Pokemon Home is a very useful tool for all sorts of Pokemon fans, but a prolonged Pokemon Home Premium Plan subscription isnt necessary for anyone outside of very active Pokemon players that are either trading for shinies or looking to complete their Pokedex.
Players have access to a Basic Box for free that has 30 slots to work with. This is completely suitable for transferring Pokemon from Pokemon GO to Sword and Shield, or moving Pokemon between Nintendo Switch titles including Sword, Shield, and the Lets Go games. Though players will have to navigate menus extensively, Pokemon Homes primary features can be used for free.
The Pokemon Home Premium Plan comes into play for those who are looking to transfer Pokemon from the 3DS to the Nintendo Switch. Players who are looking to do a mass migration of Pokemon from the 3DS titles to the Nintendo Switch can do so with a one-month subscription, which costs $3.
However, once a subscription expires any Pokemon outside the Basic Box are effectively held for ransom until the subscription is renewed. Pokemon outside the Basic Box will not be deleted, but cannot be moved or transferred into a game unless there is an active subscription. Because of this, players need to be somewhat selective regarding how many Pokemon they migrate into Pokemon Home that arent compatible with Sword and Shield.
Pokmon Home: How To Transfer To And From Sword And Shield
The Crown Tundra DLC is finally here for Pokémon Sword and Shield. The Crown Tundra is full of new and returning Pokémon that you can catch, but what about your old friends that have faithfully fought by your side in older games? Alongside the Crown Tundra, The Pokémon Company is rolling out an update to Pokémon HOME that allows you to transfer over 100 additional species of Pokémon to Pokémon Sword and Shield. Pokémon HOME is free to download but requires a paid subscription for full functionality.
If Youre Moving Pokmon From X Y Omega Ruby Alpha Sapphire Sun Moon Ultra Moon Or Ultra Sun
These games work natively with Pokémon Bank, so you should be able to download Pokémon Bank, put the desired cartridge in your 3DS, and add them to the Pokémon Bank boxes. You can press Start on your 3DS to select multiple Pokémon at once, too. Make sure all if the Pokémon you want to move to Home are in Bank.
Fire up Pokémon Home on your Nintendo Switch and select the Move option from the main menu. If youre using the mobile app, open the menu, go to settings, and select Move. Select the option on the 3DS to move from Pokémon Bank to Home, and select all the boxes you want to move to Home.
After starting the moving process on your Switch, Pokémon Home will give you a code to input on your 3DS. Enter the code, and the transfer process will begin, moving your selected Pokémon to Home.
Home will say that it cant be used while Pokémon are transferring, so check back in a couple minutes to make sure your Pokémon made it through safely.

Moving Pokemon From 3ds Pokemon Games
If you’re looking to move Pokemon over from Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, or from Pokemon Sun and Moon, you’ll need to use Pokemon Bank. To do so, load up Pokemon Home on your Nintendo Switch and scroll down to ‘Move’. Here, you’ll be given the option to connect your Pokemon Bank account, by signing in with the associated ID. You’ll need a premium Pokemon Home plan to do so.

Transferring Pokémon from your Game Boy Advance games to Pokémon HOME isn’t necessarily difficult. Still, it is a long and tedious process that requires a couple of different Nintendo DS systems to be on hand. Fear not, though, because it is possible, and you’ll have your favorite GBA Pokémon into Pokémon HOME soon enough. Buckle up.
From Bank To Home On Switch Without A 3ds
You can still transfer to Home if you have Bank but no 3DS or 2DS. However, its handled a bit differently.
First, youll need to link your Nintendo Network ID and Nintendo Account, both of which are free.
If you already created your Nintendo Account, you can opt to link the two from your account overview page. If you havent, linking them is an option when you create your Nintendo Account. Now follow the directions below.

Enter Your Nintendo Account Password Manually In Pokemon Home
When attempting to link a Nintendo Account to Pokemon Home, a separate browser window will open asking trainers to login to their Nintendo Account. Thanks to modern technology passwords can now be stored on mobile devices and are automatically entered into some logins. This functionality is usually super helpful, however, it is the main cause of not being able to link Nintendo Account to Home.
Instead of having your device auto-fill the password space to login to their Nintendo Account, trainers will need to enter their password manually by typing out their password. If a trainer uses the auto-fill function they will be greeted with the message pictured above stating Unable to log in using your Nintendo Account. Please check the Q& A for your Nintendo Account.
This will work the majority of the time, however, there is still another issue trainers can run into when attempting to link their Nintendo Account.

Pokmon Bank Update: How To Transfer Pokmon From Red Blue And Yellow To Sun And Moon
Now that Pokémon Bank is updated to work with Sun and Moon, trainers will now be able to transfer Pokémon from X and Y and Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire as well as from the virtual console releases of Red, Blue and Yellow.
A few things to know about the Gen 1 Pokémon that can be transported. Every Pokémon transported will have their Hidden Ability, a random Nature and at least 3 max IVs, so youll at least know the Gen 1 Pokémon will have their Hidden Abilities.
But how do you actually transport Pokémon from RBY to Sun and Moon? Heres a step-by-step guide to using Pokémon Bank and Pokémon Transporter.
- Open Poké Transporter and it will ask which game you will want to use. Once you have Red, Blue or Yellow on your 3DS, you can choose one of them. Select Use this Game. It should be noted that once Pokémon have been transported, they cannot go back.
- If you have a glitched Pokémon like Mew, it will be removed from the Transfer Box.
- The way Poké Transporter works is that instead of taking Pokémon one by one like Pokémon Bank, it transports an entire box from your game. Once you choose the box to transport, it will send it to Pokémon Bank.
- Open Pokémon Bank and choose the Use Pokémon Bank option. Shift the box on the top screen to the left of Box 1 to get to the Transport Box. From there you can move the Pokémon one by one to your Sun or Moon game.
- Press X to save and your Gen 1 Pokémon will be transferred.

Note: Only Pokémon from LeafGreen, FireRed, Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald can be traded. You will also need a 4th or 5th generation DS game and an older Nintendo DS that has a Game Boy cartridge slot. Pokémon with hidden moves like HMs cannot be transferred, so you’ll need to go to the Move Deleter first and make the Pokémon you wish to forget any HMs they know.
Take Your Old Pokmon On A New Adventure
You don’t have to buy the Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra DLC to transfer older Pokémon into Pokémon Sword and Shield, but the expansions are an excellent addition to one of the best Nintendo Switch games. You can tear through the tundra with a Metagross or sweep through the Isle of Armor with a Dragonite.

From Bank To Home On Switch With A 3ds
If you’ve still got a 3DS or 2DS lying around, here’s how to transfer with those devices. Pokemon Bank and Transporter are free until March 12, so if you never downloaded the app before, now’s the time to do it if you want to move your Pokemon over.
Pokemon Bank
- From the main menu, choose “Move Pokemon to Pokemon Home”
- Pick which boxes you want to transfer over
- After you’ve chosen them all, press “Y” and then choose “Yes”
Pokemon Home
- Select “Ready”
- Pick “Display”
- This brings up a key code called a Moving Key, which you’ll enter into Pokemon Bank.
Pokemon Bank Again
- Within three minutes of getting your Moving Key, enter it back in Pokemon Bank
After this, the move will take place. Once the move is done, you can choose how you want to arrange your boxes and Pokemon in Pokemon Home.
Pokemon Red Blue And Yellow Plus Pokemon Gold Silver And Crystal
Starting right from the beginning with Gen 1 , Pokemon captured in any of these games can be transferred forward a generation to Gen 2 . Unfortunately, this can only be done with the Virtual Console versions of these games on Nintendo 3DS. Pokemon on these games on the Game Boy versions can only be traded with each other, and not onto Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald and onwards.
Boot up the game via Virtual Console on Nintendo 3DS and make sure that all of your Pokemon that you want to transfer are in Box 1 of your PC, with no other Pokemon in that box.
Now you need to open up both Pokemon Bank and Poke Transporter if you don’t have them both already then you can download them from the Nintendo 3DS eShop. Make sure you have an active subscription to Pokemon Bank otherwise this whole process won’t be possible.
Open Poke Transporter, choose the Pokemon game you want to transfer from, then select Box 1 with all the Pokemon inside that you want to transfer. This will transfer the Pokemon from that game to Pokemon Bank via Poke Transporter. Transfer From Previous Pokemon Games Using The 3ds Pokemon Bank To Pokemon Home
This is a bit more involved than other steps in the process, due to the nature of having to handle and operate a 3DS.
But, if there are some Pokemon from pasts games that youd like to show off to friends more conveniently, Pokemon Bank may be a tool to consider.
In order to do this, youll need to have Pokemon Home on the Nintendo Switch and pony up for the premium version of the app. These can be purchased from in the app on either a monthly or year-long basis. Once thats done, youre ready to receive Pokemon to Pokemon Home from the 3DS Pokemon Bank.
On the 3DS, open Pokemon Bank, make sure it is up-to-date, and then select Move Pokemon to Pokemon HOME.
After this, go back to the Switch, select Move and then select Begin Move in order to generate a moving code for the transfer to be completed. This can also be done without a 3DS, as long as the player has their Nintendo account linked properly.

Unfortunately, no. The Pokémon you first caught two decades ago are forever trapped on those original Game Boy cartridges or on Pokémon Stadium. Of course, using various shady tactics and compromised hardware, enterprising Poké Trainers have been known to dump their original saves from the Game Boy carts, upload them to the 3DS Virtual Console versions of Pokémon Red and Blue, and then move those to Pokémon Bank, but we shall not delve into those dark arts here.
No, it seems that ‘Stinkypoo’ the Pikachu, ‘Wormy’ the Weedle and ‘Metapoo’ the Metapod will die on our Game Boy carts along with the battery. Probably for the best, to be honest.
