How This Affects Pokmon With Multiple Types
As I mentioned before, some Pokémon will have multiples types, and this table gets even more tricky to understand once you start looking at how interactions like that work. The good news is theres a pretty simple way to break it down.
All modifiers for damage by a particular attack are calculated together when it comes to dealing with Pokémon that have multiple types.
For example, if you use a Flying attack against a Pokémon with both Bug and Grass types, it would do four times as much damage, since Flying attacks usually do double damage to each type.
Following in the pattern, if you were to use a Ground attack against a Pokémon with both Bug and Grass types, it would do 1/4 of the damage, since ground attack normally would do 1/2 damage to each type.
How Does The Types Work In Pokmon Up To Pokmon Legends Arceus
In the recent Pokémon installments we can find 18 Pokemon types. The latest one, Fairy type was introduced in Generation VI to balance the Dragon and Dark types. Since 2013, things have remained fairly stable in terms of Rates. Each Pokémon can have 1 or 2 types. They can have up to 4 moves, or attacks, that also have types. The type of moves is the one that interacts with the type of the defending Pokémon.
When fighting, players should use Pokémon moves that have an advantage over their opponents type so they cause more damage to the rival creatures. If done, they will inflict double damage . It is important to note that some Pokémon are double-type, so their resistances and weaknesses stack. For example, using a Grass-type move against a Groud-Rock type Pokémon will inflict a x4 modifier in the damage since it causes a x2 in each type.
There is another feature to take into consideration when ordering a Pokémon to attack. The STAB or Same Type Attack Bonus implies that when a Pokémon has the same type as the move it is using, it will have a 1.5 damage multiplier. For example, a Grass type Pokémon using a Grass-type move. This can be stacked with the previous mention advantages.
Pokmon Go Type Chart: How To Remember Pokmon Types
For anyone who has invested years of play into this series, the type system becomes second nature. While in time your memory too will retain most of, if not the full set of relationships it is worth learning the logical relationships that do exist.
The classic example taught at the beginning of every Pokémon game is that fire is super effective against grass, which is in turn super effective against water, which is in turn super effective against fire. This is easy enough to follow fire burns grass, grass thrives with water, water puts out fire but finding similar relationships in the other 18 types is will help you remember the system.
Here are some other ideas to get you started:
- Rocks effectiveness against flying is reminiscent of the phrase kill two birds with one stone
- Similarly, psychic is effective against fighting because brains are better than brawn but psychic is vulnerable to dark and ghost because the mind cannot cope with the unknown and supernatural
- Ground types are immune to electric attacks because being grounded is an important principle in electric circuits but ground can be swept away be water, cracked by ice and exploited by grass.

Pokemon Go Type Chart: Strengths Effectiveness Weaknesses And Resistances Explained
In Pokemon Go, Every type of Pokemon has four different relationships with other types any trainer should be aware of. That is:
- Strong Against: represented on our type chart as Strong Vs, attacks from the listed type against the type listed here will deal additional damage to your opponent. This is ‘Super Effective’.
- Weak Against: represented here as Weak Vs, attacks from the listed type against these types will do less damage to the enemy. This is ‘Not very effective…’
- Resistance: listed as resist, taking attacks from this type will do much less damage to you.
- Vulnerable: your type’s weaknesses. Attacks of these types will deal more damage – watch out!
So, for instance, Offensively a Ground-type Pokemon/move is Strong against Poison, Rock, Steel, Fire and Electric types, dealing double damage to them. It only does 50% damage against Flying, Bug and Grass Pokemon. Defensively, that same Ground-type Pokemon will take reduced damage from Poison, Rock and Electric Pokemon but also take double damage from Water, Grass and Ice – which is vulnerable to.
With that explained, let’s get into the Pokemon Go type chart in full.
Which Is The Strongest Fairy Pokemon

Whats Good Against Water Pokemon
Battling against water Pokemon can be tricky because there are so many of them in fact, there are more water type Pokemon than any other type! That makes for a lot of different battle strategies!
And, water typing has now been paired with every other type which further complicates their weaknesses and resistances.
Tips When Using Water
- We mentioned earlier that Water-types are generally in the middle of the road. They are good, but they arent too good but not that bad. Their stats are in the middle among other types.
- The good thing about Water-types is that there are some parts where you really need to have a Water-type in tow. You may need one of them to perform Surf from time to time, and Surf itself is a good move in battle.
- One benefit of using Water-types is that they have a well-balanced move set. They have a lot of moves that can deal damage. They also have a lot of moves that perform buffs and debuffs.
- A lot of these debuffs can be unique when they can reduce Fire damage even further and use the move Rain Dance. It is a move that buffs and strengthens Water moves for all of your Pokemon.
- They also have a bunch of moves that can heal your Pokemon. Basically, you can use a Water-type as your front-liner, considering that it can do the right amount of damage and sustain its survivability.
In closing, while Water-types may not be that powerful in terms of offense, knowing the Water Pokemon strength and weakness can give you an idea on how you can use them in battle.

Poison Type Pokemon
These Pokémon have a natural toxic quality. some directly represent the species of the real world known for their poison, such as snakes, and some even represent the dirt itself. They usually live in caves, marshes or similar places.
Most poison-type Pokémon are based on poisonous animals . Some of them are also based on poisonous plants . Most Poison-type Pokémon have another type, Bug or Grass. This shows how insects and plants are toxic in real life. A very curious fact about Poison Pokémon is that some of them look like ninja. For example, Koffing is like a ball of smoke, Crobat has the speed and the secret of a ninja and Toxicroak has legs that make him look like a ninja. Some types of poison also resemble the types of pollution. Garbodor represents waste pollution, Weezing, air pollution and Muk, wastewater pollution. Pokmon Go Types Strengths And Weakness
Pokémon also has its own set of weaknesses and strengths. For example, bug-type Pokémon are weak against fire-, flying-, and rock-type moves. Bug-type moves are strong against dark-, grass-, and psychic-type moves. Fire-, flying-, and rock-type moves will do double damage against a bug-type, like Caterpie.
Some Pokémon have two types, which means they can have a doubled weakness or have their strength and weaknesses cancel out to just take normal damage. Rayquaza, a dragon- and flying-type, takes four times the damage from ice-type moves. On the flip side, Shuckle, a rock- and bug-type, takes normal damage from fire-type moves, since rock-type is strong against fire-type.
Strengths and weaknesses also arent necessarily just opposites of each other. Though fire-type move deal less damage to water-type Pokémon and water-type moves do doubled damage against fire-type Pokémon, this isnt the case with every type. For example, fighting-type moves are strong against normal-types, but normal-types just do regular damage against fighting-types, rather than do reduced damage.
Knowing what Pokémons strengths and weaknesses are is an important aspect of raiding and battling. To do the most damage you can, you should make sure that your Pokémons moves are strong against what its battling.
Memorizing all of that can get confusing, so heres a chart to help you out.

Other than this, they have low resistance against special type attacks, and some types counter them directly.
The water type doesnt have immunity against any of the pokemon classes, which is another weakness. Their weak defense is what makes them vulnerable to several other types.
However, the water type also has some high damaging special attacks, which will work against pokemon who rely too much on physical attacks.
Moreover, there are many pokemon that have a weakness against water type, so keep that in mind when going up against dual type pokemon.
Is There An Electric Water Pokemon
One of these transformations is Wash Rotom, where Rotom inhabits a washing machine and becomes an Electric/Water dual-type. And due to its Electric-type, that also erases the Water-type weakness to Electric-type moves. For Wash Rotom, Grass-type moves are the only moves to inflict super effective damage.

These special cases still exist in Pokémon GO, however, they do around a third normal damagerather than doing no damage at all.
