It was revealed in a Developer Insight video that any Pokémon capable of Mega Evolution in the core games will also be able to Mega Evolve in Pokémon Go, including the very first starter Pokémon you chose. You can collect this mysterious substance by completing Mega Raids, which are Raid Battles that feature Mega-Evolved Pokémon. It seems the faster you defeat a Raid Boss, the more Mega Energy youll receive for that Pokémon. You can Mega Evolve any of your Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise, and Beedrill once you have enough of their corresponding Mega Energy! Some of these Pokémon are appearing in Mega Raids too. After youve Mega Evolved a Pokémon, the Mega Energy required to Mega Evolve that specific Pokémon will decrease from then onward. Please note that Shadow and Clone Pokémon cannot be Mega Evolved.

Right now, four Pokemon can Mega Evolve into five unique Mega Evolutions. Sound confusing? That’s because Charizard has two Mega Evolutions, Mega Charizard X and Mega Charizard Y. Blastoise and Venusaur are two of the others, and all of the Kanto starter Mega Evolutions can be obtained through Mega Raids.

The other Pokemon that can Mega Evolve right now is Beedrill, which isn’t found in raids. Instead, you have to complete the aforementioned Pokemon Go A Mega Discovery special research, which will give you enough Mega Energy to Mega Evolve Beedrill twice. According to Kelven91 on Twitter, Pidgeot has also been found in the game files, leading us to believe we’ll see it in the game soon.

There are loads more Pokemon capable of Mega Evolving in Pokemon lore, but for the time being, these are the only ones in the game. Expect legendary beasts like Mewtwo, Groudon, Rayquaza, and Latias later down the line, along with others like Kangaskhan, Pinsir, Gengar, Blaziken… there are a lot.

Make certain Pokemon stronger for a limited time.

After being teased on social media, the Mega Evolution feature has officially gone live in Pokemon Go, giving you the ability to temporarily make certain Pokemon stronger by Mega Evolving them.

At launch, only four Pokemon are capable of Mega Evolution: Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise, and Beedrill .

Before you can Mega Evolve one of these Pokemon, youll need to collect a new resource called Mega Energy. Similar to Pokemon Candy, Mega Energy is specific to each Pokemon species.

You can collect Mega Energy by completing Mega Raids. As you might have guessed, Mega Raids are Raids against Mega-Evolved Pokemon. The faster you defeat one of these Pokemon in a Raid, the more Mega Energy youll receive for that Pokemon species.

Once you have enough Mega Energy for a Pokemon, you can Mega Evolve it. A Pokemon will only remain Mega Evolved for four hours. During that time, you can use the Mega-Evolved Pokemon to complete Raids, battle against Team Go Rocket, battle in Gyms, and compete against your friends in Trainer battles.

When a Mega-Evolved Pokemon participates in a Raid, an attack boost will be given to every other Pokemon in the Raid. Plus, in a news post, Niantic, the games developer, said, Pokémon whose attack types are the same type as any of the Mega-Evolved Pokémons types will receive an additional attack boost for those attacks.

How Long Do Mega Evolutions Last In Pokmon Go

It’s not forever, but it’s enough.

Mega Evolutions are now in Pokémon Go, but this new feature is only available for Mega Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise, and Beedrill. To Mega Evolve, trainers will have to gather Mega Energy, which works similarly to Candy.

The first time these Pokémon Mega Evolve, the player will have to gather a high number of Mega Energy. Beedrill asks for 100 Mega Energy, while Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise require 200.

The Mega Evolution will only last for four hours, however. But after the first Mega Evolution, the cost falls to 25 Mega Energy for Beedrill and 50 Mega Energy for the Kanto starters.

Trainers can get between 30 and 50 Mega Energy when battling in Mega Raids, so itll take from four to seven Raids to achieve the first Mega Evolution of a Pokémon.

For further Mega Evolutions, trainers will have to win one or two Mega Raids. Remember, the faster you finish the battle, the more Mega Energy you receive.

Some events can boost how long Mega Evolutions last, but four hours should be enough to do everything you can with Mega Evolved Pokémon. They cant be left to defend gyms or compete in the Go Battle League.

Pokemon Go: How To Catch Shiny Lotad

Right at the beginning of the month, Shiny Lotad was added into Pokemon Go and its spawn rate was drastically increased. This means that players will have more chances to track the Pokemon down out in the wild. Players will be able to tell the difference between the standard and shiny versions of the Pokemon by Shiny Lotads distinct coloring. Rather than the typical blue and green coloring, Shiny Lotad instead has a dark red body and a turquoise lily pad.; This will make the Pokemon easier to spot among the other Lotads.

In order to track one down, players will need to be very persistent. Lotads do spawn more often during this event, but that doesnt mean that it will be easy. A way to boost the chances of running into one though is to go outside when it is raining. As a Water/Grass type Lotad will appear more often during rainy weather. This makes it a lot easier for players to grind through normal Lotads and find a shiny. Players can also search for Lotads during raid battles. Raids grant a higher chance of a Pokemon being shiny, so if players see one in a raid battle they can potentially snag one without having to grind through dozens of different standard versions first.

Which Mega Evolutions Are Currently Available In Pokmon Go

While a number of Mega Evolutions have released in Pokémon Go, they are not all available at the same time. This means that, if you wish to complete your Mega Pokédex, you need to keep a close eye on exactly which Mega Pokémon are currently appearing in Mega Raids. If not, you risk having to wait for their reappearance.

Throughout the Season of Discovery, there will only be one Mega Evolution available in Mega Raids at one specific time. This makes it the perfect opportunity to focus on gathering candy for that evolution and adding new entries to your Mega Pokédex.

How To Get Clone Pikachu Venusaur Charizard And Blastoise In Pokmon Go Explained

Clone Pokémon will be available in Pokémon Go between Tuesday 25th February to Monday 2nd March, with a start and finish time of 9pm and 1pm .

The Mega Evolution will be a temporary transformation of the Pokemons, and a field called Mega Time found in the mined data confirms the same. A time limit will be imposed upon Mega evolution, and will be displayed for the players to see.

Also, each Pokemon will have their own Mega Energy, and it is expected to be synced with the Mega Evolution timer. Once the Mega Energy is exhausted, the Pokemons will return to their normal form. The amount of Mega Energy required will reduce if you are best buddies with your Pokemon. You will also get Mega Energy from Mega Raids, and once you reach the maximum amount of Mega Energy you can collect, the rewards you receive will be reduced.
