Pokmon Type Effectiveness And Weakness Chart
Our type chart presents the 18 Pokémon types in attack and defence scenarios. To use it, simply find your Pokémons type to see what its attacks are strong and weak against, and what it is resistant and vulnerable to when defending.

- If a type is not listed, damage is neutral
- The strength of an attack is increased if the attack type is strong against both types of a dual type Pokémon
- Type resistance and vulnerability effectively cancel each other out on dual type Pokémon

Note that attack and defence type relationships are not identical e.g. types may be resistant to types when defending that they are not super effective against when attacking.
Remember, things get even more interesting when Pokémon of dual types crop up and you have to factor in additional strengths and weaknesses.
Pokmon Go Type Chart Explained

Once you know the basic strengths and weaknesses of the different types, you’ll easily triumph against any Pokémon type you come across in battle.
Every Pokémon belongs to at least one Type and will be strong or weak against other types. No Concept Of Immunities/no Effect
Every attack in Pokémon GO damages an opposing monster in the mainline games, a small number of type matchups actually result in no damage i.e. immunity, usually with the message X has no effect. These matchups are:
- Normal and Fighting immune to Ghost
- Flying immune to Ground
- Ghost immune to Normal and Fighting
- Fairy immune to Dragon
These special cases still exist in Pokémon GO, however, they do around a third normal damagerather than doing no damage at all. In our type chart, these type immunities are bolded and placed in square brackets. REMEMBER – in the mainline games like Pokémon Sword and Shield, these attacks will have no effect whatsoever!
Pokemon Go: Strong Pokemon And Moves To Take Down Flying
Whether taking on Flying-type Pokemon in Battle League or one of Pokemon GO’s many gym raids, sticking to Electric-, Rock- and Ice-type Pokemon and moves is often the formula for success. Some Pokemon succeed at this better than others, and the player Pokemon’s stats and CP come into the mix as well. Omitting these factors for a moment, a list of excellent all-around counters to Flying-types include:

Pokmon Go Types Strengths And Weakness
Pokémon also has its own set of weaknesses and strengths. For example, bug-type Pokémon are weak against fire-, flying-, and rock-type moves. Bug-type moves are strong against dark-, grass-, and psychic-type moves. Fire-, flying-, and rock-type moves will do double damage against a bug-type, like Caterpie.
Some Pokémon have two types, which means they can have a doubled weakness or have their strength and weaknesses cancel out to just take normal damage. Rayquaza, a dragon- and flying-type, takes four times the damage from ice-type moves. On the flip side, Shuckle, a rock- and bug-type, takes normal damage from fire-type moves, since rock-type is strong against fire-type.
Strengths and weaknesses also arent necessarily just opposites of each other. Though fire-type move deal less damage to water-type Pokémon and water-type moves do doubled damage against fire-type Pokémon, this isnt the case with every type. For example, fighting-type moves are strong against normal-types, but normal-types just do regular damage against fighting-types, rather than do reduced damage.
Knowing what Pokémons strengths and weaknesses are is an important aspect of raiding and battling. To do the most damage you can, you should make sure that your Pokémons moves are strong against what its battling.
Memorizing all of that can get confusing, so heres a chart to help you out.

Flying Type Pokemon
Pokémon of this type can fly, many also live in altitude. Most of them are birds and insects. Its power is mainly related to aerial and wind attacks. Many of them have wings, but some float without wings, like Rayquaza and Gyarados.
The flight was combined with any other type of Pokémon to create a species The introduction of Fighting / Flying Hawlucha has completed all possible combinations. Until generation V, no species was ever of the Pure Flying type Porygon, Kecleon and Arceus could only do pure flight typing in combat, each with distinctive moves or abilities.
Famous flying Pokémon coaches include Falkner, the first sports center manager in the Johto region Winona, the sixth Hoenn Gym chef Skyla, the sixth leader of the Unova gymnasium and Kahili, member of Alola Elite Four.
Tips On How To Remember Pokmon Types
For anyone who has invested years of play into this series, the type system becomes second nature. While in time your memory too will retain most of, if not the full set of relationships it is worth learning the logical relationships that do exist.
The classic example taught at the beginning of every Pokémon game is that fire is super effective against grass, which is in turn super effective against water, which is in turn super effective against fire. This is easy enough to follow fire burns grass, grass thrives with water, water puts out fire but finding similar relationships in the other 18 types is will help you remember the system.
Here are some other ideas to get you started:
- Rocks effectiveness against flying is reminiscent of the phrase kill two birds with one stone
- Similarly, psychic is effective against fighting because brains are better than brawn but psychic is vulnerable to dark and ghost because the mind cannot cope with the unknown and supernatural
- Ground types are immune to electric attacks because being grounded is an important principle in electric circuits but ground can be swept away be water, cracked by ice and exploited by grass.
With the addition of new types over the years, the Pokémon type system has got a little more complicated than Rock-Paper-Scissors, but once you’ve committed the above to memory , you’ll have no problem finding the right Pokémon for the right job.

But, how can trainers counter them?
The majority of Flying-type Pokemon currently available in Pokemon GO share their type with other elements such as Fire-, Dragon, Dark, or Normal-type. The rare exception in this case is Tornadus, a pure Flying-type legendary Pokemon.
Speaking in pure terms without accounting for dual-type resistances, Flying-type Pokemon are weak to Electric-, Ice- and Rock-type moves. Although a Pokemon’s second elemental type can shake things up in that regard, most Flying-types are susceptible to these three elements.
What’s Good Against Flying Pokemon
Battling against flying Pokemon can be tricky because they almost always have a second typing which complicates their weaknesses and resistances. Common pairings are normal, bug and dragon typing.
Flying type Pokemon as a whole rank #1 in terms of speed when compared to other types, but the rest of their stats are relatively average. Expect them to move first and try using a Pokemon that can sponge their attack and fire back!

Type chart, effectiveness and weakness explained in Pokémon Go
|Poison, Ground, Rock, Ghost, Steel|

Secondly, what type is immune to fighting? It is the only type that deals super effective damage against Normal. Ghost’s immunity to Fighting can be nullified by Foresight or Odor Sleuth. Most Fighting–type Pokémon can learn Rock-type moves to check Bug-types and Flying–types.
Also to know, what is dark Pokemon good against?
What type is good against normal?
There is no type that Normal is super effective against. At the same time, Normal has no resistances, but does have one immunity. The only type that Ice resists is Ice itself. Ground and Fighting have the most types that they are super effective against, with 5.
What Is Weak To What
If you’re here, you probably don’t know the type weaknesses and resistances. Also, maybe you don’t know that when a pokmon uses an attack of its type, like if an elecrtic pokmon uses an electric attack, the damage is multiplied by 1.5. Well, here are the types:
Normal is a plain type. Some people say it’s useless, but others say it’s great. I’d say Normal type pokmon are good, many of them have good status and they have only one weakness, Fighting, and are competely immune to Ghost, although they resist no other type. Normal type attacks, however, are not as good. No type is weak to them, but Ghost is immune to Normal and Rock and Steel resist it. But Normal attacks can be the solution to your problems anyway, as most pokmon can learn Normal attacks and many of them are strong. The Normal type is a physical type, so all Normal attacks are counted as physical attacks.
Fire is a “hot” type. Fire is a powerful type that should be on every team. Scizor and Forretress, both very common in teams, are only weak to Fire. Fire is super effective on Bug, Steel, Grass and Ice and is not very effective on Fire, Water, Rock and Dragon. No type is immune to Fire. Water, Rock and Ground are super effective on Fire pokmon and Fire, Grass, Bug, Ice and Steel are not very effective on them. The Fire type is a special type, so all Fire attacks are counted as special attacks.
