How To Get Shiny Charm
Complete the Pokedex
In order for you to get the Shiny Charm, you will need to complete your Pokedex. This means, capturing all 400 Pokemon, and recording them to the Pokedex!
Talk to the Director in Circhester
Once you’ve completed your Pokedex, head to Circhester. Enter the hotel to the left of the fountain, and find the director inside one of the rooms in the hotel. Once he confirms you’ve completed your Pokedex, he will give you the Shiny Charm.
How To Breed Shiny Pokmon
Breeding a Shiny is a little bit different. A lot of people will use the Masuda Method, which was named after Game Freaks Junichi Masuda. Masuda was the director who added the feature to the game. How To Shiny Chain In Pokemon Sword And Shield
So while encountering 500 of the same Pokemon will increase the odds of you finding a shiny, that isn’t the same as shiny chaining. If you encounter and then defeat or catch up to 25 of the same Pokemon species in a row, the odds of finding a shiny are increased even further. If you stumble into one that isn’t the same species, make sure you run away and don’t catch it or let it faint, because your chain will be reset.
Once you hit a chain of 25, that’s the maximum you can shiny chain in Sword and Shield. Combine all three methods and your odds of encountering a shiny will increase drastically, from the base 1/4096 to 1/455.

How Does The Masuda Method Work
The main condition that must be met in order for increased shiny odds to occur is that both Pokemon must be from a game of a different language, such as English and Japanese. A Pokemon’s game origins can be identified by a three-letter language tag in their summary, such as “ITA” for Italian. If there is no tag, then the Pokemon comes from the player’s own language.
The specific shiny odds for the Masuda method vary between generations:
- In Generation IV, the regular odds of 1/8192 are multiplied by 5, resulting in 1/1638 or 0.061% chance.
- In Generation V, the regular odds of 1/8192 are multiplied by 6, resulting in 1/1365 or 0.073% chance.
- In Generation VI and onwards, the regular odds were increased to 1/4096, which multiplied by 6 results in 1/683 or 0.146% chance.

Yes, shiny parents are more likely to produce shiny offspring in generatation 2. The chance is 1/64 in any of the following cases:
- Both parents are shiny
- One parent is a shiny Ditto
- One parent is shiny, the other is not Ditto, and the child is the opposite sex of the shiny parent
This is due to the way stats are passed down. IVs, which are responsible for shininess, are partially inherited from the Ditto parent if a Ditto is involved, or from the opposite parent if not, i.e. a male baby will inherit based on its mother’s IVs.
Since a shiny pokemon has, by definition, the correct IVs to be shiny, inheriting those stats increases the chance of being shiny.

On paper, for every shiny encounter in the game, it has a 1/16 chance of being a square shiny instead of the standard. You’ll be able to tell whether it’s standard or square by the intro animation the usual stars will be replaced by square outlines, but the difference in colour palette is still the same. Switch Off These Settings
Breeding Pokemon and hatching eggs for hours or days can be a pain and can quickly get boring. You can turn off the following settings to make collecting eggs faster instead of having to manually press buttons to cancel prompted screens.

While there are Pokémon useful in the daycare, there are also Pokémon useful outside of the daycare, too. Most notably, Pokémon with either the ability Flame Body or Steam Engine are at the top of the list. Having a Pokémon with either of these abilities in your party causes all Eggs in your party to have their Egg cycles cut in half. Hatching Eggs twice as fast is, as you can imagine, very convenient when you have lots of Eggs to hatch. Keep in mind that this effect does not stack having four Pokémon with Flame Body and/or Steam Engine in your party will still only halve Egg cycles once, not four times.
Beyond useful Pokémon, there are also useful items to consider to ease along the breeding process. No matter which Pokémon you choose to keep in your party to accelerate Egg hatch times, it is optimal to have the front of your party holding a Smoke Ball. It’s possible that cycling in circles could lead you into a wild encounter, and being able to flee no matter what is always handy.
