Celebi Quest Stage 4/8
- Evolve Eevee into Espeon during the day
- Walk 10km with Eevee as your buddy to earn candy
- Send 20 gifts to friends
Rewards – 1 Metal Coat, Eevee encounter, 2500 stardust
So no, this definitely isnt as fast as the Mew quest and you are going to have to get your shoes on again. Its a good thing you just got an Eevee at the end of the last quest, eh? Set this Eevee – or any other Eevee – as your buddy Pokemon and get walking.
You have to earn two candy with that buddy Eevee and walk the full 10km to tick off one of the requirements. This will also guarantee your Espeon when you evolve the during the day. Keep your Eevee as your buddy while evolving, make sure it is not night time in the game and you will get the right Eeveelution.
Note that if you have done the naming trick once to guarantee your evolution, this is not guaranteed to work again so do the walk and earn the candies to make sure it recognises the quest.
Friends wise, if youre having problems finding people, head to Twitter for new friends and then get spinning Poke Stops for gifts. Youll probably have sent 20 or so by the time you have walked your 10km with Eevee on your shoulder anyway.
Celebi Quest Stage 6/8
- Visit PokeStops 7 days in a row
- Use 25 Pinap Berries while catching Pokemon
- Use items to evolve Pokemon 2 times
Rewards – 5 Silver Pinap Berries, 1 Dragon Scale, 3500 stardust
After all that walking, stage 6 seems positively relaxing. Youre on this stage for a week anyway so keeping on top of Pinap Berries shouldnt be too tricky and, if you arent sure of which Pokemon can be evolved with items, check out our Pokemon Go evolution items guide. Between a combination of the Upgrade for Porygon at the end of the previous quest and the seven day Poke Stop streak, you should enough items to complete the task. If you still have any spare Sunkerns, the upgrade to Sunflora could be exactly what you need here without the 100 candy demands of other item evolutions.

Pokemon Go Celebi Special Research Quest: How To Unlock The Quest And How It Works
As mentioned above, catching yourself a Celebi in Pokemon Go requires you to tackle the ‘A Ripple in Time’ special research event quest, but access to that quest isn’t there from the word go. Instead, you’ll have to first get to a certain point in the Special Research quest for Mew, ‘A Mythical Discovery’.
Mew’s quest will be available right from when Special Research Missions first open up, and you’ll need to advance the Mew quest line to its fourth stage before the Celebi quests unlock. If you’re already at that stage or further, the Celebi A Ripple in Time quest line will be ready to go for you.
Unlike Field Research quests, the quest steps for Pokemon Go’s Celebi missions are fixed the same for every player – there’s no element of random chance here, instead eight different quest phases, each with three missions and associated rewards. Completing one phase will open up the next, and completing all eight stages will then give you the chance to catch Celebi and a bunch of candy for the mythical creature.
Here’s the quest steps for the Pokemon Go Celebi Quest ‘A Ripple in Time’, complete with objectives and rewards. Remember, you’ll need to complete all three missions on any given phase of the missions in order to then unlock the next set.

How Celebi Got To Pokmon Go
Celebis arrival at Pokémon Go proceeded similarly to what happened to Mew in the first half of 2018, becoming available as a Special Research mission.
Although Field Research missions offer objectives that can be accomplished by players at any time, Special Research missions have a narrative with specific steps.
Celebis arrival in the game was scheduled as part of the second Special Research mission, with the mythical creature being offered to players as a reward.
However, those who attended the Pokemon Go Fest in Chicago during July were able to complete this event sooner. In-depth research on revealed a Special Research for those who attended the event, which included the following details:
- A total of five steps to complete
- Challenges to hatch an Egg, get Buddy Candy and visit PokéStops
- Capture Unown, Plusle and Minun
- Text of the story that hints at Celebis time travel skills
Apparently, the mission appeared for players who registered for the event . Apparently, the mission started immediately after this step was taken.
Celebi Research Step 5 Of 8
- Walk 10 km with Eevee as your buddy
- Evolve Eevee into Umbreon at night
- Trade a Pokémon
Rewards: 1 Star Piece, 15 Pinap Berries, 1 Up-grade
Similarly to Espeon, you can rename your Eevee to Tamao to get a guaranteed Umbreon once. If youve already done this, you will have to walk the 10 km with your buddy Eevee and then select to evolve it at night to score your Umbreon. Just like Espeon, make sure to evolve the Eevee when its still set as your buddy, or you wont get the Umbreon.

Celebi Quest Stage 3/8
- Hatch 9 eggs
Rewards – 1 Kings Rock, Eevee encounter, 1 Premium Raid Pass
Oooh, what could that Sun Stone reward from the previous task be for? Well the good news is that you already have one of the Pokemon Go special items, now all you need is either 100 Oddish candy to evolve Gloom, or, more likely after the Johto event, 50 Sunkern candy. If you dont have enough candy, its time to walk but, dependent on how much candy you have of each one, youll have to take the below into account.
Ironically, if you have already evolved Gloom into Bellossom, and then set Bellossom as your buddy, youll only have to walk 1km to earn 1 Oddish candy. Sunkern on the other hand is a 3km buddy. Youll just have to work out who will take you the shortest time and distance. Youll need to walk off those 9 eggs anyway so its time to get stretching those legs.

How To Catch Celebi In Pokmon Go
Before we get started, let’s take a look at how catching Celebi works. Just like with catching Mew, you have to complete a Special Research Quest. This is a series of eight objectives you have to beat to get a chance at catching Celebi, and you’ll earn rewards by completing each step along the way.
These differ from Field Research Quests in that they’re fixed, and you have to complete them in a specific order. That does mean that you can plan ahead though, and prepare what you might need to whiz through objectives you unlock later.
The one area that A Ripple In Time differs from A Mythical Discovery though, is that there’s an unlock requirement. You first have to reach the third objective of A Mythical Discovery, the Special Research Task you have to beat to unlock Mew.
We’ll now run through every single stage in A Ripple In Time to help you plan ahead.
How Celebi Event A Ripple In Time Works In Pokmon Go
To get started, you need to have completed the third group of tasks for MewsA Mythical Discovery. Like Mew, theres no time limit to completing the quest line so take your time!
Celebi is also has also recieved its shiny form in Pokémon Go. This form first came available during the December 2020 Secrets of the Jungle event and, if you played Pokémon Go during this event, youd unlocked the Distracted by Something Shiny special research quest. Completing this questline would result in you catching shiny Celebi!
The quest is broken down into eight stages, with multiple challenges to complete per stage. By completing every step of the Special Research quest, the Mythical creature will be given to players as a reward.
Though these are similar to Field Research quests, the specific steps are fixed for every player so if you dont mind spoilers, you can plan ahead and learn what you need to do to complete them all catch Celebi which is useful as youll need to undertake Raid and Gym battles along the way.
If you already caught Celebi by taking part in Chicagos Go Fest, then completing the many tasks will earn you Candy to help power Celebi up.
