it happen. Heres how to do that. Ive published some of this info before, but it never hurts to have a refresher.
The simplest way of getting a specific evolution is to just change your Pokemons nickname. Each evolution has a nickname tied to it, and you can use that to guarantee a single evolution. So if youve already used this trick on a given account, it wont work again. So while this will likely be less useful for most, here are those:
- Flareon: Pyro
After that, most of the evolutions have an alternate, more involved method for forcing the evolution. Here are those:
- Flareon, Jolteon, Vaporeon:;These ones are pure RNG, so best of luck.
- Umbreon:;Walk an Eevee 10km as your buddy, then evolve it at night while its still your buddy. Update: this requires no walking distance during community day, just equip as your buddy at night and evolve.
How To Get Espeon And Umbreon In Pokemon Go
For Espeon and Umbreon, the two Gen 2 Eeveelutions, there is a method to obtaining each. Simply add Eevee as your buddy and have it walk with you for 10km. Once that requirement is complete, evolve your Eevee during the day for Espeon and at night for Umbreon. Be careful, however, as sometimes Pokemon Go doesnt reflect night and day like in real life. Check the color of the sky in-game to make sure it is nighttime where you are before evolving.;
What Is The Best Way To Get Umbreon In Pokemon Go
Umbreon Pokemon Go is one of Eevees numerous evolutions, and it may be found in the game. This transformation transforms Eevee into a Pokemon of the Dark-type. Eevee may undergo a variety of various kinds of evolutions based on the method through which the user decides to develop the Pokémon. The following are the steps to get Umbreon in Pokemon Go:
- The first method is very straightforward. Change the name of Eevee to Tamao in order for it to develop into the Dark-type Umbreon.
- The second method of transforming Eevee into Umbreon may also be used to transform Espeon into Umbreon.
- Players who want to catch Umbreon or Espeon will have to walk with Eevee as a friend for 10 kilometers and earn two sweets in the process.
- It is possible for the players to evolve the pokemon during the day, in which case Eevee will evolve into Espeon, and in the night, in which case Eevee will evolve into Umbreon, if the players choose to evolve the pokemon during the day.

What You Need To Know About Eevee In Pokmon Go
Eevee is a Normal-type Pokémon from the first generation. Its resistant to Ghost-type Pokémon, from which it receives only 39% of damage, and its at its strongest when it uses Quick Attack and Last Resort as its moves. However, avoid matching it against Fighting-type Pokémon, like Blaziken and Gallade, since its weak to this Pokémon type.
Eevee doesnt really have the most impressive stats in Pokémon Go. Its max CP is only at 1,210, and its Attack, Defense, and Stamina stats are only at 104, 114, and 146, respectively. That said, Eevee is a good Pokémon to have because of its many different evolution forms, which all boast much higher max CPs and combat stats.
Another great thing about Eevee is that its a common Pokémon in Pokémon GO, and since its a Normal-type, you can find it in almost any location. It isnt as common as Pokémon like Rattata and Zubat, which are practically everywhere, but it shouldnt be too hard to come across and capture one either.
Evolving Vaporeon Jolteon Flareon
Once you have used the naming trick for these three Pokémon, a normal evolutionon Eevee will have an equal random chance of getting Vaporeon,Jolteon, or Flareon.
If you have walked over 10km with Eevee as your buddy, andyou don’t want to get Espeon or Umbreon, make sure that Eevee isn’tyour buddy when evolving it!

How To Evolve Eevee Leafeon And Glaceon
Finally Eevee evolutions got even more confusing in Pokémon GO with the addition of Gen 4s Leafeon and Glaceon. This time youll need an item, or someone around you will need to use one that you can access. To evolve Eevee into Leafeon you need to be within range of a Poké Stop that has an active Mossy Lure on it. You can see this on the map with flying leaves surrounding it. Glaceon requires the Stop to instead have a Glacial Lure on it, which will display with swirling ice. Most players have gotten these for free from various events, but they can also be purchased from the shop for 200 Poké Coins a piece. Once you have one just use it on a Stop and evolve an Eevee while standing nearby.
And thats all Eevee evolutions and how to them them all in Pokémon GO. Sylveon may be added later, so check back for more when Gen 6 hits and after.

Here’s how Eevee evolutions work. If you choose to evolve Eevee without any meddling – by feeding it 25 Eevee candy – then it’ll turn to Vaporeon, Jolteon or Flareon at random.
However, players have discovered a trick that allows you to target any of Sylveon, Leafeon, Glaceon, Espeon, Umbreon, Flareon, Jolteon or Vaporeon by using one of the following Eevee names:
- Rename Eevee as Kira to evolve into fairy-type Sylveon
- Rename Eevee as Linnea to evolve into leaf-type Leafeon
- Rename Eevee as Rea to evolve into ice-type Glaceon
- Rename Eevee as Sakura to evolve into psychic-type Espeon

- Rename Eevee as Rainer to evolve into water-type Vaporeon
- Rename Eevee as Sparky to evolve into lightning-type Jolteon

Important note – the trick only works once per evolution type, so make sure you choose Eevees with the best CP values before you evolve them into the type you want.

Earn Buddy Hearts With Eevee
The standard way to evolve Eevee into Sylveon is simply to earn enough hearts with it while its set as your Buddy Pokemon. Youll earn hearts with Eevee by feeding, playing, and taking snapshots of it. Youll need to earn 70 hearts for it to evolve into Sylveon, howeverso while this process is straightforward, its also a bit time-consuming. Once youve earned 70 hearts, the question mark on Eevees Evolve button will change to a silhouette of Sylveon.

How To Evolve Eevee Into Umbreon In Pokmon Go
Theres a certain process.
Image via Niantic
Eevee has eight different evolutions in Pokémon Go. One of those evolutions is Umbreon, a Dark-type Pokémon. Its a favorite for players who regularly compete in the Great and Ultra Leagues, Pokémon Gos PvP matches. Umbreon is considered one of the stronger choices, so long as it has a good team backing it up. However, because Eevees evolutions vary, evolving an Eevee into an Umbreon can be a little complicated. This guide details how to evolve Eevee into Umbreon in Pokémon Go.
The way you go about evolving Eevee into an Umbreon is to make sure you pick the Eevee you want to evolve and make it your buddy. You can do this by clicking on your avatar profile and selecting your buddy from your available collection. Once youve chosen your Eevee, the next step is to walk 10 km with that Eevee. This step can be a little difficult to accurately track, but Eevee receives a heart for every 2 km you walk with it, which you can receive up to three times a day. You can accurately track it for part of the first day, but you can also use your egg incubators to keep track of it.
After youve walked 10 km with that Eevee, the final step is to evolve it when its night out. It cant only be dark in your area, but when you launch Pokémon Go, the environment around you needs to be dark. If its not, you might miss out on your chance to turn that Eevee into Umbreon, and it could become an Espeon instead.
How To Get Umbreon/evolve Eevee To Umbreon In Pokemon Go
Umbreon is one of the coolest evolutions of Eevee, introduced in the Johto region. It is a dark-type Pokemon, with Pokedex #197. It is known as the Moonlight Pokemon and has a beautiful dark body with rings depicting a full moon. In the core games, Umbreon served as an incredible tank with its high defense and special defense stats. One can easily get an Umbreon by evolving their Eevee at night in them.
However, the method to evolve Eevee into Umbreon in Pokemon Go is a bit different. There are two primary ways through which you can get an Umbreon in Pokemon Go. Both of them involve evolving your Eevee into an Umbreon. There isnt a way to catch a Wild Umbreon yet. You must find an Eevee and evolve it using special measures.
Im sharing both methods below. If you dont have an Umbreon yet, and it is your first time, then the first method will be the simplest and the best for you. But, if you already have an Umbreon in your party and want more, then youll have to use the second method.

All The Eevee Evolutions Are Available In Pokmon Go
Leafeon and Glaceon, however, take their names from trainers in Pokémon Sun and Moon rather than the anime. Youll encounter these two trainers in your quest to earn the Eevium Z Linnea, of course, has Leafeon in her team and Rea has Glaceon.
Finally, Sylveon also takes its nickname Kira from one of the Eevium Z trainers. Though, if youre a Death Note fan, this name will have a different meaning for you
Once you have called your Eevee into one of the above names, you should quit and reload the app to double check the name change has taken place, which is important considering the servers can lean to be on the unreliable side.
Once youve double checked the new name is indeed in place, then evolve the Eevee as you would any other Pokémon by feeding it Candy, and it should take the form of your chosen type.

For the Gen IV mon, Leafeon and Glaceon, youll need to either buy or earn a Glacial Lure Module and a Mossy Lure Module. They can both be bought in the in-game Shop for 200 PokeCoins, but can very rarely be earned via tasks.
Once youve got one in hand, follow these steps:
- Go to a nearby PokeStop and place the Lure down on it: Glacial for Glaceon, and Mossy for Leafeon. They each last for 30 minutes.
- Then, you can simply click on the usual Evolve button on Eevees page and itll transform into whichever one youve picked.

Eevee Nicknames For Evolutions
First, youre going to need to know the Eevee evolution nicknames. To start this journey off right, start with Pokemon number 133, Eevee. This is a Normal type Pokemon thatll appear pretty much anywhere around the world. Not in the middle of the ocean or the desert, mind you but pretty much anywhere else.
The first three Eevee evolutions are Vaporeon, Jolteon, and Flareon. To evolve into each of these Pokemon, youll need only change the name of your Eevee. Change to Rainer for Vaporeon, Sparky for Jolteon, or Pyro for Flareon. This trick will only work ONCE for each of the three first evolutions of Eevee.
The rest are a bit more complicated. Nicknames for the rest of the Eevee evolutions require more than JUST a nickname, but here they are anyway: Espeon is Sakura, Umbreon is Tamao, Leafeon is Linnea, and Glaceon is Rea. Those are, in order, Psychic, Dark, Grass, and Ice types.
How To Get And Use The Glacial Lure & Mossy Lure To Get Glaceon And Leafeon
The final current Eeveelutions available in Pokemon Go are Glaceon and Leafeon, and this duo has the most specific evolution method yet.
First of all, don’t forget that you can do the name trick once again to get Glaceon and Leafeon for the first time. As detailed above, name your Eevee Rea to have it evolve to Glaceon, and name your Eevee Linnea to have it evolve to Leafeon. After that, however, you’ll need to fulfil special requirements to evolve more of these Pokemon.
Specifically, in order to evolve more Eevee into Glaceon or Leafeon, you’ll need some new items: the Glacial Lure and the Mossy Lure. These two new types of Lure Module are available in the shop and will soon be appearing as Field Research Rewards. These lures exist to make you more able to catch different Pokemon – the Glacial lures in Water and Ice type Pokemon, while the Mossy attracts Bug and Grass types.
There’s an added benefit to these, however: when they’re placed, they can impact Eevee Evolution. Simply place one of the lures in a Pokestop; if you place the Mossy Lure you’ll be able to evolve any Eevee you have into Leafeon while standing in that Pokestop’s radius . If you place the Glacial Lure on a Pokestop, that’s when you’ll be able to evolve into Glaceon – just remain within the Pokestop’s radius. This works even if you didn’t place the lure, too, so you can share this chance with other players.

Where To Find & Catch Sylveon In Wild In Pokemon Go
If you are thinking of directly finding and catching a Sylveon by encountering it in the wild in Pokemon Go, I have got some bad news for you. Sylveon is not available in the wild in Pokemon Go. You can only obtain it by evolving your Eevee into a Sylveon. There is no other way to find it in the wild or during raid battles.
Niantic hasnt made it available in that way yet. Hopefully, theyll change this in the future. It will definitely make finding a shiny or perfect IVs Sylevon easier.
