Build A Balanced Team
To effectively face the many Trainers throughout the Galarregion and their many Pokémonyou’re going to need a well-balanced team ofPokémon partners. You may love Fire-type Pokémon, but having an entire team ofthem is going to get you in trouble when you battle against a Trainer that usesWater- or Ground-type Pokémon. The key is to form a team with a wide range ofPokémon and with moves that will prepare you for anything.
One of the early choices you’ll have to make in PokémonSword and Pokémon Shield is which Pokémon will become your firstpartner Pokémonthe Grass-type Grookey, the Fire-type Scorbunny, or theWater-type Sobble. Go with your personal preference, of course, but use thatchoice as a basis for assembling the rest of your active team. Luckily, you’llencounter a nice variety of wild Pokémon early in the adventure. It’s not toodifficult to quickly form a team with a solid range of skills.
Keep in mind that the first Gym you’ll face focuses onGrass-type Pokémon. That means you’ll have the advantage if your team is fullof Fire-, Ice-, Poison-, Flying-, or Bug-type Pokémon. You’ll have plenty ofopportunities to build a team of those before reaching the Gym, too. Forexample, if you don’t choose Scorbunny as your first partner Pokémon, you’llhave a good chance early on to encounter other Fire-type Pokémonsuch as Vulpix or Growlithe before reaching the first Gym. Chances are also very high that you’ll comeacross other useful Pokémon along the way.

How To Make Pokmon Sword And Shield More Difficult
Pokémon Sword and Shield are great games in our eyes and in the eyes of many others but theres no hiding from the fact that the level of difficulty is, shall we say, a little on the accessible side. Thats great if youre just looking to have a fun adventure, but for some people, a little strife can make things even sweeter.
So here are a few ways you can make the games harder for yourself through self-imposed rules, whether youre a series veteran looking for greater oomph, you want to start a new playthrough after already becoming champion, or youve just heard whispers that its too easy and want something more engaging.
In ascending order of difficulty:
Explore The Wild Area
The vast, open Wild Area in Pokémon Sword and PokémonShield presents a lot for players to do. Not surprisingly, there are plentyof wild Pokémon to battle and catch. While these Pokémon can regularly be foundin tall grass , occasionally you’ll see larger Pokémon roaming theWild Area. These Pokémon are typically more powerful and can prove daunting todefeat. If you decide to take them on, prepare for a challengeand be ready toretreat if necessary. You may need to use a Poké Doll, which allows you toimmediately flee a battle with a wild Pokémon.
The Wild Area is also home to Pokémon Dens, which look likecircles of stones on the ground. Sometimes, they’ll have beams of light shining out of them. How Do You Connect With Friends In Max Raid Battles
If there’s one thing that Sword & Shield managed to do better than most anything else, it’s the sheer number of ways that fans are able to play the generation eight titles with one another. Aside from battling each other, the Max Raid battles allow for a more cooperative means of utilizing multiplayer in the series that is also great for getting large amounts of XP and rare items.
One aspect of this game mode that some players have struggled with is connecting with their friends online since the friend mechanic in Sword & Shield isn’t as deep as in previous games in the series. Thankfully, the process to connect with friends is fairly simple, as you just have to press the + button in the main Max Raid menu to set a password, then other players can connect with you by setting the same password so long as all party’s internet settings are turned on. If players are trying to connect locally, the process is a little different and simply requires one person to select the Invite Other Players option with their internet settings turned off, then other players can join their Raid through the Y-Comm menu.
Create Several Saved Games
Pokemon Sword and Shield only allow you to have one savegame, but there is a little trick that allows us to create a second or multiple savegames. This detour also leads us to the system settings of the switch:
- go to the system settings
- then select the menu item User
- then go to add a user
This will create a fresh profile for you, with which you can create another saved game in sword and shield without having to permanently delete your other profile.
The disadvantage is, of course, that your statistics, friends lists and Nintendo Switch Online membership will not be transferred to a new profile.

Can You Have Multiple Saves
The save data for every game on the Switch is linked to the particular user profile the game is opened under, meaning if players create a new user profile, they can start a new game without losing the progress they have already made. This is a very easy way for players who don’t have many people to trade with to obtain all three starter;Pokemon, as well as getting multiples of one-off;Pokemon like the cover legendaries and Eternatus. Players can also transfer between different save files by using;Pokemon Home, as it is linked to that particular game rather than the user profile.
