Pokemon That Follow You Around

How to get Pokémon to follow you in Pokémon Sword and Shields Isle of Armor expansion

In Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, 1 of the Pokemon in your party will be able to walk alongside you as you traverse the entire overworld. This feature was only available in HeartGold and Soul Silver, the Let’s Go! games, and with Pikachu only in Pokemon Yellow.

Other games made Walking Pokemon available in certain areas, such as Amity Square in the original Diamond and Pearl games.

How To Upgrade The Master Dojo

The Master Dojo has a whole bunch of upgrades you can earn via spending Watts, but you will need to spend a lot of Watts getting all of the upgrades

Luckily the Isle of Armor has plenty of hotspots where you can earn extra Watts, and you can easily earn 10k at a time. That sounds like a lot, but you will need 200k before you get all of the upgrades.

The upgrades turn the Dojo into a nice hub area where you can do absolutely everything all in one place. Not a bad idea at all, especially if you’ve been stocking up on Watts since launch.

How To Get A Pokemon To Follow You

Make Pokemon Follow You In Pokemon Sword And Shield

As mentioned before, players will need to complete a few challenges before they can have Pokemon follow them. Players will need to complete the island’s first three challenges and will need to defeat their new rival in battle in a battle to gain this ability.

The first two trials are fetch-quests that have players exploring the island in search of different items. The first has players battling three fast Slowpoke and retrieving a piece of clothing from each one. The second trial has the player searching for Max Mushrooms and leading up to a battle against either Avery or Klara depending on which game the player has. And the third trial is a battle an even more intense battle against the player’s new rival.

After the player wins the final battle they will be rewarded with the new legendary Pokemon, Kubfu. Master Mustard will then inform the player that they can now have a Pokemon follow them while they travel around the Isle of Armor. Now, the first Pokemon in the player’s party will follow them by default. In order to switch which Pokemon follows the trainer, all they need to do is switch which Pokemon is in the first slot of the player’s team. This function cannot be turned off, but can only be used while on the Isle of Armor, and presumably the Crown Tundra.

Pokemon Sword & Shield are available now on Nintendo Switch.

Its Only In The New Area

Pokemon Sword and Shields Isle of Armor expansion is out today, and it ushers in a few new features for this particular generation.

In what is probably the most superfluous addition, you can now walk side-by-side with your lead Pokemon while out and about. Heres how to enable it and manage it.

Shortly after entering the new area, youll come across the dojo, which serves as the main hub for the zone. Youll pretty much do everything here, from advancing questlines to changing outfits, to feeding Pokemon soup that allows them to shift into Gigantamax forms .

After advancing the questline youll unlock the ability to have your lead Pokemon follow you, a feature that fans have been wanting for some time in Sword and Shield. Theres a catch of course: its only enabled in the new Isle of Armor zone for now.

If for whatever reason you dont want this feature on or accidentally disabled it and forgot how to get it back, just head into the dojo. Walk to the left room and talk to the NPC with the Pikachu outfit on: you can easily toggle it there.

The gesture is nice, but its a little wonky: creatures will often teleport if you leave them in the dust and go too fast. Still, its a start, and I hope that the next expansion has it intact. In fact, Game Freak should just add it to the rest of the game.

Example Of How The Damage Calculation In Pokemon Unite Works

In order to fully understand how Defense and Special Defense works, it would be useful to take a look at a direct example of how the Damage Calculation would work in a live battle. Using the formula mentioned above and combining it with some specific Defense and incoming damage numbers should help even the less mathematical minds to wrap their brain around these mechanics.

All that needs to be included in the base Damage Calculation is the Defense stat of the example defender as well as subtracting a value of 1 . This would lead to an inverse number which will represent the Percentage of Damage Reduced, which can be used to identify how much HP one will lose.

In this example, a level 10 Blastoise will be used as the defender while a wild Audino will be used as an attacker whose attacks would deal 200 flat base damage to a pokemon with 0 Defense. The damage would be calculated to find the Percentage of Damage Reduced as follows:

    • – 1 = -1.35
    • -1.35 = 35% = Percentage of Damage Reduced

Taking the Percentage of Damage Reduced, players can use it to gauge how much HP would be lost. In this case, since 35% of the 200 incoming damage is being blocked , the defending Blastoise would lose 130 HP, as that is the remaining 65% of the 200 incoming damage not blocked by the Percentage of Damage Reduced.

Pokemon Unite is available on Nintendo Switch, Android, and iOS.

A Fan Favorite Feature Returns Yet Again

While the Pokemon games really blew up on their own, the Pokemon anime also played a big part in the series popularity. Following the adventures of Ash and friends, he always had Pikachu by his side outside of his Poke Ball. This idea was eventually brought over into the games with entries like Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver, but it hasnt been something that has really been around much over the years, even though it has been long requested by fans. The Isle of Armor expansion for Pokemon Sword and Shield implemented this exclusively within the expansion and now it is back again with the just released The Crown Tundra Expansion.
