How To Walk With Your Buddy On The Map And Go On An Adventure In Pokmon Go
To earn hearts from your Buddy from certain activities – such as walking or battling together – they need to be visible on the map screen in ‘Adventure’ mode. They will then walk, fly or roll with you as you explore for a limited time.
To make them appear on the map screen, you have to make sure they are fully fed.
Feed your Buddy some Berries – three regular Berries will do – and their mood will increase, and you’ll be told they will have joined you on an Adventure.
They will join you on the map for around three hours, with a hunger gauge appearing around their icon next to the Trainer button in the bottom left corner.
Feel free to top that gauge up with Berries as you play, or just wait until it’s fully depleted before feeding them again.
Note if you switch between Buddies, their hunger meter will fully empty, so you’ll have to feed them again. While at this sounds frustrating, a benefit is you’ll be able to feed them again quicker if you switch back and forth, and earn some fast and easy Hearts.
What Is The Pokemon Go Buddy System
First of all, in order to choose a Buddy, simply click on your avatar on the lower left and youll see the Buddy icon. Just click on that and youll be able to choose and change your Buddies anytime.
Basically, the Buddy System allows you to have one of the Pokemon on your roster be like your partner. Feed your Buddy the right amount of Berries and it will start walking with you on the world map. That will run out after time so just feed it Berries again so that it starts running around with you.

What The Bubble Means
When you are looking at all of your Pokemon, you will notice that your buddy has a white bubble over its head that contains two smiling faces. This is like the marker you get when certain Pokemon are defending a gym. It’s just a label to remind you that that particular Pokemon has a job to do.
That white bubble means that this Pokemon is your current buddy.

The Buddy System In Pokemon Go
To avail the bonuses, players will need to level up their buddy in Pokemon Go. The level starts at “Good Buddy” and ends at “Best Buddy.” Each level requires trainers to collect a specific amount of affectionate hearts in Pokemon Go.
Trainers can collect hearts in the following ways:
- Walking together;gives up four hearts. For every 2km that trainers walk with their buddy, they’re awarded one heart. Replacing a buddy will reset any progress made towards the next heart, but it does not reset earning candy in Pokemon Go.
- Giving the buddy a treat;gives up to four hearts. To get more hearts, the Pokemon buddy needs to be at zero. Eating three berries counts as one heart. Trainers will need 12 berries per day to get all four hearts.
- Playing together;grants two hearts for tapping on the buddy in AR mode. Pet them for a few seconds until they spin and jump with delight.
- Battling together;gives two hearts for fighting in Gyms, Raids, Team GO, Rocket, or Trainer Battles. Training with leaders also counts as a Trainer Battle.
- Taking a snapshot;gives two hearts.
- Visiting a new place;gives two hearts. Visit a pokestop or gym that the trainer hasnt visited before with their buddy.
Trainers can earn up to 10 hearts a day to increase the friendship level. If the buddy’s mood is “excited” in Pokemon Go, then trainers stand a chance to earn up to 20 hearts in a day.

Changing your nickname is easy-peasy. Just tap the Pokeball on the main screen at the bottom > Settings > tap Change Nickname. You’ll get a warning that you can only change your nickname once, so choose wisely, and make it count! And make sure it’s at least PG-rated because other Trainers are going to see it.

Why Would You Walk With A Buddy
I mean, let’s get one thing straight: You don’t have to pick a buddy Pokémon. You can continue letting your character live a sad, solitary pixelated existence on a never-ending walking journey across the world.
But it’s the heart of the original Pokémon series: You pick a starter to be your friend and travel the world with you, because it’s no fun to go alone.
And, as a bonus, in Pokémon Go that buddy will also earn you some excellent Candy bonuses as you walk with it.

Joining A Raid Battle
Raid battles are arguably Pokemon Gos biggest feature. Once you hit level 20, you can access raid events in which a powerful Boss Pokemon appears at certain times of the day. If there’s a raid happening close to you, you get a notification and have the chance to join. But if you walk right up to a gym, youll be disappointed when the bouncer at the door asks for a Raid Pass or Premium Raid Pass and you don’t have one. These can be gotten by going to a gym and spinning the photo disc. Only one raid pass can be used per day, otherwise, you need to purchase a Premium Raid Pass from the shop to participate in raid battles more often.
How Long Will Best Buddy Take
If you want to level more than one buddy Pokemon, dont be shy to! Be cautious though as you can only change your buddy Pokemon 20 times per day. Pick them Pokemon you want to level wisely as it will take a while to get 300 hearts to become best buddies with your Pokemon.
There are a total of 10 hearts that can be gained per day. Meaning it will take:
1 day for good buddy7 days for great buddy15 days for ultra buddy30 days for best buddy

Trade Lots Of Pokemon To Get Lucky Ones
From now on, when you trade Pokemon, there’s a chance for them to become Lucky. That means they require less Stardust to power up than regular Pokemon. This makes them easier to train up to become powerful. Every trade won’t result in a lucky Pokemon, but there’s always a chance to get one, so there’s no better time than now to add a friend and try your luck.
How To Win A Raid Battle
Winning a raid battle is not as easy as your average gym match. Boss Pokemon are seriously powerful, with a difficulty ranging from level 1 to level 5. The higher the level, the higher the CP. Fortunately, youre not alone. Anyone who has a Raid Pass can join the battle, with up to 20 players in a a group. Combat is like any gym battle: attacks are the same, you can heal your Pokemon, or even flee and rejoin the battle as long as the raid isnt over.

Pokemon Go: Earning Candy Via The Pokemon Buddy System
Once you’ve got your buddy set, this Pokemon will start earning candy for you as you walk. This mechanic works much the same as Pokemon eggs: walk around and the game will reward candy after a certain amount of distance traveled. You’ll either need to keep the game open, use the Adventure Sync feature or buy a Pokemon Go Plus to track all your movements.
There’s a catch to all this: Different Pokemon have different walking needs. A Metapod, for instance, only requires you to walk 1km in order to receive a candy. A Charmander meanwhile requires you to walk 3km while a Lapras requires you to walk 5km. All of this will be very familiar to Pokemon egg farmers.
As with everything in Pokemon Go, there are hidden statistics under the hood that mean some buddies will be quicker to level up than others via walking and then spending their candy, so keep that in mind.
Tap the Buddy option at any time as described above to check how far along you are to your next piece of candy. As mentioned earlier, switching buddy midway through a walking milestone will reset that milestone, losing progress towards your next candy.
As with eggs, you’ll need to keep the game screen open on your phone when walking in order to reap the benefits. As with when you’re hatching an egg, when you’ve walked enough to gain a candy the game will alert you much as it does with Pokemon eggs.

Can I Optimize Egg Hatching And What’s A Kilometer
While visiting Pokestops, you’ll probably pick up some eggs, from which Pokemon hatch. But first, you need to incubate them, and then walk around. To do that, go to your Pokemon collection, and in the upper-right you’ll see an Eggs tab. Tap that, choose an egg, then an incubator. Then you walk around and wait for the hatch. Here’s some advice: Don’t waste your time incubating the 2K eggs unless you really want more low-level Pokemon . The 5K eggs can net you some decent monsters, such as Cubone, Porygon, Machops, or Sandshrew. The 10K eggs get you more powerful, uncommon ones like Snorlax.
