What Is The Original Pokemon Show

Ruby And Saphire Series

Pokémon Original Series Anime Review

Ah, Ruby & Saphire. I have a love/hate relationship with this series in Pokemon.

I did really like that in this series, they started to change up Ashs companions a bit. While I did like Misty, its always nice for a change of heart and to have them do their own dreams instead of following Ash around for so long. The Pokemon in Generation 3 as well are great and classics for a reason.

But the main reason I put this series at number 4 is that while I do like that they started to make changes to Ashs companions, I cant get behind Max. May is fantastic. I loved her story and her character overall, but Max sort of just felt like a mini-Brock, and while its cute to have someone trying to follow in your footsteps, it almost felt too closely related to the already iconic character. They could have done more with him for sure. Other than that, the Hoenn region is amazing, and the battles are awesome. Its certainly one of the better series.

Clefairy Building A Spaceship

  • Episode: 62

Not every memorable episode is doom and gloom. In episode 62, you will find a lot of interesting facts about the Clefairy out, including the fact that they are able to build and repair spaceships. In fact, the episode even reveals that Jigglypuff is likely another alien Pokemon type.

While the Clefairy doesn’t complete their ship, the anime shows that they do continue their efforts to return to their homeworld.

The Top Twenty Original Pokmon Episodes

became a sensation almost overnight, with many children who grew up on the series continuing to follow Ash’s adventures well into their adulthood and its exuberant twentieth season: this year’s Pokémon

While I have consumed a ton of the Pokémon anime, I’m afraid that I’m not at that level of superfan myself. I stopped watching the show for good around the end of Master Quest over 250 episodes in and rounding my 13th birthday, I lost interest right before Hoenn and wouldn’t come back to Pokémon until X& Y a full decade later. Honestly, my fondness for the anime is tied so firmly to the incredibly goofy and nostalgic English cast that I can’t imagine trying to watch the show without those voices. So if you’re looking for a comprehensive list of the best Pokémon, I wouldn’t be the right man for the job.

Still, as the Pokémon anime reaches its platinum anniversary, I thought it would be fun to go back to where it all began and spotlight twenty of the best episodes from its very first season, the Indigo League that I originally grew up on. Revisiting the show as an adult, I was amazed at how well ye olde Pokémon’s classic ’90s look and personality, back when the franchise had fewer corporate restraints on its style and more bizarre and downright anachronistic little touches were allowed to leak into the world of Pokémon.

Holo Gold Star Rayquaza: $4500

Rather than many cards on this list, this Shiny Rayquaza from the EX Deoxys set is a rare Pokemon card thats mostly just mythical pull from a standard set. During this expansion, Pokemon with a Gold Star in your deck, making them just as powerful as they are gorgeous with unique colors and art exiting the frame.

Costs can vary massively, but spaces like Troll and Toad price the card at just under $4500. It simply combines all the great aspects of a standard card in the perfect combination, and the rarity of it in packs of this small expansion set make it one of the most valuable original Gen 3 cards, and one of the first major shiny cards to hit record prices before other shinies would catch up.

Pokmon Firered And Leafgreen

The Pokémon franchise was growing without any stopping indications, but there were still people who hadnt experienced vanilla gameplay. The first titles were still in good shape, but they started to look slightly outdated.

Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen came to the rescue, however, as practically a remake of the first Pokémon games for the Nintendo Game Boy Advance.

The Song Of Jigglypuff

Pokémon Original Series Anime Review

As a kid, I often wondered why Jigglypuff had so quickly become the secondary mascot for Pokémon after Pikachu, getting a spot in Super Smash Bros., sitting next to Pikachu in so much key art, etc. I know I’d never used a Jigglypuff in most of my game playthroughs, and neither had most of my friends. Of course, rewatching the show as an adult makes it clear: Jigglypuff is easily the best part of any given Pokémon episode she appears in, and her debut episode is among the best. She’s so sincere and yet so petty. She’s so cute and yet so cruel. You feel so bad for her failed dreams of stardom and yet it’s so rewarding to see her get angry. I mean, how would you feel if your dream was to become an international pop sensation, but everyone who listened to your voice instantly fell asleep? How long does poor Jigglypuff spend writing all her songs, only for no one to appreciate the second verse? I’d probably doodle on everybody’s faces too! Combine her hilarious woe with a bizarre version of Las Vegas where no one can stop gambling long enough to get a damn nap in, and you’ve got the first of many great adventures starring this pissed-off puff.

Holographic Shadowless Charizard: $500000

There are a lot of factors that make the Holographic Shadowless First Edition Charizard card worth so much compared to any other Charizard card. Firstly, it’s a first edition version of the undoubtedly most popular Kanto starter, which already makes it extra valuable to most pokemon fans. Alongside this, the card is also shadowless, which essentially means the card lacks a shadow between the box containing the image of the Pokemon, and the rest of the card.

This “Shadowless” effect is not a misprint or a mistake. It’s actually the original Pokemon card design, as the foiling process has changed and provided a different look to modern holographic and foil cards. These Charizard cards have become one of the prime reasons for the Pokemon Card trend of the past two years, with YouTuber Logan Paul opening one as recently as February 2021 that was estimated by auction site owner Ken Goldin to sell for upwards of $500,000.

The Pokemon Anime Had A Super Dark Finale In Mind Once

It is always difficult saying goodbye to something you love, but fans of the Pokemon anime haven’t had to do that just yet. After more than 1,000 episodes, the show is thriving thanks to its most recent series Pokemon Journeys. But back in the day, the original writer behind the Pokemon anime was not sure if the show would survive so Takeshi Shudo formed an idea. He came up with a finale that could end Pokemon for good, and thanks to Dr. Lava, new translations of Shudo’s blog are letting fans in on his radical idea.

“I would have used the story that I had planned for the final anime episode. The Pokemon would stage a rebellion much like Spartacus in ancient Rome. Although at first glance Pokemon appear to be friends with humans, they would realize they’re actually being used like slaves, which would lead to an uprising. Pikachu would become the leader of the revolt and end up fighting with Ash. Team Rocket, who are in possession of lots of sinister Pokemon would try to mediate the conflict, but they’d do a poor job of interpreting and only make things worse,” Shudo said.

Looking at this description, it is hard to believe. Not only did Shudo expect to pit Ash against Pikachu, but the entire structure of Pokemon training would fall apart. Shudo went on to say he tried to come up with a different finale that could absolutely end Pokemon, but it wasn’t possible.

Pokémon, also known as Pokémon the Series to Western audiences since the year 2013, is an anime television series based on the Pokémon video game series. It was originally broadcast on TV Tokyo in 1997. More than 1,000 episodes of the anime has been produced and aired, divided into 7 series in Japan and 22 seasons internationally. It is one of the longest currently running anime series.

The anime follows the quest of the main character, Ash Ketchum , a Pokémon Master in training, as he and a small group of friends travel around the world of Pokémon along with their Pokémon partners.

Various children’s books, collectively known as Pokémon Junior, are also based on the anime.

Tentacool And Tentacruel Or Dig Those Diglett

In the interest of making the list as diverse as possible, I had to put these two episodes together in a tie for 14th place, because they’re basically the same story with two oddly different tones. So, how do you like your ecological message tales? Big and loud and ridiculous and stupid? Or sweet and cute and nonviolent and heartwarming? Either way you choose, you can’t go wrong, as pollution makes Tentacruel grow to a horrifying size and decimate a city in one episode, while Digletts galore practice civil disobedience to plant their gorgeous gardens in another. On the one hand, you have tanks and explosions and squids sending a psychic warning of apocalyptic destruction. On the other hand, Diglett and Dugtrio make the most musical and adorable little noises ever, and it’s disgustingly precious how they politely return every Pokeball thrown to try and stop their planet-friendly crusade. Big or small, these two very different episodes are fine Earth Day entertainment!

Holographic Shadowless Blastoise: $2475

The Complete Pokemon Anime Timeline! | Part 1: The Original Series (Kanto, Orange Isles, & Johto)

Out of the three final-evolution Kanto starters, it’s Blastoise who has the least valuable Shadowless holographic card, reaching heights of $2475 on Pokemon Prices. We say “least valuable”, but that’s still a lot of money for just the one card, and its hardly far behind its sibling Venusaur.

That’s if Blastoise is still in mint condition, of course, which is a big ask considering these cards are over 20 years old. Carrying the powerful Water-type move Hydro Pump, this version of Blastoise was a pretty impressive card to carry in your deck back in the day, but at this point its still a solid collectible card.

Tropical Mega Battle: $10000

In the late 1990s and early 2000s, an annual Pokemon Trading Card Game tournament was held in Honolulu, Hawaii. At this 1999 event, just 12 of these Tropical Mega Battle cards were produced to be distributed to some of the lucky 50 players who attended the event, meaning the remaining number of mint copies is especially low all these years later.

Showing a Psyduck having a nap in a hammock on a tropical island, this legendary Trainer Card sells for a whole lot of cash thanks to its rarity. In fact, according to the Telegraph, a mint-condition version of the card once sold for $10,000, making it a prime example of how valuable Pokemon TCG prize cards can eventually be.

Ash Doesn’t Steal Misty’s Bike

The scene in which Ash and Pikachu run from a flock Spearow cuts out the part where Ash steals Misty’s bike in an attempt to escape from the furious Pokémon. Apart from this, the scene plays out the same way that the original one does.

Ash tries to protect Pikachu by telling it to go into its Pokéball, but Pikachu jumps in front of Ash to shock the Spearow before they can attack, making the two of them become closer. Although Misty is absent, at least her bike doesn’t get destroyed.
