The Mythical Jirachi has made its debut in PoGo here’s what you need to do to catch it.
Pokemon Go‘s Ultra Bonuses have come and gone, and they brought a ton of exciting rewards to the hit Pokemon mobile game. Not only did Niantic introduce the first wave of Gen 5 Pokemon to the title, the Mythical Pokemon Jirachi has also officially made its debut in Go as part of a new Special Research questline called “A Thousand-Year Slumber.”
To catch the Mythical Pokemon, you’ll first need to complete a variety of Research tasks. There are seven sets of tasks in total, and many of them revolve around Pokemon that hail from the Hoenn region. A few of the quests, however, will require you to do some battling, so you’ll need to put in a lot of work to complete the entire line. Once you’ve cleared all of the Special Research tasks, you’ll earn the chance to capture Jirachi.

This questline was previously available at this year’s Pokemon Go Fests if you completed it while at one of those events, then you’ll earn extra Jirachi Candies instead. There are a few different ways to obtain Legendary Pokemon in Pokemon GO. Not all of them are found using the same method, however. Read on to find out all the ways to capture your Legendary Pokemon in Pokemon GO, including catching them from quests and Team Go Rocket.
There’s An Easier Way To Evolve Feebas For Pokmon Go’s ‘thousand Year Slumber’ Jirachi Quest

If you boot up Pokémon GO right now, you’ll get some special research. A Thousand Year Slumber is a new quest for you to complete, and at the end of the line you’ll be able to get your hands on Jirachi, the mythical creature that had previously. A lot of the quest is pretty straightforward, but there’s one task in step 2 that might cause people some trouble. Luckily, it’s about to get a lot easier to evolve a Feebas.
Feebas is likely to be a sticking point for most people. The ragged-looking little fish is very rare outside of events, and plenty of people that missed those events might be awfully short on the 100 candy required to evolve it. If you’re trying to manage that with the little fish as your buddy, that’s going to take you a minimum of 500 kilometers, minus whatever you got from catching it to begin with. That’s a whole lot to ask out of anyone, and would likely mean you’d be working on this thing for months if you’re not using rare candy or other bonuses.
So if you were busily making a spreadsheet about just how you were going to cover the several hundred kilometers required to evolve Feebas, just wait until tomorrow, August 23, and you should have a much simpler time of it.
There’s no way to get around the 20km you have to walk with your fishy friend, but that’s much more manageable than 500.

How To Get Shiny Legendaries
Shiny Pokemon only occur a small percentage out of many of the same species. This rule applies to Legendary Pokemon as well. Youre not guaranteed to get a Shiny Legendary Pokemon if you encounter one. The chances of getting a Shiny Legendary are one in 20 Pokemon.
That might sound reasonable, as its a 5% chance. However, not all Legendaries have Shiny forms released. Some of the Legendary Pokemon that have Shiny forms are:
- Mewtwo
- Rayquaza
- Raikou
Many more are available as well. With luck, perhaps your next Legendary catch will be a Shiny Pokemon. Their distinctive forms are easy to identify, making it all the more essential to catch them.
How Jirachi Quest A Thousand
Research Quests, which allow you to complete objectives for rewards, were introduced into Pokémon Go in March 2018.
There are two types of Research Quests Field Research and Special Research. Unlike Field Research tasks, which include a range of challenges and can be completed whenever a player likes, Special Research tasks are the same for every player and have a set, story driven, order.
A Thousand-Year Slumber is the fourth in Pokémon Gos series of Special Research quest lines dedicated to Mythical Pokémon. The previous three being for Mew, Celebi and Meltan.
Just how these previous quest lines brought you to a mythical Pokémon, A Thousand-Year Slumber sees you assisting Professor Willow in his investigation into one of the Mythical Pokémon from the Hoenn region Jirachi.
The quest is broken down into seven steps, which each consist of three individual challenges. Youll be rewarded for every individual challenge and overall step you complete. Eventually, once you have completed all the steps, youll be given the opportunity to catch Jirachi.
There is no restriction on when you can complete A Thousand-Year Slumber, so visit the Research tab to start waking Jirachi up.

What If I Caught A Jirachi At Gofest
Though A Thousand-Year Slumber will be most peoples first chance at grabbing a Jirachi in Pokémon GO, it was actually first available for attendees at the 2019 GOFest events in Chicago, Dortmund and Yokohama.
If you were lucky enough to complete the five-step questline unique to these events, you may be wondering whether its worth completing A Thousand-Year Slumber: well, in addition to all the regular rewards above youll get more Jirachi candy . Of course, the real reward will be all the new friends that youll once again have to make along the way.

How To Catch Legendaries From Team Go Rocket

Thousand Year Slumber Pokemon Go Quest Rewards And Friend Codes Update
New Pokemon Go rewards can be unlocked this week, including a big Jirachi Reward for those who can make it to the end of the Quest.
The mythical Pokemon Jirachi is the main reward from The Thousand Year Slumber Quest, but there are others.
Pokemon Go players can complete up to seven stages of the new Quest, each providing something new to earn.
If you make it to the end, you unlock an encounter with Jirachi but some of these Research Tasks are harder than others.
First of all, some of it includes adding new Friends Codes to your list, which can be difficult.
Most players can use Reddit or Twitter to find new people to add to their Friends List, but its still a Questline that can stump some Trainers.
Heres the opening the Quest Line for A Thousand Year Slumber Stage One:
Nice to see you again! Im excited to get started on our next big adventure. What do we need to do? Well, Ive come across something amazing, and I need your help. Were going to focus our efforts on Pokemon originally discovered in the Hoenn region because I have some leads on a Pokemon Ive never seen before!
First, we need to get some baseline research to help track this Pokemon. Can you explore the area? Who knowsyou might make some friends along the way.
The things Trainers should know is that Stage 7 has yet to be unlocked by Players yet, meaning we dont know the tasks yet.
This is due to a Stage 6 Research Task that includes spinning PokeStops for Seven consecutive days.

Jirachi Stats & Competitive Use Pokemon Go Guide
Although surprisingly strong in the main games, mythical Pokemon rarely served a purpose in Pokemon GO prior to the PVP update. According to GamePress, its signature charge move, Doom Desire, got a slight PVP nerf before release. It now requires another fast attack to activate this staggeringly strong move. Its still a great PVP choice, but this slight change was enough to make it lose ground against a few more picks than before. Its almost mandatory to use both your PVP shields to really get the most out of it.
Like the last two mythical Pokemon, Jirachi cant be used to defend gyms.
In raids, Jirachi will fit a similar role to Metagross a Pokemon many players will have in abundance thanks to its Community Day earlier this year due to its identical typing and similar stats. This means Jirachi wont really stand out to those with a full team of Meteor Mash Metagross at their disposal. However, it can still serve a great general pick in most raids due to its high stats and relatively rare type combination.
Jirachi will help newcomers put up a fight in most raids, but veterans will likely already have better picks that are easier to max out!

Gliding through Step 1 of A Thousand Year Slumber is an easy process since theres not much to do in here. Catching 25 Pokemon would hardly take a day even if you live in a rural area, so theres nothing to worry about that. The same thing can be said about spinning Pokestops and Gyms which is a part of regular routine in game. What might bother some trainer is adding 3 Friends now if you are facing some difficulties, you can easily exchange your Trainer Code with people on Pokemon Go official page.
Overall, this seems like a little warmup set of tasks to initiate things for players on their way to get Jirachi.

Unlike the first step, the second step seems to require a bit of luck and quite a lot of patience. Here, catching Whismur seems to be a bigger challenge than getting Gold Medal for Hoenn Pokedex. At the same time while youre searching for Whismur, you will have to make Feebas your Buddy and walk 20km so as to evolve it into Milotic.

A Thousand Year Slumber Quest
Jirachi is unobtainable by any other means, and therefore to get one for yourself, you have to finish the A Thousand Year Slumber Quest. Whether you are new to Pokemon Go, or are on the mission to complete your Pokedex, you have to burn through these seven stages of A Thousand-year Slumber. So, here are all the steps and guides you need to know to complete this Quest quickly and get yourself Jirachi.

Once you complete Jirachi research, the Pokémon will appear, and youll have unlimited tries to catch it. You must catch the Jirachi with AR mode on, unfortunately, but keep slinging balls and youll nab it eventually.
Jirachi isnt a great raider, but after catching it, there will be only one more Hoenn Pokémon unreleased in the game: Kecleon.

Strategy: Look around urban environments for Whismur. Theyre usually pretty common, and youll want to keep one for the next step.
As for Feebas, youre going to need to walk one for 20 KM and use 100 candy to evolve it. The upcoming Water Festival will make this a breeze, but after that, youll likely need to burn Rare Candy. The Hoenn medal might be a struggle if you dont already have it. Theres no real way to speed that up.

Hij is dus vooral speciaal door zijn zeldzaamheid, niet vanwege zijn sterkte. Dat deze Mythical Pokémon niet beschikbaar is via Trade in Pokémon Go, maakt hem uiteraard des te zeldzamer.
Jirachi’s design werd geïnspireerd door tanzaku in Japan. Dat zijn de papieren waar mensen hun wensen opschrijven en vervolgens vastknopen aan een paal bij een tempel. Ze doen dit vooral op een feestdag genaamd Tanabata. De turquooise papiertjes op het hoofd van Jirachi zijn een verwijzing naar de tanzaku, en Jirachi kon je ook vele jaren lang enkel krijgen op Tanabata.
Er zijn nog meer Mythical Pokémon op komst, aangezien elke generatie wel zijn eigen Mythicap Pokémon heeft. Gen 4 Pokémon hebben inmiddels hun opkomst gemaakt in Pokémon Go, dus we mogen verwachten dat Manaphy, Phione, Darkrai, Shaymin en Arceus ook hun opwachting zullen maken.
