Evolving Eevee using the required 25 Eevee candy will produce a random evolution. However, you can control which type it turns into by renaming the monster beforehand:
- Rename “Kira” to evolve into Fairy-type Sylveon
- Rename “Linnea” to evolve into Grass-type Leafeon
- Rename “Rea” to evolve into Ice-type Glaceon
- Rename “Sakura” to evolve into Psychic-type Espeon
- Rename “Tamao” to evolve into Dark-type Umbreon
- Rename “Rainer” to evolve into Water-type Vaporeon
- Rename “Sparky” to evolve into Electric-type Jolteon
- Rename “Pyro” to evolve into Fire-type Flareon
There are some caveats here. This only works one time per evolution, so if you plan to use your Eeveelution in battle, make sure you’ve chosen an Eevee with favourable stats. Umbreon is a Dark-type Pokemon and requires similar conditions as a Sylveon to evolve. Players need to increase their Eevees friendship level to three hearts and evolve it during night time, but trainers need to be careful because if their Eevee knows a Fairy-type move, then it will only Evolve into a Sylveon regardless of night or day. To delete a move, players can visit the NPC at the left counter inside any Pokemon Center in the game.

For Espeon and Umbreon, you do have a method you can count on to get your Eevee to become either this psychic or dark type. Here’s how to do it:
Step 1: Catch an Eevee and make them your buddy.
Step 2: Walk with Eevee as your buddy for 10 km .
Step 3: Wait until it is either day or night in Pokémon Go, not real life, and evolve your Eevee during the correct time.

Earn Buddy Hearts For Eevee
The second way to ensure a Sylveon Eeveelution is to earn Buddy Hearts. Take note that you can do this alongside the Kira trick. You need to reach at least 70 Buddy Hearts on the Eevee. To earn Buddy Hearts, swap the Eevee as your Buddy Pokemon.
Buddy Hearts will stay even if you swap your Buddy Pokemon, so dont worry about losing progress. Getting all those Buddy Hearts to ensure a very high friendship level for Eevee. Once at a high friendship, it should be ready to turn into Sylveon.
At that point, check that its evolution silhouette is Sylveon. Once the silhouette shows Sylveon, theres no chance for it to evolve into an Umbreon or Espeon Sylveon is entirely ensured.
To complete the evolution, feed your high friendship Eevee that 25 Eevee candy, and await your Sylveon! Hopefully, by then it will gain a Fairy-type attack.

However, as the years have gone by and more games have come out, more evolutions for the popular Eevee have been released, bringing the grand total of possible evolutions up to seven, more than any other Pokémon.

Finally Eevee evolutions got even more confusing in Pokémon GO with the addition of Gen 4s Leafeon and Glaceon. This time youll need an item, or someone around you will need to use one that you can access. To evolve Eevee into Leafeon you need to be within range of a Poké Stop that has an active Mossy Lure on it. You can see this on the map with flying leaves surrounding it. Glaceon requires the Stop to instead have a Glacial Lure on it, which will display with swirling ice. Most players have gotten these for free from various events, but they can also be purchased from the shop for 200 Poké Coins a piece. Once you have one just use it on a Stop and evolve an Eevee while standing nearby.

The first three evolutions Vaporeon, Jolteon, and Flareon were all released alongside Eevee in the original Gen I’s Red and Blue titles. These were all easily acquired by using one of the three evolutionary stones on your Eevee: a Water Stone for Vaporeon, a Thunder Stone for Jolteon, or a Fire Stone for Flareon.
