But Wait What The Heck Is A Lucky Egg

Pokemon Go How to Train and Evolve Your Pokemon

It’s an egg that’s lucky! Really, it’s filled with happiness and most importantly, grants you double the amount of experience points you can gain for 30 minutes at a time. You can only buy these in the Shop, with Coins. If you’ve got a couple Pokemon you’re almost ready to evolve, save up those candies until you’ve got a Lucky Egg, then evolve them all one after another while the Lucky Egg’s dank XP aura is in the air to double down on that extra CP and XP.

Who’s That Pokemon It’s Pikachu

If you’re already a Level 30 trainer, then you may not care about this tip. But if you’re just starting out and you’re about to select your starter Pokemon , don’t! Like Lord Humongous says: “Just walk away!” Instead, walk away from the starters, and keep ignoring them, and eventually, the plump electric mouse himself will appear for you to recruit. Finally, you, too, can be just like Ash Ketchum.

A Note About Evolving Eevees

Unlike in the main Pokémon video games, which require you to give Eevee a special elemental stone to evolve it into either Flareon , Vaporeon , Jolteon , Umbreon , or Espeon , Pokémon Go randomizes your Eevee evolution. However, there is a trick to evolving your Eevee into what you want it to be. By naming your Eevee one the names of the Eevee characters in the Pokémon anime series Sparky , Rainer , Pyro , Sakura , or Tamao you can force them to evolve into the Eeveelution corresponding with their nicknames element. The naming trick only works once, so if you already got a Vaporeon by naming it Rainer, you wont be able to get a second using the name. A separate trick lets you evolve Eevees reliably into either Umbreon or Espeon. It requires you make the Eevee you want to evolve your buddy. You then need to walk 10 km with that Eevee and earn three Eevee candies while doing so. Finally, while the Eevee is still your buddy, evolve it if you do the evolution during daylight hours, youll get an Espeon at night, an Umbreon.

One more thing: Transferring Pokémon is not reversible. You wont be able to get transferred Pokémon back. Only deposit the weaker extras of the same Pokémon, and hold on to your strongest one.

Feed Your Pokmon Candies

Though they don’t affect your Pokémon’s level, Candies are also essential to giving your Pokémon the edge in battle. They give permanent boosts to their stats, making them arguably even more effective than leveling up.

Types of Candies include the following.

Candy

You can collect Candies by:

  • Catching Pokémon.
  • Sending Pokémon to Professor Oak.
  • Playing and completing games in the Play Yard in the GO Park Complex.
  • Using the Poké Ball Plus Device to take your Pokémon out when walking in real time.

Experience points are valuable and a necessity if for success in this wildly fun video game! With these tips, you’ll be beefing up your Pokémon in no time, ready to face the Elite Four, and even battle online!

Why Do I Want To Level Up Or Evolve My Pokmon In The First Place

Pokemon

There are two big reasons: fighting at gyms for your team, and XP bonuses to raise your own trainer level.

If you want to fight at gyms, you either need to find and catch high-level creatures, or level up your Pokémon. Until you get to level 20, we generally recommend saving your Stardust and Candy, because you’ll likely end up catching far more powerful creatures as you progress.

Once you hit 20, however, you should be able to catch Pokémon in the wild who already have a high enough level that they’re worth investing in.

Just because you’re hoarding Stardust and Candy, however, that doesn’t mean you want to ignore evolving entirely.

For one, evolving your Pokémon gives you access to more entries in your Pokédex, as not every evolutionary step can be caught in the wild.

In addition, you also can use the evolution of common Pokémon like Pidgey and Caterpie to dramatically increase your XP and Trainer level.

How Much Stardust Does Trading Cost

It varies depending on the Pokémon and the friendship level between the two players making the trade. Some Pokémon like Pikachu and Squirtle can be Traded between Best Friends for tiny amounts of Stardust 100.

Special Trades, which involve Legendary, Shiny, and new , are another story. They could start at one million Stardust with a Good Friend. Yes 1,000,000! The 1,000,000 number is just for new friends. Once you work your way up to best friends you can trade a Legendary, Shiny, or New-for-you Pokémon for “just” 40,000 Stardust.

Friendship Level is fundamental to Trading as each increase to your level gets you a discount.

  • Good Friend 0% Stardust discount
  • Great Friend 20% Stardust discount
  • Ultra Friend 92% Stardust discount
  • Best Friend 96% Stardust discount

What You Need To Know About Pokmon

Whether you’ve never caught a Pokémon before or you’ve been collecting these creatures since childhood, you’ll quickly get introduced to the Pokémon of this world after starting the game.

At the start, you’ll only be able to catch Nintendo’s original lineup of Pokémon those found in the Red, Blue, and Yellow titles though we expect expansions to appear as the game grows and works out the bugs.

Pokémon come in variety of types, shapes, and sizes: Of the over 100 Pokémon available for capture, you’ll find creatures of the Fairy, Psychic, Electric, Grass, Water, Ghost, Bug, Rock, Ground, Poison, Flying, and Normal type. We haven’t spotted any Legendary Pokémon quite yet, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t out there hiding.

Each geographical area has a specific Pokémon type, and some creatures are more difficult to find than others. If you keep running into the same group of Pidgey and Caterpie, don’t lose hope: You need to travel around your area to find all the Pokémon. You can head to local lakes, ponds, or beaches to find Water-type Pokémon, for example, or wait until the evening to have a better chance at grabbing a Fairy type.

Cp Is More Accurate Than Level

A Pokémon with a CP that is too low is the first to be booted from a Gym, so this CP value had to be accurate. While CP calculations arent perfect, the CP definitely depicts a Pokémons strength much more accurately than Level does.

For example, a Weedle and a Charizard can both be level 40, but that doesnt mean that they are equivalent in fighting prowess. The system in Pokémon GO conveniently takes all these statistical differences into account, and wraps it all neatly into one number. There are three stats found in GO: Stamina , Attack, and Defense. From data-mining, we know all of the base values for each Pokémon. Charizard has a base Stamina of 156, an Attack of 212, and a Defense of 182. Weedle, meanwhile, sits at 80 Stamina, 68 Attack, and 64 Defense. Even if these two Pokémon are the same level, their strength will be wildly different due to their base stats. If you sort your Pokemon by CP, you see a Pokémons true strength. If you could instead sort by Level, you would still have that much more mental sorting to do. In this regard, the CP system is very helpful, and far superior.

What Is Stardust And Candy Exactly

There are two items in the game’s world you can’t buy or trade you have to find them in the world by catching Pokémon.

Stardust is solely used to help you raise your Pokémon’s level and overall CP, while breed-specific Candy can be used in tandem with Stardust to raise your level, or by itself to evolve your Pokémon.

While Stardust is universal, every breed requires a different type of candy. As such, you can’t collect 20 Spearow candies and 5 Eevee candies and try to evolve an Eevee .

How To Train Your Pokemon

Unlike in traditional Pokemon games, you don’t train your Pokemon by battling in Pokemon GO. Instead, you raise your Pokemon’s CP–Combat Power–by feeding it Pokemon Candy and Stardust. CP is essentially a measurement of how strong the Pokemon is, and is important to consider when choosing a Pokemon to use in Gym battles.

There are only two ways to increase your Pokemon’s CP. You can:

  • Power Up your Pokemon
  • Evolve your Pokemon

Both of these methods will increase your Pokemon’s CP and HP, but will require different quantities of Stardust and Candy.

How Does Leveling Up And Evolving Work In Pokmon Go

Pokémon in the game have a variety of viewable stats:

  • Level arc: This is the white arc surrounding a Pokémon’s portrait. The white dot on the arc shows you the level of your Pokémon in contrast to your personal trainer level: Level 1 is at the far left side, while your current trainer level is represented at the far right side. You cannot catch Pokémon at a higher level than you are .
  • CP : This stat is a combined number that reflects your Pokémon’s overall strength.
  • HP : How much damage your Pokémon can take at a gym before fainting.
  • Type: The type of Pokémon.
  • Weight and Height: Purely cosmetic features.
  • Attacks: Your Pokémon’s two attacks one is a basic attack, and one is a special attack that requires a charge-up.

To increase or change these stats, you need two items: Stardust and breed-specific Candy. The latter will also help you evolve your base-level Pokémon into the next step in their evolutionary chain.

In addition, there are three secret stats you can’t level up, called IVs: your stamina, attack, and defense. These were set in stone when your Pokémon came into the world. You can check them by having your Team Leader appraise your Pokémon.

How To Catch Your First Pokmon

As with all Pokémon games, when a trainer begins their first journey, they’re given a choice of which Pokémon to start with. After you’ve finished customizing your avatar, three Pokémon will appear in front of you. You can choose from Bulbasaur, Charmander, or Squirtle , Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile after capturing one, the other two will disappear.

But wait: There’s more. If you walk away from the original three Pokémon four times, you’ll get a fourth starter Pokémon option: Pikachu.

Pokemon Go: How to train your gym! The Right way!!

If there’s a raid happening close to you, you get a notification and have the chance to join. But if you walk right up to a gym, youll be disappointed when the bouncer at the door asks for a Raid Pass or Premium Raid Pass and you don’t have one. These can be gotten by going to a gym and spinning the photo disc. Only one raid pass can be used per day, otherwise, you need to purchase a Premium Raid Pass from the shop to participate in raid battles more often.

Evolve That Eevee Rename It

If you remember the original Pokemon cartoon, you may recall the three Eevee Brothers, who each owned one of Eevee’s evolutions: a Flareon, Jolteon, and Vaporeon. If you nickname your Eevee one of the brothers’ punny names, then it will evolve into your desired evolution! Want a Flareon? Then name it Pyro. Want a Jolteon? Name it Sparky! Jonesing for a Vaporeon? Then call it Rainer. This may not work all the time, however it’s an almost-guaranteed way to evolve one of your Eevees, but this weird method may not work 100 percent of the time.

How To Power Up A Pokmon

Until I try, I

In addition to evolving Pokémon, you can choose to Power Up, a system that increases their CP in small bursts. Powering up your Pokémon is one of the more complex aspects of the game.

On the surface, it seems simple: Players give their Pokémon Stardust, a currency you earn by catching Pokémon and by winning gym battles and raids, and candies to increase their numbers. Like evolving, powering up increases the HP and CP of your Pokémon, but at a slower rate. The more you increase a Pokémons CP, the more Stardust you will need to upgrade it.

In general, Pokémon with higher CP will beat Pokémon with lower CP in battle, but that isnt always the case, thanks to its underlying stats. Instead of a number, players get to see the Pokémons CP potential, which shows its level on a sliding scale relative to your trainer level.

You can upgrade your Pokémon up to 150% of your current trainer level, so the CP cap a particular Pokémon can reach is measured by a white arc when you select it on the Pokémon menu. As you power up the Pokémon, that arc will fill toward the right side, and when its completely full, you wont be able to power up that Pokémon any more until you increase your own overall Trainer level through experience points. Each time you power up a Pokémon, you increase its level by one half.
