Capitalize On Its Unpredictability

Tyranitar’s plethora of builds and role options make it a difficult Pokemon to predict, which is why it’s often used as a lead Pokemon.

Leading with Tyranitar and capitalizing on its unpredictability can give you the edge over your opponent in the early game and make battle conditions more favorable for your team!

How Good Was Tyranitar Actually

Overall, Tyranitar is an excellent choice to add to your roster in Pokémon Go. Its not going to be a broken Pokémon like a shadow Machamp, Garchomp, a shadow Gyarados, or an Excadrill with mud shot. Still, its extremely reliable in PvP and PvE for you to rank up and capture several legendary Pokémon.

Perfect Counter For Yveltal

While Yveltal is one of the stronger Legendaries in the meta, Tyranitar can not only take half damage from its STAB moves, but it can also strike back at Yveltal’s weaknesses with STAB moves of its own. Mixed with its 1.5x Special Defense boost during a sandstorm it can reduce that damage even further.

Tyranitar can also target the weaknesses of Shadow Rider Calyrex, Ho-Oh, and Lugia, making it a great choice against Legendary Pokemon.

How To Find Tyranitar In Pokmon Sword & Shield

Tyranitar returns to Pokémon Sword & Shield. Well, just Shield actually. Here is how to catch one, and what Sword players can do to get one.

Pokémon Sword & Shield is the latest game in the long-running Pokémon Series. The name is a bit deceptive, as they are technically two separate games, Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield. Each generation of Pokémon has split up the games like this, with some even having a third version. The games are basically the same but do have some variations. Certain Pokémon will only appear in one version of the game, they have different gyms, different characters, etc.

In order to complete their Pokédex, one of the Pokémon that players must catch is Tyranitar. Tyranitar is a Rock/Dark-type Pokémon and first appeared in Pokémon Gold & Silver. It is a Pokémon that has three evolutions. First is Larvitar, which is a rock/ground type Pokémon. Upon reaching level 30 it evolves into a Pupitar and then becomes a Tyranitar at level 55 as well as changing type to rock/dark.

Pokemon Shield – Where to Find Larvitar

Munchlax, like Snorlax, is located in the;Motostoke Riverbank area in the Overworld. Munchlax has a 5% spawn chance at this location in normal, sunny weather, as long as the player is level;26-28. Munchlax also spawns and can be caught during a 2-Star Raid if the player has reached level;25-30.

While Munchlax is not much more difficult to find than Snorlax, it is possible that players will find and catch Snorlax sooner. If that happens, the player can breed Snorlax with a Ditto at one of the Nurseries. Ditto is great for breeding situations because it will always transform into a Pokémon of the same species, meaning this Ditto would also turn into a Snorlax.

To ensure the egg will produce a Munchlax, players will also need to purchase Full Incense and equip Snorlax with it prior to sending it to the Nursery. Once players have an egg, they will need to walk or bike around the open world for a little while until it hatches. If the resulting;Pokémon is not Munchlax, players will need to repeat the process until Munchlax appears.

How To Catch Tyranitar In Pokmon Sword & Shield

As mentioned earlier, there are two versions of the game. Which version a player chooses to play is usually unimportant, but in this case, it does matter. Tyranitar can only be found in Pokémon Shield. Its bad news for players who only have Pokémon Sword, but there is hope. They can trade a Pokémon Shield player for a Tyranitar. Perhaps they will offer a Pokémon exclusive to Pokémon Sword in return.

For those who have Pokémon Shield, Tyranitar can be found in the Dusty Bowl, which is located within the Wild Area in any weather condition. Its earlier evolutions Larvitar and Pupitar can both be found just beyond the Lake of Outrage. To get to the area where they show up, players will need to have unlocked the bike upgrade that allows them to travel across water. The Pokémon have a small chance to show up, but they can be found if the player wanders around in the tall grass.

Whichever evolution the player goes after, an easy way to capture the wild Pokémon is . Simply throw it at the Pokémon at the beginning of battle, and it has a good chance of capturing the Pokémon outright, with no fighting required. While it is true that this may not be the most fun way to capture a Pokémon, it does ensure that players wont accidentally deal too much damage through a super effective attack or a critical hit, causing the wild Pokémon to faint and forfeiting the chance at capture.

Pokémon Sword & Shield is available now on Nintendo Switch.

QUEST TO BE THE BEST EPISODE 20 " TYRANITAR TIME" POKEMON ...

Once players find Munchlax at Motostoke Riverbank, they will need to engage it by running into it. Munchlax is weak to Fighting-type moves, so players will want to use a Fighting-type;Pokémon during the battle. It is possible that the wild Munchlax’s stats will be low enough that players can simply catch it using a higher-level ball, like the Ultra Ball.

If not, players can try to chip Munchlax’s HP down to around 1 using Fighting-type moves and then capture it.

Later, if players want to evolve Munchlax into Snorlax, they will need a very high friendship level. To achieve this, players can play with Munchlax at camp, cook curry, or offer it special Friendship-raising balls.

Pokémon Sword & Shield;is available for the Nintendo Switch.

Pokemon Strong Against Tyranitar’s Weaknesses

Tyranitar will likely be targeted by Fighting-type moves, so it is essential to have Pokemon that are strong against Fighting-type Pokemon. It is recommended to use Ghost-types as they are unaffected by these moves, or Flying-types that hit Fighting-types hard.

Pokemon
Reuniclus

Tyranitar’s role in this team is that of a Lead Dynamax user. Thanks to its increased bulk in Dynamax and boosted Special Defense in Sandstorm, it can survive a super effective move and get the boost from Weakness Policy.

Nihilego is a great partner for Tyranitar as it can threaten Tyranitar’s Grass and Water-type counters with Sludge Wave and Thunderbolt respectively.

Nihilego also benefits from Tyranitar’s Max Darkness since this move lowers the opposing team’s Special Defense.

Reuniclus is this team’s Defensive Pivot. Its great Defense and Psychic typing gives it resistances to Fighting-type moves that Tyranitar is weak to.

Reuniclus’ Magic Guard ability also gives it immunity to Sandstorm’s residual damage, allowing it to comfortably switch in between its teammates.

How To Evolve It

Even though the Pokedex states that Larvitar evolves after consuming an entire mountain, you won’t need to accomplish this with yours for it to change.

To evolve your Larvitar into a Pupitar, simply train it until level 30. Then, once it’s a Pupitar,;it’ll evolve again into Tyranitar at level 55.

This seems like an extremely high level to train a Pokemon to, but Pupitar’s evolution level is surprisingly lower than other pseudo-Legendaries, like Hydreigon, who evolves from Zweilous at the record-breaking level 64.

This is coupled with a fearsome base 134 Attack stat which solidifies Tyranitars status as one of the most bulky attackers in the game. Tyranitar’s great mixed bulk and boosted special defense in Sandstorm make it one of the better Weakness Policy users in the metagame.

This build works best as a Lead, using Dynamax to boost Tyranitar’s natural bulk even further and fire off powerful Max Moves that support the team and weaken the opposition.

About Tyranitar’s Moves

Stone Edge is Tyranitar’s strongest STAB move thanks to its increased chance to deal a critical hit. Crunch is its secondary STAB and hits Psychic and Ghost-types hard, and can KO frailer sweepers.

Ice Punch is its main coverage move and is Tyranitar’s only way to deal with Ground, Dragon, and Grass-types that can easily switch in and counter it. Earthquake is its last coverage move and synergizes well with Stone Edge.

About Tyranitar’s EV Spread

We’re using a modified EV spread to maximize Tyranitar’s natural bulk without losing too much offensive power.

252 HP EVs and 76 Def EVs allow it to survive an Earthquake from Landorus, while 20 Sp.Def EVs let it survive a Hydro Pump from Wash Rotom.

148 Atk EVs let it hit as hard as possible with its attacks, while the remaining 12 Spd EVs let it outrun defensive Pokemon and slower attackers with no speed investment.
