Pocket Monsters: The Origins
Tajiri, a video game designer and co-founder of Game Freak Magazine, created Pokémon around 1990, after conceptualizing a two-person battle with insects through the Game Boy Link Cable. As a child, Tajiri collected insects, a popular hobby in Japan. Pokémon, as you may know, is a portmanteau of the phrase Pocket Monsters. Originally the name was Capsule Monsters, but that had to be changed because of a trademark issue. Due to this, Nintendo rejected the 1st proposal by Tajiri. After the change to Pocket Monsters, the idea was again pitched to Nintendo, except it was by Shigeru Miyamoto. Miyamoto is the genius behind Super Mario & Zelda. With his help, Nintendo approved Tajiris concept, even though they didnt fully understand it, and subsequently gave funding for the project.
Original Pokémon Artist, Ken Sugimori, joined the Game Freak team as an illustrator after checking out the magazine in 1981. Sugimori, along with Atsuko Nishida, Motofumi Fujiwara and Shigeki Morimoto designed all 151 original Pokémon characters.
Atsuko Nishida was the original Pikachu designer. She was tasked with designing 24 of the Generation 1 Pokémon, including Bulbasaur, Charmander, Charmeleon & Charizard.
What Is Pokemon Generation 1
Gen 1 Generation One was the original run of Twitch Plays Pokemon. Started on February 12, 2014 by an anonymous Australian programmer, this was the first iteration of TPP , originally designed as a social experiment.
Specifically, Pokémon Red and Green were the first installments of the game series, released in Japan back in 1996. Today, the Pokémon video game series is one of the most popular and most successful video game franchises in history.
Forge A Path To Greatness
The eighth generation of Pokémon was announced with the reveal of Pokémon Sword and Shield on February 27, 2019. These games were released internationally on November 15, 2019. Fewer Pokémon were revealed prior to the game’s release compared to other generations to increase anticipation. These games introduced the Dynamaxing and Gigantamaxing features, while abandoning the Mega Evolution and Z-Move features introduced in previous generations. The games became the fastest selling Nintendo Switch games, beating out Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and selling 6 million copies worldwide.
Instead of releasing a separate “third version” or sequel to Sword and Shield, a pair of DLCs, The Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra, were introduced in its place, featuring all-new areas, returning Pokémon, and new Legendaries.
The anime was quick to follow with a new series, Pokémon Journeys: The Series, which took place in all of the regions from Kanto to Galar. It features two protagonists, Ash Ketchum and Goh, along with their partner Pikachu and Scorbunny. However, the COVID-19 pandemic caused the series to go on its first extensive hiatus in over 20 years.

How Long Has The Pokemon Series Been Around
Pokémon has almost been around for 25 years and the franchise has come a long way since the first generation. Ever since fans first got their hands on the many adaptations, they have been loyal and dedicated to the franchise. A lot of them know just about everything there is to know about Pokémon.

Back To Kanto And Onward To The Battle Frontier
On January 29, 2004, two new games were released in Japan: Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen. They arrived in North America on September 9, 2004, and were remakes of Pokémon Red and Green which brought the games up to Generation III standards, as well as adding wireless connectivity and a new region the Sevii Islands. These games also gave the event PokémonDeoxystwo additional forms, which could only be obtained by moving Deoxys to a FireRed or LeafGreen cartridge.
Not yet finished with the Hoenn story, Game Freak developed a third version to complement Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, Pokémon Emerald. This game was released in Japan on September 16, 2004, and in North America on May 1, 2005. Emerald featured the same wireless connectivity as FireRed and LeafGreen, as well as an updated version of Hoenn with many new features, including the Hoenn Battle Frontier, the ability to re-battle Gym Leaders, an altered plot, and animations for all Pokémon, as in Crystal.
The animecaught up with both the Generation I remakes and Emerald by having the group travel back to Kanto and face the Kanto Battle Frontier there. During this season’s time two more movies were produced: Lucario and the Mystery of Mew and Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea .
Who The First Pokmon Ever Created Was
The first Pokémon ever created may surprise fans of the series, as it isn’t one of the first three starter Pokémon that kick off Kanto’s Pokédex.
Since the release of the first games in 1996, Pokémon has remained popular among its fans. What started as a cute pixel RPG adventure for the original Game Boy has grown to full 3D graphics on the Nintendo Switch, with nearly 900 total species available across 8 different regions. While many fans may imagine Charmander when thinking about the first Pokémon they remember, or believe that Bulbasaur must be the game’s first species as it is number #001, the very first Pokémon ever created is actually found later in the Kanto region’s Pokédex.
The Pokémon series has adopted a few different Pokémon that have become mascots for the series. Let’s Go Back To Kanto Again With Pikachu And Eevee
On May 30, 2018, it was announced that two new Pokémon games in the main Pokémon franchise, Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee!, were going to be released on November 16, 2018. They are the first installments of the main Pokémon RPG series for Nintendo Switch and are inspired by Pokémon Yellow with gameplay mechanics borrowed from Pokémon GO.
Sinnoh Is Brilliant & Shiny
On February 26, 2021, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, remakes of the Generation IV games Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, were announced on that day’s Pokémon Presents with a release date of late 2021. Pokémon Legends: Arceus was also announced during same Pokémon Presents, slated to be released in early 2022.

Alolan Meowth And Persian
Meowth were imported to Alola as a gift to royalty. Due to its pampered and luxurious lifestyle, Meowth grew greedy and selfish, becoming a pure Dark type and changing its appearance, later becoming feral and more common in the wild after the monarchy in Alola fell and left it living on the streets. Its prideful nature continued upon evolution as a Persian and its distinct and round face is revered by the people of Alola.
It’s A Second Step Into Unova
It was always anticipated that Black and White would eventually get a third version, as past generations have. Many assumed it would be called “Pokémon Grey Version”. However, this time there would be sequels, and with a different plot altogether.
Sequels to Black and White, Pokémon Black and White Versions 2, were released to Japan in June 2012 and came to North America, Europe and Australia in October 2012. The games feature two new forms of Kyurem, called Black Kyurem and White Kyurem , as well as new forms of the Forces of Nature and Keldeo. The games take place two years after Black and White, and many things have changed in the Unova region.
Some manga series followed the release of the second paired versions, most notably a new chapter of Pokémon Adventures which began its serialization in July 2013 .

The First Pokmon Ever Designed Aren’t What You Think
The “Pokémon” franchise has changed a lot since the original games, “Red” and “Blue” were released in 1996. Everything from the look and feel of the games, to the game card designs and the TV show’s animation, is drastically different from how they first appeared. One of the consistent aspects of most Pokémon gamesspanning from on the to the games is the choice of one of three different Pokémon at the start of the player’s adventures these three are often labeled “starter Pokémon”. Players can choose a Grass-type, Fire-type, or Water-type Pokémon indigenous to that particular region. For example, in Pokémon Red and Blue, the player has the choice of starting with , , or . The exception to this rule is Pokémon Yellow, where players are given a , an Electric-type mouse Pokémon, famous for being the mascot of the Pokémon media franchise unique to Pokémon Yellow, the three starter Pokémon from Red and Blue can be obtained during the quest by a single player.
However, in , there are two rivals one picks the Pokémon with a type advantage over the player’s chosen Pokémon, while the other chooses the Pokémon with the type disadvantage. In Pokémon Diamond, Pearl and Platinum, another Trainer chooses the Pokémon with a type disadvantage to the player’s chosen Pokémon, but never battles the player instead, this character battles alongside the player as a tag partner in certain situations.

Type: Null And Silvally
Type: Null was created by the Aether Foundation as part of its “Beast Killer” project – an initiative to create a Pokémon optimized for battling the Ultra Beasts by using cell cultures from all known types of Pokémon and combining their greatest strengths. Originally known as “Type: Full”, the RKS System it was originally built with was intended to allow it to change types in order to adapt to any situation. When the three known models all rejected the RKS system and went berserk, the project was deemed a failure and they were placed into cryogenic stasis. The helmet Type: Null wears was made to stabilize the side-effects of the RKS System’s rejection at the expense of suppressing its full power. When it evolves into Silvally, it deliberately destroys its helmet and becomes able to use the RKS System without losing control of itself. Silvally was named by Gladion, according to the Pokédex.
Another Type: Null is later created in Galar by Macro Cosmos by using stolen research notes.
