Time to get all those precious stones.

There are dozens of Pokémonthat evolve through the use of special stones, but collecting those stones is sometimes a big chore since you cant normally buy them all in a Poké Mart.

But Sword and Shield have left many of those precious stones just sitting in the Wild Area, ready to be collected by players who are willing to explore the entire thing and come back from time to time.

All 10 of the main stones are available in one spot and they actually respawn after 24 hours just like most of the Strong Spawn overworld Pokémondothough they wont all appear at the same time. That single location is a group of rock pillars in the Lake of Outrage, so youll have to have the Rotom Bike surfing upgrade to get there.

But thats just one place you can find them when there are plenty of other spots available much earlier in the game. So dont worry, you wont need to wait until the sixth gym to evolve your Growlithe or Helioptile.

Here are the known locations where you can find the evolutionary stones in Sword and Shield.

The Electric Tale Of Pikachu

The focus of the chapter To Evolve or Not to Evolve, That Is the Question! was Evolution stones. Misty hoped to buy a Water Stone for her Poliwhirl in Stone Town, a town on Dream Island where all the Evolution stones in the Pokémon world come from. However, she couldn’t afford one, remarking that an inexpensive one might make the evolution go bad.

Misty was later given a Water Stone by Mikey, who was being pressured to join the “Knights of the E Stone“, a club which requires members to own a Pokémon evolved by an Evolution stone.

Pokmon Super Mystery Dungeon

Throughout the storyline, the player character and their partner directly evolve to and devolve from their final forms three times, thanks to their Harmony Scarves.

The player can evolve Pokémon in the Tree of Life after beating the game, by talking to Xerneas. Although the only requirement of evolving is to achieve a certain level, some connected Pokémon are unevolvable.

Where To Catch Poliwag Poliwhirl And Poliwrath

Water Stone Location In Pokemon Sword & Shield (Early Game)

In Sword & Shield, Poliwhirl cannot be found naturally in the wild. Players will have to catch a Poliwag and evolve it, and luckily Poliwag are catch-able at the Brawlers’ Cave. They can easily be found as well because they are overworld spawns. Once caught, just level up the Poliwag to level 25 and it will evolve into a Poliwhirl and a Water Stone can be used to turn it into a Poliwrath.

To catch a Poliwrath without a stone, the player will need the Isle of Armor DLC and explore Brawlers’ Cave. Other than that, it can be found in certain Max Raid Battles.

Where To Catch Eevee And Vaporeon

For Eevee fans or just those who want to complete the Pokedex, they may want to catch as many as seven versions of the Pokemon to get every evolution. Eevees in Sword & Shield can be captured at Route 4. However, their spawn rates are not that high so it may take some patience to catch one, let alone seven. On the bright side, Eevee is not weather locked and be caught day or night.

Vaporeon can sometimes appear outside of the grass during rainy weather at the Lake of Outrage.

Water Stone Location 2

In the Lake of Outrage, you’ll get daily drops of different evolution stones. Pick up the shiny sparks to get a random evolution stone.

Pick Up Shining Spots Below Large Rocks

A random evolution stone can be picked up in every shiny spot below large rocks in Lake of Outrage. Check these daily to get the evolution stone you’re searching for.

Water Stone Pokemon Sword And Shield Location Guide

Water Stone Location In Pokemon Sword & Shield (Early Game ...

So you’re wanting to pick up a Water Stone in Pokemon Sword and Shield? Well, we reckon they’re pretty useful, no matter what you’re trying to evolve. You can use a Water Stone on the following Pokemon to ensure that they grow up big and strong:

  • Lotad
  • Eevee
  • Shellder

However, knowing which Pokemon need this elemental stone and actually acquiring one are two different things. If you’re already familiar with acquiring other evolution stones like the Moon Stone, then the process here won’t actually be all that different for you. There are multiple places that you can get a Leaf Stone, and prime of them is probably to head to Bridge Field. If you cross the bridge by Motostoke and look out for a raid hole at the intersection of a hill and a wall, you’ll see a Pokeball just to the left of it – this will contain a Water Stone.

It’s also possible to hit up the Digging Duo in the same part of the Wild Area – you pay these people in Watts and they basically dig up items for you. It’s all entirely random, but you have a chance of getting your hands on evolutionary stones, including the Water Stone. Last but not least, you can also head over to the Lake of Outrage once your Rotom Bike can walk on water you’ll be able to find a weird looking Stonehenge thing. Every rock in this formation will have some kind of evolutionary stone under it, and you could pick up a Water Stone eventually as these will respawn to give you more than one go.
