Tyranitar’s great mixed bulk and boosted special defense in Sandstorm make it one of the better Weakness Policy users in the metagame.
This build works best as a Lead, using Dynamax to boost Tyranitar’s natural bulk even further and fire off powerful Max Moves that support the team and weaken the opposition.
About Tyranitar’s Moves
Ice Punch is its main coverage move and is Tyranitar’s only way to deal with Ground, Dragon, and Grass-types that can easily switch in and counter it. Earthquake is its last coverage move and synergizes well with Stone Edge.
About Tyranitar’s EV Spread
We’re using a modified EV spread to maximize Tyranitar’s natural bulk without losing too much offensive power.
148 Atk EVs let it hit as hard as possible with its attacks, while the remaining 12 Spd EVs let it outrun defensive Pokemon and slower attackers with no speed investment.

How To Catch Tyranitar In Pokmon Sword & Shield
As mentioned earlier, there are two versions of the game. Which version a player chooses to play is usually unimportant, but in this case, it does matter. Tyranitar can only be found in Pokémon Shield. Its bad news for players who only have Pokémon Sword, but there is hope. They can trade a Pokémon Shield player for a Tyranitar. Perhaps they will offer a Pokémon exclusive to Pokémon Sword in return.
For those who have Pokémon Shield, Tyranitar can be found in the Dusty Bowl, which is located within the Wild Area in any weather condition. Its earlier evolutions Larvitar and Pupitar can both be found just beyond the Lake of Outrage. To get to the area where they show up, players will need to have unlocked the bike upgrade that allows them to travel across water. The Pokémon have a small chance to show up, but they can be found if the player wanders around in the tall grass.
Whichever evolution the player goes after, an easy way to capture the wild Pokémon is . Simply throw it at the Pokémon at the beginning of battle, and it has a good chance of capturing the Pokémon outright, with no fighting required. While it is true that this may not be the most fun way to capture a Pokémon, it does ensure that players wont accidentally deal too much damage through a super effective attack or a critical hit, causing the wild Pokémon to faint and forfeiting the chance at capture.
Pokémon Sword & Shield is available now on Nintendo Switch.
What Is The Biggest Weakness Of Tyranitar In Pokemon Go
As is typical in any Pokemon title, including Pokemon Go, precisely how strong a Pokemon is and what moves it uses may vary depending on the individual, but there are a few things that remain consistent across all versions of it.
As is true with many other Pokemon, the easiest thing to exploit to defeat a Tyranitar is its type.
Tyranitar is a Rock/Dark Dual-Type, meaning it has a long list of strengths, resistances and even a big weakness or two.
Tyranitar actually has so many different interactions due to its dual-Type nature that Im going to bring in some lists to make it easier to keep track for this one.
So, to summarise: Tyranitar resists a lot of different types, but in particular you must avoid taking Psychic-Types against it, or youre in for a bad time.
Meanwhile, Tyranitars weakness list in Pokemon Go looks comparably long.
So it would seem that the best approach to defeating a Tyranitar is to absolutely avoid using Psychic-Types, and prioritise using as much Fighting-Type as possible, as Tyranitars main weakness in Pokemon Go is the Fighting-Type, which will deal 256% damage per attack.

Tyranitar is a tier 4 boss that evolves from the Rock and Ground type Pokemon Pupitar which costs 100 candy. It is considered as one of the best dark attackers in Pokemon GO and is especially useful during Mewtwo raids. Tyranitar is a Rock and Dark type Pokemon. This combination makes it resistant to Dark, Fire, Flying, Ghost, Normal, Poison, and Psychic.
How To Get Tyranitar In Pokemon Go
In order to get Tyranitar normally, players will have to evolve it up from Larvitar. It will require 25 Larvitar candies in order to evolve into Pupitar, which will then require 100 more Tyranitar candies in order to evolve into Tyranitar. To make this process faster, the usage of Pinap Berries, Rare Candies, and Buddy Pokemon are highly recommended.
Being a fully evolved Pokemon in a three-stage evolutionary line, there are quite a lot of moves that Tyranitar can learn. Before deciding on a moveset, it is highly recommended to pay the Stardust and candy price in Tyranitar’s profile menu in order to unlock the ability to use a second charge move.

A Weather Setter For Sand Teams
Unlike other Sandstorm setters like Hippowdon and Gigalith, Tyranitar isn’t restricted to just setting up weather for its team. It can also soften the opposing team with its powerful STAB moves, as well as threaten opposing weather setters with favorable type match-ups.
Balanced Sandstorm Team
Assault Vest Tyranitar fills the role of a bulky weather that can still hit hard with its STAB and coverage moves.
Thanks to its held item and the Sandstorm boost, this Tyranitar has an effective 100% Special Defense boost, allowing it to survive super effective Water-type moves from Rain teams!
Excadrill is the best partner for Tyranitar. Its Sand Rush Ability doubles its Speed stat during Sandstorm, allowing it to setup Swords Dance quickly and unleash powerful STAB attacks against the opposing team.
Gastrodon is the team’s defensive pivot, filling the role of mixed wall. Its Storm Drain Ability gives it immunity to Water-type moves and also boosts its Special Attack by 1 stage.

How To Find Tyranitar In Pokmon Sword & Shield
Tyranitar returns to Pokémon Sword & Shield. Well, just Shield actually. Here is how to catch one, and what Sword players can do to get one.
Pokémon Sword & Shield is the latest game in the long-running Pokémon Series. The name is a bit deceptive, as they are technically two separate games, Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield. Each generation of Pokémon has split up the games like this, with some even having a third version. The games are basically the same but do have some variations. Certain Pokémon will only appear in one version of the game, they have different gyms, different characters, etc.
In order to complete their Pokédex, one of the Pokémon that players must catch is Tyranitar. Tyranitar is a Rock/Dark-type Pokémon and first appeared in Pokémon Gold & Silver. It is a Pokémon that has three evolutions. First is Larvitar, which is a rock/ground type Pokémon. Upon reaching level 30 it evolves into a Pupitar and then becomes a Tyranitar at level 55 as well as changing type to rock/dark.

Who Is The God Of Pokemon
Arceus has the ability to create Legendary Pokémon as well. It is said that it designed Dialga, Palkia and Giratina, as well as Pokémons lake guardians Uxie, Azelf, and Mesprit. It can also recreate various Pokémon from either trio if one ever becomes unable to fulfill its duties to the Pokémon world.
Best Moveset For Tyranitar In Pokemon Go
There are three different fast moves that Tyranitar can learn. These moves are Bite, Iron Tail, and Smack Down. While Bite and Iron Tail can be learned normally, Smack Down can only be taught to Tyranitar via certain events or by using an Elite Fast TM. This is very worth it though, as Smack Down is the best fast move that this Pokemon can learn at this time, as it provides high damage and high energy toward charge moves.
Tyranitar has a lot more options when it comes to charge moves. This is why it is recommended to open up the second charge move slot. It has the choice between Stone Edge, Fire Blast, Crunch, Frustration, and Return. With these all in consideration, Stone Edge and Crunch are the best picks as both give out great damage and play toward Tyranitar’s same type attack bonus.
In short, the recommended moveset for Tyranitar is:
Fast Move – Smack Down
First Charge Move – Stone Edge
Second Charge Move – Crunch
As previously stated, Tyranitar’s type advantages and weaknesses are very important in battle due to the high number on both sides. For weaknesses, Tyranitar is vulnerable to damage from Fighting, Fairy, Ground, Bug, Steel, Water, and Grass-type moves. It meanwhile also resists damage from Dark, Normal, Poison, Ghost, Flying, Fire, and Psychic-type moves.

Where To Find It
Unfortunately for anyone who bought Sword rather than Shield, they won’t be able to find Tyranitar or any of its pre-evolutions in the game, but they can go online and try their luck with randomized Max Raid battles through other people’s games. In;Pokemon Shield, players can find one roaming around Dusty Bowl, though it is possible to obtain a Larvitar fairly early instead. In Giant’s Set, in the Raid Den hiding behind the large stone pillar, players can find Larvitar inside rare beam dens once two and three-star Raids are available.
Capitalize On Its Unpredictability
Tyranitar’s plethora of builds and role options make it a difficult Pokemon to predict, which is why it’s often used as a lead Pokemon.
Leading with Tyranitar and capitalizing on its unpredictability can give you the edge over your opponent in the early game and make battle conditions more favorable for your team!

In The Pokmon Adventures Manga
Prior to the events of Volume 8, Silver received a Pupitar from Lance. He evolved into Tyranitar prior to Silver’s showdown with Gold in Tyranitar War. Silver remarked that Tyranitar’s level was so high that “even I can’t control it”, likely referencing the tendency for traded Pokémon to disobey. Silver eventually returned Tyranitar to Lance, deeming himself still unsuitable to own him.

Tyranitar Weakness Pokemon Go
Currently, Pokemon GO is deep into an event, crossing over with another Pokemon title, New Pokemon Snap.
The event sees a bunch of Pokemon appear more frequently that are likely found in Snap as well as a bunch of new raid bosses.
One of the most popular raid bosses that are part of this event is Tyranitar, who returns to raids for the first time in a little while.

Perfect Counter For Yveltal
While Yveltal is one of the stronger Legendaries in the meta, Tyranitar can not only take half damage from its STAB moves, but it can also strike back at Yveltal’s weaknesses with STAB moves of its own. Mixed with its 1.5x Special Defense boost during a sandstorm it can reduce that damage even further.
Tyranitar can also target the weaknesses of Shadow Rider Calyrex, Ho-Oh, and Lugia, making it a great choice against Legendary Pokemon.

Is There Anything Else To Know About Tyranitar In Pokemon Go
Thats pretty much it as far as Tyranitar goes. Pick a Fighting-Type with as much firepower as you can and just pummel down on it. There are other counter-Types available, but fighting has both double damage and little to no issue with any of the moves Tyranitar can use, making it the ideal choice on basically all fronts.
