Everything We Know About Aerodactyl

Aerodactyl is a Gen 1 Pokémon which, in the mainline Pokémon games, is often obtained by reviving a piece of Old Amber at certain labs dotted across the world of Pokémon.

The Aerodactyl you receive, however, is not the Pokémon in its true form. If you wish to see how Aerodactyl looked in the prehistoric era, then you need to conduct its Mega Evolution. Doing so will cause rocks to sprout across Aerodactyl’s body, emphasising its draconic appearance.

Aerodactyl is inspired by both dragons and a type of dinosaur known as Pterosaurs. Palaeontologists would later look to Aerodactyl for inspiration when naming a pterosaur genus – Aerodactylus.

Good luck battling Mega Aerodactyl!

Pokemon Type Weaknesses And Strengths Chart Explained

Despite the table above, there is actually much more to type effectiveness than meets the eye. For example:

  • Super effective moves will deal double the damage, whereas weak moves will deal half. There are also a few moves that will deal no damage at all, such as normal-type attacks against ghost-types.
  • Dual-types also play an important role. Dual-type Pokemon, as the name suggests, have two types. If the move you are using is effective against both the opposing Pokemons typing, it will deal 4x the damage. Conversely, if the move is weak against both, then it will be just 1/4 of the overall damage.

The best example of a super-effective type attack is using a water attack against a rock and/or ground type. In this instance, Geodude would be 4x more susceptible against any water Pokemon attacks directed at it.

The opposite of this would occur when a Fairy-type move is used a mon like Heatran, which is a dual steel/fire-type. This would result in just 1/4 of the damage.

Learning all of these strengths and weaknesses will undoubtedly take time, but utilizing our guide here when in doubt will help you on your way to becoming Galars number one trainer in the region!

What Type Of Pokemon Is Good Against Ground Pokemon And Why

Water Type Pokemon

All ground type pokemon are weak against the water type.

Water type pokemon inflict damage with special moves, but they also have physical moves in their arsenal. As a result, they are strong against the ground type and are a good choice against them.

All water type moves are super effective against the ground type, and the ground types also take double the damage from water type moves.

This is why they are against them.

Grass Type pokemon

Another good choice against these pokemon is the grass type. However, they also cause damage with unique moves, and as we know, ground type pokemon have a weak defense against special moves.

Because of this, these are good to use against them. However, one weakness they have is their low HP, so you need to be mindful of what the other pokemon is doing and need to use your cards wisely.

Ice Type Pokemon

If you want another strong option against the ground type, you should use an ice type. Ice type pokemon also have some high damaging special moves, which are great to use against the ground type.

Their low defense stat against special moves is a significant weakness for ground type.

What Can Defeat Ice

WATER strengths and weaknesses

Ice Types: The Ice type pokemon are very effective against Grass, Ground, Flying and Dragon type pokemon. While weak to Fire, Fighting, Rock and Steel types. Example a Lapras will die very easy to a Charizard, Hitmonlee, Golem or Steelix but can kill a Venusar, Sandlash, Pidgeot or Dragonite very easy.

Which Pokemon Type Has The Most Weaknesses

And, theyre right. Rock-types are, to put it bluntly, rock-solid, with a high average defense stat one of the highest of any type. Unfortunately, Rock is tied for first place for the most weaknesses, with five. These weaknesses include Grass, Water, Fighting, Steel, and Ground.

Pokemon Go: What Are Flying

Pokemon GO’s skies are often filled with the wingbeats of Flying-type Pokemon, and they can be a significant asset to a player’s battle team.

But, how can trainers counter them?

The majority of Flying-type Pokemon currently available in Pokemon GO share their type with other elements such as Fire-, Dragon, Dark, or Normal-type. The rare exception in this case is Tornadus, a pure Flying-type legendary Pokemon.

Speaking in pure terms without accounting for dual-type resistances, Flying-type Pokemon are weak to Electric-, Ice- and Rock-type moves. Although a Pokemon’s second elemental type can shake things up in that regard, most Flying-types are susceptible to these three elements.

Who Is Better Dragonite Salamence Or Garchomp

Salamence. Its ability is the best out of the three, IMO. Not only that, but it can fill several roles on your team and pack a powerful punch each time. Garchomp is rather limited in its diversity Dragonite is pretty much outclassed by Salamence when it comes to offense, whether it be physical OR special.Mar 21, 2007

How I Remember Flying Type Strengths and Weaknesses for Pokemon

The chart below will let you know which attacks to use and which to avoid based on Pokémon type.

For instance, a bug-type Pokémons bug attacks are super effective against grass-, dark-, and psychic-type Pokémon. However, bug-types take increased damage from any fire-, flying-, or rock-type moves.

Keep this chart handy whenever youre facing off against any trainers and especially during your Gym Challenges, as each of those trainers specializes in specific Pokémon.

As an example, the first major trainer you fight in Pokémon Sword and Shield is Milo, who specializes in grass-type Pokémon. Looking at the chart below, youll want to make sure that you have some Pokémon that can do bug-, fire-, flying-, ice-, or poison-type attacks in your roster. You may also want to take any ground-, rock-, or water-types out of that match sorry Sobble starters!

Knowing type match ups will be helpful in just about any battle, especially when youre trying to catch Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokémon.

What Is Weak To What

If youre here, you probably dont know the type weaknesses and resistances. Also, maybe you dont know that when a pokmon uses an attack of its type, like if an elecrtic pokmon uses an electric attack, the damage is multiplied by 1.5. Well, here are the types:

Normal is a plain type. Some people say its useless, but others say its great. Id say Normal type pokmon are good, many of them have good status and they have only one weakness, Fighting, and are competely immune to Ghost, although they resist no other type. Normal type attacks, however, are not as good. No type is weak to them, but Ghost is immune to Normal and Rock and Steel resist it. But Normal attacks can be the solution to your problems anyway, as most pokmon can learn Normal attacks and many of them are strong. The Normal type is a physical type, so all Normal attacks are counted as physical attacks.

Fire is a hot type. Fire is a powerful type that should be on every team. Scizor and Forretress, both very common in teams, are only weak to Fire. Fire is super effective on Bug, Steel, Grass and Ice and is not very effective on Fire, Water, Rock and Dragon. No type is immune to Fire. Water, Rock and Ground are super effective on Fire pokmon and Fire, Grass, Bug, Ice and Steel are not very effective on them. The Fire type is a special type, so all Fire attacks are counted as special attacks.

What Is Dragon Type Weak Too

In the games, Dragon types are only weak against Ice and Dragon type moves. They are also highly resistant to Fire, Electric, Grass and Water type moves, with all four being featured as the starting Pokémons types in the first Generation. Dragon attacks cannot hurt it and Fairy attacks are super-effective against it.

Why Are Dragon Types Weak To Dragon

Do you want the real reason or the lore reason? Lore reason: Dragon types are resistant to the more mundane elements, such as fire, water, grass, or electric type attacks, with their only mundane weakness in ice typing coming from being endothermic creatures who cannot regulate internal body temperature.

Fairy Types Can Beat Fighting Types But Why

Despite their fighting spirit and tough look, fighting types have weaknesses like any other Pokémon. Their weaknesses include flying and psychic types. They are also weak against fairy types, though this one seems to be the more head-scratching weakness of the bunch since theres no official or clear-cut reason for it.

It could possibly be inferred that fairy represents magic, something that cant be fought in a traditional sense. Though even that reason could be argued against since the feats of fighting-type Pokémon can defy whats physically possible, according to the Pokédex.

Fairy Type Is The Bane Of Dragon Type

With plenty of resistances and only a couple of weaknesses, dragon types used to be on top of the world and nearly unstoppable. That is, until Pokémons sixth-generation added fairy type to its roster, bringing the mighty dragons down a peg with them as their new weakness. However, it is a little strange that fairies turned out to be the bane of dragon types.

Fairies are usually depicted as small and cute creatures, and a lot of the Pokémon under this type definitely fit that mold. And fairies dont typically beat dragons in fantasy stories, so it seems like a stretch for Pokémon like Jigglypuff or Slurpuff to be so effective against intimidating foes like Dragonite and Salamence.

Water beats Fire. Fire beats Grass. Grass beats Water. Sounds good. Fighting beats Steel? Fairy beats Dragon? Dragon beats itself? Wait, what?

Every single creature and move that exists in the large and wild cast of the Pokémon franchise has a type that affects their powers and abilities. Type matchups are also a key component to Pokémon battling as some types of Pokémon are strong or weak against specific other types.

For the most part, Pokémons type advantages make sense. However, some of them seem like a bit of a stretch and there are plenty that seem like random choices to give certain Pokémon types more advantages.

Pokemon Go Type Chart: Strengths Effectiveness Weaknesses And Resistances Explained

In Pokemon Go, Every type of Pokemon has four different relationships with other types any trainer should be aware of. That is:

  • Strong Against: represented on our type chart as Strong Vs, attacks from the listed type against the type listed here will deal additional damage to your opponent. This is ‘Super Effective’.
  • Weak Against: represented here as Weak Vs, attacks from the listed type against these types will do less damage to the enemy. This is ‘Not very effective…’
  • Resistance: listed as resist, taking attacks from this type will do much less damage to you.
  • Vulnerable: your type’s weaknesses. Attacks of these types will deal more damage – watch out!

So, for instance, Offensively a Ground-type Pokemon/move is Strong against Poison, Rock, Steel, Fire and Electric types, dealing double damage to them. It only does 50% damage against Flying, Bug and Grass Pokemon. Defensively, that same Ground-type Pokemon will take reduced damage from Poison, Rock and Electric Pokemon but also take double damage from Water, Grass and Ice – which is vulnerable to.

With that explained, let’s get into the Pokemon Go type chart in full.

Pokmon Go Type Chart: How To Remember Pokmon Types

For anyone who has invested years of play into this series, the type system becomes second nature. While in time your memory too will retain most of, if not the full set of relationships it is worth learning the logical relationships that do exist.

The classic example taught at the beginning of every Pokémon game is that fire is super effective against grass, which is in turn super effective against water, which is in turn super effective against fire. This is easy enough to follow fire burns grass, grass thrives with water, water puts out fire but finding similar relationships in the other 18 types is will help you remember the system.

Here are some other ideas to get you started:

  • Rocks effectiveness against flying is reminiscent of the phrase kill two birds with one stone
  • Similarly, psychic is effective against fighting because brains are better than brawn but psychic is vulnerable to dark and ghost because the mind cannot cope with the unknown and supernatural
  • Ground types are immune to electric attacks because being grounded is an important principle in electric circuits but ground can be swept away be water, cracked by ice and exploited by grass.
