Pokmon Who Are Better In Their Unevolved Stage

What does IV Stand For in Pokémon GO? How Do IVs Work In Pokémon GO?

There are cases in which a Pokémon becomes worse off after evolving. Here are a few Pokémon who should forgo evolution.

One perk of training and raising a Pokémon is the amount of satisfaction its trainer feels when it evolves. In most cases, evolution will not only change a Pokémon’s appearance but also make it significantly stronger overall. An extreme example is how a harmless and unsuspecting Magikarp somehow evolves into a mighty dragon-like serpent, Gyarados.

However, there are also cases in which a Pokémon becomes worse off after evolving. Whether it’s due to a change in appearance, nature, or viability in battle, some unevolved Pokémon know how to shine over their respective evolved form. Here are ten Pokémon who should forgo evolution.

Pokémon Sword and Shield recently received its first downloadable content, the Isle of Armor, prompting many players to return to the Galar region to discover what new mysteries await. The DLC added a whole new area, characters, storyline, and, of course, more;Pokémon.

One of the joys of playing Pokémon is “catching ’em all” and this also means evolving them all too to ensure you fill up your;Pokédex. However, it’s massively disappointing when you excitedly watch your favorite Pokémon evolve, only for it to turn into something worse… check out these;Pokémon who are better left in their pre-evolved forms.

Which Buddy Pokmon Should You Walk

It depends on what you need.

If you need candy, you should continue to walk with Pokémon that you need candy for. If youre low on Larvitar candy and youre trying to power up your Tyranitar, consider walking with it a bit.

Another option is to walk with Pokémon that you want the Best Buddy CP bonus on. Set a good attacker like Chandelure as your buddy and rake in both candy and a power boost once you hit the highest friendship level.

The last option is just to walk with whatever Pokémon you like. If you think Ferroseeds rolling animation is funny, use that. If you cant stand to be apart from your Shiny Bulbasaur, thats fine, too. Live your truth!

How To Check A Pokmon’s Ivs Using An Iv Calculator

An IV Calculator of which there are many can give you an accurate reading of your Pokémon’s IVs, its level, and the power of its skills. It achieves this by looking at your Trainer Level, the Pokémon’s CP , and the amount of Stardust required to power it up.

This provides a rough estimate, which increases in accuracy the higher the level of your Pokémon. You can also combine this with an Appraisal to get a more accurate reading.

IV Calculators, much like cars, come in two different flavours: automatic and manual. Automatics scan a screenshot of your Pokémon and calculate its IVs based on that, while manual requires you to input the information yourself.

The automatic method is not only the fastest but the most foolproof, as getting the IV range in the correct position can be particularly tough. If that’s the method you want to go for, you’ll need to download an app on your mobile. Here are our favourites:

How Do I Take Over A Gym

To take over a gym you have to reduce its prestige to zero by defeating its inhabitants. One Pokémon in there will be the boss, which when defeated will lower the prestige by the greatest amount. Depending on the level you might have to defeat them all more than once.

You dont have to attack a gym alone; multiple people can attack a gym at once and they dont have to all be on the same team either. You also dont have to win all battles to reduce the gyms prestige. You will fight each defending Pokémon in order until either you beat them all, your squad of six Pokémon have all been knocked out, or you run for the hills.

Are CP Or Attacks More Important In "Pokemon Go" Battles ...

Pokemon Go

If youre going to start battling, its not enough to just collect Pokémon. You need to start making them as powerful as you can, and that means evolving and powering them up.

Most Pokémon can evolve from smaller, less powerful forms to larger, more powerful forms. Evolving increases a Pokémons CP, or Combat Points, the chief way you gauge the relative strength and combat effectiveness of a Pokémon. Evolving also increases the potency of their attacks and the Pokémons total HP, or Hit Points. The higher a Pokémons HP, the more damage it can take before being defeated.

Similar to how every Pokémon of the same type you catch may be different in terms of CP and attacks, evolved versions of the same type of Pokémon can also be different than one another. If you evolve ten Pidgeys into ten Pidgeottos, those ten Pidgeottos will have different CP and attacks from each other. And if you evolve those ten Pidgeottos into ten Pidgeots, you again may get very different results.

So the smart way to make your Pokémon stronger and get the most out of your Stardust and Candy, the two resources you need to make your Pokémon stronger, is to evolve first and power up second.

Pokemon Go

Stardust is a resource you earn whenever you capture any Pokémon or hatch an egg. Candy is specific to each type of Pokémon, and the evolved forms of that Pokémon. When you capture a Pidgey, Pidgeotto, or Pidgeot, for example, you receive Pidgey candy.

Here Are Some Tips For Finding Pokmon

Long range

Whenever a Pokémon appears, as long as its on screen, you can tap it to begin the catching process no matter how far away it is from you.

Youll get another shot

Dont give up if a Pokémon flees while youre trying to catch it. It may reappear on the map, so you may get another chance.

Bring all the Pokémon to your yard

Use Incense and Lure modules! Incense is a consumable item you can earn by leveling up or purchase from the Pokémon Go shop. It attracts Pokémon to you, naturally increasing your odds of spotting a rare Pokémon. It also lowers the probability of them fleeing.

Lure modules work in a similar way, but are applied to a PokéStop rather than a player. They attract Pokémon to a specific location for 30 minutes. This benefits all players in the area. So, if you see a PokéStop on your map with pink, confetti-like animation, go there for a better chance of finding Pokémon. Add some incense and youre likely to be swarmed by the little monsters.

Dont forget about events!

Tune in for monthly community days and other Niantic events. These are always broadcast in your Pokémon Go;app and often focus on;Pokémon from a particular region or of a particular type. The community day each month is a great way to get out and catch a specific, usually rare, kind of;Pokémon as well. Keep an eye out for special events to quickly find lots of;Pokémon and jumpstart the path to some evolutions.

How To Find Out Approximate Cp And Iv Values Within Pokmon Go With The Appraisal Feature

Niantic originally released the Appraisal feature in 2016 in an effort to combat third-party apps. While the feature was useful, the information it gave about a Pokémon’s CP and IV value was rather vague. After three years, however, Niantic has revamped the feature, making it much easier to discover which of your Pokémon are the very best.

To get an Appraisal of your Pokémon, tap the menu in the bottom right corner and select Appraisal when viewing, and then your chosen Team Leader will give you the rundown.

The new Appraisal feature is divided into two stages.

In the first stage, your chosen Team Leader will comment on the size of your Pokémon, telling you how small or how bizarrely big your Pokémon is. This information doesn’t factor into the prowess of battle – so feel free to ignore it.

In the second stage, the Team Leader will tell you when or where you caught the Pokémon , but, more importantly, they’ll show you the Pokémon stats – Attack, Defence and HP.

Each stat has a bar that shows you where it ranks out of 15 on the IV scale. To help communicate this information, the stat bars are divided into three different sections:

  • First section – 1 to 5
  • Second section – 6 to 10
  • Third section – 11 to 15

The higher the IV stat, the better the Pokémon’s Attack, Defence or HP will be.

If a stat has an IV ranking of 15 – the maximum possible stat – then the bar will be coloured red. On the other hand, if a stat bar is completely empty, then the IV ranking for that stat is 0.

Cp Explained In Pokemon Go

A Pokemons combat power is an aggregated statistic that gives a rough idea as to how powerful they are. It is based on IV scores and that Pokemons current level.

Generally, a Pokemon with higher CP will perform better in battle than one with a lower stat. There are other factors such as types, moveset, and weather bonuses that alter this paradigm, though. Nonetheless, it is a good way of determining a Pokemons strength at a base level.

This does mean that a Pokemon with a high CP can have terrible IVs and vice-versa. While high CP Pokemon dont need to be leveled up as much they can still be weak.

Conversely, a Pokemon with a low CP can have perfect IV values. As a result, its important to check a Pokemons IV using the appraisal feature Niantic introduced, or with an IV calculator such as PokeGenie if going into more detail.

Collecting Items At Pokstops

Pokémon Go is based on another popular Niantic game called Ingress. Both titles encourage players to explore the world around them, rewarding them with virtual items when they reach real-life landmarks highlighted by the app. In Ingress, these points of interests are called portals; in Pokémon Go, theyre called Pokéstops. Niantic used a small subset of the location data from Ingress as the basis for Pokéstops in Pokémon Go.

Pokéstops are marked on the games map with a floating blue cube. Tapping;them will show more details about the landmark, including a photo. Players can only collect items if they are close enough to the PokéStop . If the app deems youre close enough, swipe the image of the landmark to spin it, and itll spit out three or more items. When you claim items from a PokéStop, the icon turns from blue to purple, but PokéStops refresh about every five minutes so you can return to collect more items.

For players who are just getting started, most of the items available at PokéStops are Pokéballs and the occasional egg. Eggs, when placed in an egg incubator, will hatch into Pokémon after players have traveled a certain distance. All players start with one egg incubator, and an additional one can be purchased with PokéCoins.

Once players start leveling up, the items available to them at Pokéstops get;more special:

  • At level 20, they start getting the even more effective Ultra Balls.

Hold Off On Powering Pokmon

As a general rule of thumb, hold off on powering up your Pokémon before theyre fully evolved, as evolving is a better use of your candies anyway. The vast majority of Pokémon you catch and evolve will never see battle, so save your Stardust for only the Pokémon you actually care about and whose moves youre happy with. You are also more likely to find Pokémon with higher stats as your trainer level rises, so powering them up doesnt add much value in the early stages of the game.

What If I Want A New Buddy

To replace your Buddy, click on the Trainer avatar picture on the main screen, then tap the Pokemon Buddy on the Trainer profile screen. After that, tap the Swap icon on the lower right. You’ll get a message that asks if you’re absolutely sure you want to swap buddies. Tap Yes, if you’re a fair weather friend. But beware; you’ll lose any progress you have made if with your Buddy if you swap too soon! You’ll want to swap Pokemon Buddies out after walking the full distance for a Candy. Also, you should not evolve your Buddy, at least not until after you’re done walking and collecting Candy for it. When you evolve your Pokemon, that creature’s Candy resets. So, to repeat: Do. Not. Evolve. Your. Buddy. Wait until you got enough Candy, then evolve.

How To Get More Premier Balls In Pokmon Go

Pokemon Go IV vs CP

During the capture phase, you’ll be given a number of Premier Balls, which are the only means to catch the creature. The number of Premier Balls you receive depend on a number of factors, but expect between about five and a dozen to play with:

  • Defeating the boss
  • Damage inflicted
  • Gym Control
  • Speed bonus – the faster the raid boss is defeated, the more rewards you receive
  • Raiding with Friends

It’s important to note that if you’re battling in a Mega Raid, the Speed Bonus will reward you with more Mega Energy rather than Premier Balls.

In short, having the Gym on your team and inflicting more damage will see you have a better chance. It’s also worth remembering you can also use Berries during the encounter too, so stockpile those Golden Razz Berries – they may come in handy here for the tier 5 beasts.

If you run out of Premier Balls, the boss will flee.

Originally there was also a ‘Team Contribution’ element to the distribution of Premier Balls, with the Team, Mystic for example, that caused the most damage to the raid boss being rewarded with more Premier Balls. With the introduction of Mega Evolutions, however, this was replaced with the Speed Bonus.

Team Time: Long Live Valor

If you’re just starting out, you may notice gyms that are blue, red, or yellow. And you’ve probably figured out that you can’t do anything with gyms yet! That’s because you need to be at Level 5. Once you are, visit a gym and join one of three teams: Team Mystic , Team Valor , or Team Instinct . Each team has a leader: Blanche for blue, Candela for red, and Spark for yellow. Not only that, each team represents one of the three Legendary Birds: Articuno for blue, Moltres for red, and Zapdos for yellow.

Ivs Change When You Trade

Almost certainly to discourage cheaters, Pokémon traded in Go get a change to their IVs and stats. This prevents players from “selling” 100% IV Pokémon, while the limits on Trading prevent players from constantly “rerolling” for better IVs.

However, the higher your Friendship level, the higher potential IV you can get from a Trade. This, along with the reduced Stardust cost encourages Trading between actual friends.
