- If a type is not listed, damage is neutral
- The strength of an attack is increased if the attack type is strong against both types of a dual type Pokémon
- Type resistance and vulnerability effectively cancel each other out on dual type Pokémon
|Pokémon Type Chart|
Bug, Dark, , Fighting
Note that attack and defence type relationships are not identical e.g. types may be resistant to types when defending that they are not super effective against when attacking.
Remember, things get even more interesting when Pokémon of dual types crop up and you have to factor in additional strengths and weaknesses.
Can A Normal Pokemon Be Poisoned By A Steel Pokemon
Steel-type Pokémon cannot be poisoned, except by a Pokémon with Corrosion . In Generation II, the Steel type was created to balance out the previously overpowered Normal and Psychic types, as both types are resisted by Steel. Although the number of Steels resistances decreased from 12 to 11 in Generation VI, Steel remains the most resistant type.
Pokmon Strength And Weakness Chart
The chart below will let you know which attacks to use and which to avoid based on Pokémon type.
For instance, a bug-type Pokémons bug attacks are super effective against grass-, dark-, and psychic-type Pokémon. However, bug-types take increased damage from any fire-, flying-, or rock-type moves.

What Type Of Pokemon Is Good Against Psychic Pokemon And Why
Ghost Type Pokemon
In the past, Ghost Type Pokemon didnt have much of an effect on Psychic Type Pokemon but then they were changed to be super effective against them.
All of the Ghost moves are super effective against the Psychic Pokemon.
In earlier generations, if you paired Ghost Type Pokemon with the Dark Type, they made an invincible combination.
Specifically in Ghost Type Pokemon, this is very good against psychics:
Gengar is actually a dual type pokemon, it is a mix of the ghost type and the poison type. It can also evolve into Mega Gengar if you use the Gengarite.
These are very useful against psychic type pokemon because they have attacks that counter the type.
If you want to win against a psychic type, just pull out a Gengar and youre good to go.
Giratina is another pokemon exceptionally good against the psychic type. It is a dual type pokemon and is a mix of the ghost and dragon type.
It doesnt evolve to another pokemon but it has a second form which is activated by giving it a Griseous Orb.
Another way for it to evolve is when it is in its home, the Distortion World.
It is very good against Psychic Pokemon and is a formidable foe!
Dark Type Pokemon
As I mentioned above, these are amazing against all psychic pokemon. Because of the inability of a psychic pokemon to attack them, these work exceptionally well against them.
Steel Type Pokemon
All Psychic Type Pokemon dread the Steel Type.
It’s A Bird It’s A Plane No Wait It’s Both Skarmory
Flying Pokémon can be rather useful in their own right but there is something extra special about a flying-type covered in steel plating.
Skarmory is one of only three Steel/Flying-types, giving it a nice set of resistances . Its defense stat is much higher than the rest of its 480 total, making it a tankier addition to your team. Its uniqueness alone affords it a spot on this list.

Steel Type Pokemon
He was introduced to the second generation, with the dark type. It was introduced to balance the Psychic type and the Normal type, as both types were fantastically offensive, but the Steel type was created for the Pokémon defense.
This was also done because of its many resistances since the pure steel types had 10 resistors and the steel / electric types had 11 resistances as well as a poison type immunity for both clashes.
Steel-type Pokémon are distinguished by a great defense against physical and special attacks and great resistance. They tend to be heavy and therefore slow.
The types of steel generally consist of mechanical constructions , while others are biological organisms with a metal reinforcement. With the types of rocks and earth, steel is a part of the Earth’s minerals.
Famous steel-type Pokémon coaches include Jasmine, Johto’s sixth head of gymnasium Steven Stone, Hoenn Champion Byron, Sinnoh’s sixth gymnasium chief and Wikstrom, a member of the Kalos Pokémon League.
In addition, Colress, who is part of the new Plasma team, and Molayne, a former test captain for Ula’ula Island in Alola, are also using this type of Pokémon.

Empoleon, the final evolution of the adorable Piplup, has tough competition against Infernape and Torterra. However, all three are pretty on par in excellence , meaning Empoleon is just an incredible Pokémon.
This part water-type may get a shocking every now and then, but its solid priority moves and imposing appearance make it more than just another penguin. As the only starter that’s part-steel, Empoleon stands out from all of the fire/fighting types for being an original soul. Plus, if you just need a friend to support through hard times, Empoleon has all the utility needed.

Duraludon is the definition of a Pokémon with a million options. Need a trap-setter that has incredible defensive typing? Duraludon can do that. Need a high-power special attacker with cool glasses that can erase an entire team of Pokémon? Duraludon can do that too. There are certainly other ways to play, and Duraludon can do it.

Duraludon is especially refreshing as other single-stage dragon-types don’t often get the kind of love and recognition, rotting away and forgotten. Once Duraludon goes Gigantamax and becomes an entire building, it’ll never be forgotten. Duraludon is a fantastic steel addition to the roster.

No Concept Of Immunities/no Effect
Every attack in Pokémon GO damages an opposing monster in the mainline games, a small number of type matchups actually result in no damage i.e. immunity, usually with the message X has no effect. These matchups are:
- Normal and Fighting immune to Ghost
- Flying immune to Ground
- Ghost immune to Normal and Fighting
- Fairy immune to Dragon
These special cases still exist in Pokémon GO, however, they do around a third normal damagerather than doing no damage at all. In our type chart, these type immunities are bolded and placed in square brackets. REMEMBER – in the mainline games like Pokémon Sword and Shield, these attacks will have no effect whatsoever!

Fighting Type Pokemon Strength And Weakness Chart
Fighting Type Pokemon
Pokémon of this type are specialists in melee attacks, such as punching and kicking. It could be said that they are the opposite of the Psycho-type Pokémon because, although such Pokémon depends mainly on special attacks, the Combat-type Pokémon depends mainly on physical attacks. In particular, each combat type attack launched before the fourth generation remained a physical attack, special combat attacks being introduced only from the fourth generation.
Most Combat-type Pokémon have a human-like body shape because they represent practitioners of various martial arts, who tend to be real-world humans. Some Combat type Pokémon are represented by the appearance of fighters , while others are represented according to some type of fighting style . They can also be represented simply with incredible strength .
Fighting Pokémon has many ways to evolve, as it represents a fighter who embarks on a journey to become stronger and discover who he should be.
Each generation has set up at least one type of combat specialist: Bruno, second member of Kanto and Johto Elite Four Chuck, the fifth gymnasium head in the Johto region Brawly, the second leader of the Hoenn Gym Maylene, the third leader of the Sinnoh Gymnasium The marshal, member of the Unova Elite Four Korrina, third gymnasium head in the Kalos region and Hala, Melemele Kahuna Island in the Alola region.
Logical Reasons For Steel
Steel-type Pokémon have three weaknesses, ten resistances, and one immunity.
- Ground: Earthquakes destroy buildings.
- Fire: Extreme heat makes metal malleable.
- Fighting: Think of any superhero, like Captain Marvel or Superman, and how they constantly break buildings during fights.
- Rock: Rocks will break on steel.
- Grass: Plants can’t root themselves in steel.
- Flying: Birds can’t fly through steel structures.

How To Remember Every Pokmon Type Weakness & Resistance
Remembering every Pokémon type resistance and weakness is one of the hardest parts of playing Pokémon, and there are 16 different types of Pokémon.
Remembering every Pokémon type resistance and weakness is one of the most difficult parts of playing Pokémon games. There are 16 different types of Pokémon, and because many of them are dual types, it’s difficult to pin down what’s effective or not in the middle of a battle. However, there are effective tricks that can help everyone remember what their – and their opponent’s – Pokémon are weak and resistant to.
With the exception of Pokémon Yellow, Let’s Go Pikachu, and Let’s Go Eevee, every game in the main series begins with players choosing a Fire, Water, or Grass-type starter Pokémon. Like rock-paper-scissors, these three Pokémon types are all either weak or resistant to one another. From that point on, Pokémon typings become increasingly difficult to memorize.
Related: Will Pokémon Legends: Arceus Have Gym Leaders?
A great way to remember every Pokémon type weakness and resistance is to treat the type as if it existed in the real world. For example, wildfires destroy forests, plants, and other sorts of vegetation, and Grass-type Pokémon have a weakness to Fire-type moves. Plants absorb water to grow, and Grass-type Pokémon have resistance to Water-type moves.
How Many Pokemon Types Are There
Throughout all of the Pokemon series, as you can see above, there are a total of 18 types of Pokemon. As also shown above, different mon have strengths and weaknesses against various types.
Fire-types are a good example of this, whereby they are effective against bug, grass, ice, and steel-types but weak against ground, rock, and water.

Logical Reasons For Poison
Poison-type Pokémonhave two weaknesses and five resistances.
- Ground: Soil absorbs toxins.
- Psychic: Doctors, pharmacists, and others with a certified understanding of toxins can create antidotes to neutralize the poison.
- Grass: Toxins can destroy plants.
- Fighting: Strong animals can’t beat toxins alone.
- Poison: Uncontrolled toxins can’t neutralize other uncontrolled toxins.
- Fairy: Toxins harm organic life, and it’s safe to say that fairies would be organic lifeforms.
Pokmon Go Types Strengths And Weakness
Pokémon also has its own set of weaknesses and strengths. For example, bug-type Pokémon are weak against fire-, flying-, and rock-type moves. Bug-type moves are strong against dark-, grass-, and psychic-type moves. Fire-, flying-, and rock-type moves will do double damage against a bug-type, like Caterpie.
Some Pokémon have two types, which means they can have a doubled weakness or have their strength and weaknesses cancel out to just take normal damage. Rayquaza, a dragon- and flying-type, takes four times the damage from ice-type moves. On the flip side, Shuckle, a rock- and bug-type, takes normal damage from fire-type moves, since rock-type is strong against fire-type.
Strengths and weaknesses also arent necessarily just opposites of each other. Though fire-type move deal less damage to water-type Pokémon and water-type moves do doubled damage against fire-type Pokémon, this isnt the case with every type. For example, fighting-type moves are strong against normal-types, but normal-types just do regular damage against fighting-types, rather than do reduced damage.
Knowing what Pokémons strengths and weaknesses are is an important aspect of raiding and battling. To do the most damage you can, you should make sure that your Pokémons moves are strong against what its battling.
Memorizing all of that can get confusing, so heres a chart to help you out.

- Not Very Effective: The types of Pokémon the attack type will do half damage against
