Pokmon Go: Alola To Alola Special Research Tasks

HOW TO CATCH SHINY DITTO IN POKEMON GO! New Kanto Tour Special Research Details!

The Alola to Alola Pokémon Go event features its own set of Special Research Tasks and Rewards. There are four branching paths to choose from.

There’s a new Special Research available in Pokémon Go for trainers to clear. Currently, the Alola to Alola event is active, spawning tons of Pokémon from Sun and Moon into the game more frequently. There are also a solid handful of challenges to clear, offering rewards upon their completion. Although, this Special Research will need to be unlocked first. It will only be available once the player has cleared the other four Alola-themed quests from the season, centered around the four islands from Alola. Trainers have until Wednesday, June 1st, to clear out those other missions to unlock this quest for free. Otherwise, the player will need to purchase it from the shop for $4.99.

The Alola to Alola event in Pokémon Go will be active from Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. to Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at 8:00 p.m. local time. While most extra bonuses like more Alola spawns will be cut off after the event is over, the Special Research will remain in the game until the trainer clears it. Like all Special Research in Pokémon Go, this one acts to add more exposition to the world and Professor Willow’s research. However, the thing that makes this one so interesting is that it acts as a choose-your-own-adventure game.

Level 43 and 45 Special Research Pokemon GO

The Pokémon Go Fest 2022 special research quest is part of Go Fest 2022 in Pokémon Go and offers you the chance to add Land Forme Shaymin to your Pokédex.

Pokémon Go Fest 2022 is also a branching quest, with three different paths for you to choose from. You also have to select which difficulty level you wish the quest to be and, for both of these reasons, its a good idea to know which Choose Path choice is best for you.

With Land Forme Shaymins initial release being part of Go Fest 2022, unlocking this questline requires you to have purchased a ticket for the event. Land Forme Shaymin will, however, most likely be made available to every Pokémon Go player via a new special research quest in a similar manner to past mythical Pokémon, like Meloetta, Victini and Celebi.

Additionally, the ‘Rhi’s Arrival’ special research is available to everyone during Go Fest 2022 Day 2, and ‘A Radiant World’ for ticket-holders who complete the Rhi’s Arrival quest during the second day of the special event.

On this page:

  • Catch – Catching different species of Pokémon and conducting different types of throws
  • Explore – Hatching eggs, completing field research tasks, walking specific distances and activities with your buddy Pokémon

When it comes to choosing the best path for you, we recommend thinking about which activities you prefer in Pokémon and which rewards you like best.

What Is The Best Island Path In Pokemon Gos Alola To Alola Research

While each path has good rewards, our pick for the best one would be Akala Island. This is because of the 2 Incubators and a Super Incubator offered as part of the rewards.

Players may also be tempted by the Ulaula island path too. However, we wouldnt suggest choosing this path as the recent Pokemon GO incense nerf made them worthless.

And those are all of the different Special Research paths for Alola to Alola. Good luck completing them and earning all of the rare Pokemon GO items!

Everything Else You Need To Know About Research Quests In Pokmon Go

Though the quest features are well explained in the game, there’s some nuance that will help you get the most out of each objective you undertake.

  • Completing one of the Special Research objectives will not add a daily stamp to your Research Breakthrough progress – it must be from a Field Research quest instead.
  • You can cancel and complete as many Field Research quests as you want per day.
  • It’s possible to have multiple of the same Field Quest at once, and complete them all at the same time.
  • Pokémon encounters from Research quests always feature Level 15 Pokémon, with the 66 per cent to 100 per cent IV spreads you also find in Raid or Egg encounters, and are unaffected by the weather.
  • Certain Special Research quests will be automatically completed if you complete their requirements since they are impossible to ‘repeat’, such as reaching a certain Trainer or medal level.

On this page:

Field research tasks and rewards change every month, but now there are plenty of additions to that monthly cycle, with many special events and limited features getting their own Research quests as well.

What Are Special Research Quests

Special Research quests, meanwhile, are story-based questlines with unique rewards. Unlike Field Research quests, these are fixed objectives that every player will face, and appear in the game infrequently.

The first available is ‘A Mythical Discovery‘, with the arrival of the game’s first Mythical creature – Mew – as the end reward.

Our A Mythical Discovery explains the eight steps required to unlock Mew, which includes finding specific Pokémon, participating in Raid and Gym battles, and reaching a certain Trainer level.

The arrival of Gen 2’s Celebi suggests this is how other Mythicals – such as, we assume, Gen 3’s Jirachi – will be released in the game, but as we’ve now seen with Spiritomb they won’t always be restricted to Mythical Pokémon only.
