POKEMON GO – HOW TO GET SPECIAL EVOLUTION ITEMS! (METAL COAT, KING’S ROCK, DRAGON SCALE, ETC)

The owners of Pokémon Scyther and Onix will definitely be on the hunt for the Metal Coat to evolve them.

In both the main series and the Pokémon GO games, Metal Coat is required to evolve Scyther to Scizor and Onix to Steelix. However, Trainers will not need to trade them to complete the evolution process in Pokémon GO.

Metal Coat is typically one of the rarest items to find, hidden deep in caves like Iron Island in Generation IV or New Mawile in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.

How The New Evolution Items Work In ‘pokmon Go’

Evolution got a bit more complicated in Pokémon GO last night. Originally it was a pretty straightforward affair: you got candy for catching, walking and transferring Pokémon, which you then used to turn your Squirtles into Wartortles, your Bellsprouts into Weepinbells and so on. For the most part, that’s still how it works after the big Gen 2 update, except for a few noteworthy exceptions. Certain Pokémon now require either a steel coat, a sun stone, a king’s rock, a dragon scale or an upgrade to evolve, and these items are all random drops from Pokéstops. Let’s break them down:

  • The metal coat transforms Onix into Steelix or Scyther into Scizor.
  • The king’s rock transforms Slowpoke into Slowking or Poliwhirl into Politoed.
  • The dragon’s scale transforms Seadra into Kingdra.
  • The sun stone transforms Gloom into Bellossom or Sunkern into Sunflora.
  • The upgrade transforms Porygon into Porygon2.

Note that in many of these instances the items are used for branching evolution: you’ll still be able to evolve Slowpoke into Slowbro using plain old candy, but you’ll need the king’s rock as well as the candy to get yourself a Slowking. This will slow down some people that had been stockpiling candy for the purpose of filling out their Pokédex as quickly as possible: I’ve got plenty of Onix candy but still no metal coat to snag my Steelix.

The Latest Update For Pokemon Go Adds Evolution Stones To The Game Like The Metal Coat Here Is How To Find The Metal Coat And Which Pokemon Can Evolve With It

Pokemon Go Metal Coat: How to evolve Scyther and Onix ...

With the latest update for Pokemon GO, Niantic has bucked its trend of releasing small, incremental updates for the game since its launch last summer. The latest update for Pokemon GO not only adds over 80 new Pokemon to the game, but it also features a number of new items for players to collect as well, including evolution stones like the Metal Coat.

For those that aren’t familiar with the ins and outs of Pokemon lore, evolution stones are used to evolve certain Pokemon to their next form. While there are still Pokemon that can evolve with the tried-and-true method of sending Pokemon to the professor in exchange for candy, specific Pokemon can only evolve with evolution stones.

How To Get Metal Coat In Pokemon Go

You can find Metal Coat in Pokemon Go at any PokeStop, as you would find eggs. Urban areas are your best bet for Metal Coat. Also remember that every seventh day your PokeStop Daily Bonus streak should cough up one of five Special Items: either a King’s Rock, Metal Coat, Upgrade, Dragon Scale or Sunstone.

How To Get And Use The Metal Coat In Pokemon Go

In Pokemon GO, the Metal Coat item operates similarly to how it does in the main Pokemon series, evolving certain Pokemon into Steel-type evolutionary forms.

Introduced in Generation II of Pokemon with Pokemon Silver, Gold, and Crystal, Metal Coat has been a fixture in the franchise ever since. At the moment, the only Pokemon that benefit from this particular item in Pokemon GO is Scyther and Onix, who have evolved into Scizor and Steelix, respectively. Considering that these Pokemon are both significant evolutions, Metal Coats are worth pursuing and using.

What Are The Chances Of Finding A Metal Coat In Pokemon Go

The answer is that it’s much harder to get the Metal Coat in Pokemon GO than it is in almost every other game where it’s available. The only method at the moment of getting a Metal Coat is getting lucky by spinning PokeStops, but this method only has a 1% success rate.

People online have determined that it usually takes about 250 spins before a trainer finds a Metal Coat. While this may seem like a very tedious task, trainers who want to excel at Pokemon GO should want to spin PokeStops on a daily basis.

The rewards that come from spinning PokeStops add up over time, including the XP gain. Trainers who are already spinning every day will be hoping to have a Metal Coat somewhere in their items tab.

Looking for a Metal Coat may be frustrating, but worth some effort since both Scizor and Steelix can be useful in Pokemon GO. In Scizors case, it isnt the strongest option, but it can be a great Pokemon to throw on a gym defense team.

Being part Bug-type and part Steel-type, Scizor is only weak to Fire. It also resists many common types like Fairy and Psychic. It also could compete well in the Great League due to its typing and bulk.

Steelix is useful simply due to the fact that 272 is one of the highest Defense stats in the game. 148 Attack isnt that impressive, but Steelix gets access to really nice charge moves. Earthquake is always guaranteed to do damage, and moves like Heavy Slam and Crunch offer nice coverage.

Where Do I Get The Metal Coat

One of the easiest ways to get the Metal Coat is to stop by the Pokestops places where the Pokemon trainers have an opportunity to get free artifacts. You have to spin a Pokestop to get a probability to earn them. However, its a pretty rare occurrence to receive an item after one attempt only 1%, but there are still the odds to get it.

You boost that probability to 50% once youll have spinned over 250 Pokestops. Frequent visits to Pokestops may get you the artifact on the seventh day as a prize of sorts.;

The other way to receive the Metal Coat is to participate in the Go Battle League competition. If you try different strategies, you might get fortunate eventually!
