Which Pokemon Version Should You Pick

When players think about the differences between Pokemon games released simultaneously one major difference between them comes to mind: version-exclusive Pokemon.

Pokemon games are notorious for their vast array of version-exclusive Pokemon, forcing players to either trade for various Pokemon or get every version of a game to claim these exclusive creatures. But for players not willing or able to do either of these, then whatever Pokemon are in their version are simply what they get.

So, between Pokemon X and Y, what are the differences, and what are their pros and cons?

Is Pokemon Z Cancelled

There are few real reasons that Pokémon Z would have been cancelled, the main two being the rush to get the Nintendo Switch to launch, and Pokémons 20th birthday. There were rumors that Nintendo were in financial problems, however unlikely that is, and that affected Pokémon Zs development as well.

Sweeping Ability: Pokmon X

The two Pokémon may be essentially equal in terms of raw strength, but theres one area in which Xerneas seems to win out quite handily: the ability to cut a vengeful-Godzilla-in-a-big-city path of destruction and sweep an enemy team.

If you played much competitive Pokémon in the Gen VI days, youll surely have fallen foul of the Power Herb and Geomancy set. The crux of it is that Xerneas uses Geomancy , immediately gets the boost thanks to the Power Herb, then obliterates its opponents into sad little flecks of failure and disappointment. The excellent neutral coverage of Fairy moves made this far too easy to pull off.

Which Is Better? Mega Charizard X Or Y

I chose x mainly cuz of charizard x and mewtwo x. I don’t play competitively I just play for fun so I choose which one is cooler to me because I’ll have more fun with that one and I don’t need the best possible stats for all my pokemon. I understand y is probably better for competitive play. Tyranitar exclusive to y made me think about my purchase but I ended up getting one on wonder trade for my bagon either way so I’m happy with y. Surprisingly I actually like xerneas too. No hate to yveltal though,he’s really cool.

How Pokemon X And Y Ushered In The 3d Era

The launch of the 3DS provided Pokémon X and Y with a real chance to shine. Let’s look back at the highs and lows…

This article comes from Den of Geek UK.

It may have only been six years ago, but it feels long ago. Pokemon X and Ywere the first installments in the RPG franchise to launch on the 3DS, with Nintendos 3D-enabled handheld console having arrived on the market in 2011. The handhelds ability to flick between a standard 2D display and battery-eating 3D visuals meant that X and Y could present pocket monsters in a more detailed and multifaceted way than ever before. These games really embraced the third dimension, and the resultant visuals set such a high bar that many of todays Pokémon sprites look an awful lot like these 2013 versions.

The games were set in the Kalos region, which was based on France, meaning that players got to experience their first Pokémon adventure that had a distinctly European feel . The French influence meant that Kalos was crammed with castles, and also played host to the most visually impressive Pokémon location yet: Lumiose City, which was an adaptation of Paris complete with its own Eiffel Tower equivalent . Put simply, Kalos was the most visually stunning region that the franchise had produced at this point.

Pokemon X And Y Guide: Which Game To Buy Beginners Tips What To Do Where To Go

Need some help with Pokemon X and Y? Here’s what you need to know to get up and running quickly. Where to begin, what to do, where to go. super training – and what you can create with mega evolutions!

Articleby Jaz Rignall, Contributor

Pokemon X and Y are finally here. Whether you’re a dyed-in-the-wool Pokefan or a newcomer hoping to discover what all the fuss is about, almost everyone could use a little advice on how to tackle these deceptively complex role-playing games. Which starter should you pick? How does Mega Evolution work? And what the heck is an Effort Value, anyway? Here’s what you need to know to get up and running – and we’ve tried to make this relatively spoiler-free, so not to ruin too many surprises.

Should you play Pokemon X or Pokemon Y?

More than anything else, Pokemon has always been a game about choices. X and Y are no different. From your preference in starter Pokemon to move selection and team composition, this series offers a ludicrous number of options for differentiating your squad from the competition.

First of all, you’ll only be able to find the legendary stag Xerneas in Pokemon X. Likewise, the winged monstrosity Yveltal is limited to copies of Pokemon Y. Yveltal sports the Flying and Dark types, while Xerneas shows off the new Fairy type. Both are fairly lethal in their own right.

Pokemon X And Y New Features And Minigames

Pokemon X and Pokemon Y also took advantage of the 3DSs hardware to incorporate things like Sky Battles, Horde Encounters, Pokemon-Amie, Super Training, and the Player Search System. The Player Search System was just a replacement for C-Gear and used the 3DSs hardware capabilities to search for players locally and on the internet. While this allowed players to be connected and facilitated battles and trades it was not entirely unique.

Sky Battles and Horde Encounters on the other hand were unique Pokemon battles that had their limitations and requirements. Sky Battles were accessible only to certain Flying-type Pokemon and Pokemon that had the ability Levitate. They also prevented certain moves from being used. Pokemon that could participate but didnt know any appropriate moves would default to using Struggle in Sky Battles.

Horde Encounters were encounters with wild Pokemon that would have players battle against five wild Pokemon at once. Pokemon in Horde Encounters were often under-level compared to other Pokemon in the area and hordes would consist primarily of one Pokemon species. While it was possible for there to be two species of Pokemon it was always four of one species and one of another in the horde. Horde Encounters were not available everywhere but where they were they had a one in twenty chance of being initiated.

All Version Differences in Pokemon X and Y

Along with the many additions that X and Y introduced, various improvements to the communication features were also implemented. Using the Player Search System , players can encounter and keep track of various online players, including strangers, allowing them to easily initiate battles or trades. The Holo Caster allows the player to receive messages and updates from NPCs via StreetPass and SpotPass. Wonder Trade is a new trading feature which allows players to trade one of their Pokémon in exchange for a random one from another player. Other features include O-Powers, temporary powers that can increase stats and can be exchanged with other players, and improvements to the Global Trade System, allowing players to request Pokémon they have not encountered. At certain points in the game, players will be able to take in-game screenshots, which they can then share on the Pokémon Global Link website.

What Are The Differences Between Pokemon X And Y

At the moment, the key differences between Pokemon X and Y are legendaries and mega evolutions. Pokemon X features the stag-like Xerneas, which is a pure Fairy-type Pokemon. Pokemon Y, meanwhile, stars the Dark/Flying-type Yvelta. Pokemon X is home to Clauncher, which evolves into a rather generic mono Water-type.

Fairy Type Pokemon And Mega Evolution

Every generation of Pokemon games introduces its changes and niche mechanics but Pokemon X and Y had a fundamental impact on the series. Fairy-type Pokemon were added to the franchise when 37 Fairy-type Pokemon were introduced in Gen 6, the first type addition since Gen 2s Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver added Steel and Dark types. The Fairy type was added as a counter to Dragon-type Pokemon who up until the release of Gen 6 were only weak to Dragon-type and Ice-type moves. The addition of Fairy Pokemon also brought a new Eeveelution in the form of Sylveon. This is the only Eeveelution so far that debuted solo instead of in a group of two or more like previous Eeveelutions.

Gen 6 also featured the first Fairy-type Gym Leader and made major changes to Normal-type Pokemon. This was done when 22 Normal-type Pokemon had their type changed to Fairy. This was major as it suddenly made almost two dozen Pokemon viable for different battle situations as they had STAB on Fairy-type moves and were immune to Dragon-Type moves.

Pokemon X and Y also introduced Mega Evolutions. These evolutions were used in the heat of battle for certain Pokemon in the game. If players had obtained the Key Stone and the Pokemon they were using was capable of Mega Evolution and held their respective Mega Stone that Pokemon could Mega Evolve.

The following 28 Pokemon received Mega Evolutions in Pokemon X and Y:

  • Venusaur
  • Lucario
  • Abomasnow

At the moment, the key differences betweenPokemon X and Y are legendaries and mega evolutions.Pokemon X features the stag-like Xerneas, which is a pureFairy-type Pokemon. Much more interesting is Skrelp, exclusive to Pokemon Y, which has the potential to become amuch more unique Dragon/Poison-type.

Also to know is, which is better Charizard X or Y?

Well, Mega Charizard Y has the same typing asregular Charizard, but it gains the Drought ability, whichboosts the power of its Fire-type attacks. On the other hand, MegaCharizard X is a Fire/Dragon-type and gains the ability ofTough Claws, so it can power up its Dragon Claw. I personallychoose X over Y.

Subsequently, question is, what is the Y Pokemon? Similar to previous Pokémon games, X andY both follow a linear storyline whose main events occur ina fixed order. The protagonist of Pokémon X andY is a child who had just moved to a small town calledVaniville Town with their mother.

Simply so, what are the version exclusive Pokemon in X and Y?

Is Pokemon Black And White 2 Better Than The First

Black and White 2 has more and better Pokémon from the get-go, and the story quickly becomes a distant memory once the Elite 4 are finished. Better to cut to the chase and get to the good stuff early. One thing I really like about Black and White 2 over the original games is the new post-game content.

Pokemon X And Y Impact On The Series

Pokemon X and Pokemon Y might not make up many fans favorite generation of Pokemon games but their importance in the franchise cannot be understated. Many firsts happened in Gen 6 that set the stage for what the games are like today. The launch into 3D provided customization options and upgraded graphics. Mega Evolution has led into Galars Dynamax and Gigantimax mechanics, while different approaches to transportation have allowed Pokemon to shed the need for HM moves. While it might not be the most beloved generation Gen 6 could turn out to be the most important for the franchises future.

Pokemon X and Pokemon Y are available now for the Nintendo 3DS.

Lets not get too wrapped up in the competitive aspects of the game, though. Not everybody is about that life, after all. For many players , the only important factor that goes into a Legendary being great is this one: how darn scary is it?

If thats the criteria were looking at, Yveltal is definitely the winner. Xerneas is the goodly Life Pokémon, while Yveltal is classified as the Destruction Pokémon. Just look at its Pokédex entries: When this legendary Pokémon’s wings and tail feathers spread wide and glow red, it absorbs the life force of living creatures,Pokémon X reports. Pokémon Y, clearly not thinking Yveltal was terrifying enough already, adds, when its life comes to an end, it absorbs the life energy of every living thing and turns into a cocoon once more.

Other Notable Pokemon And Verdict

There are a solid number of version differences of Pokemon from previous generations, so this section will give a brief run-down of the ones that stand out.

Pokemon X gets Aggron, while Pokemon Y gets Tyranitar. This is not a very close comparison at all, with Tyranitar- a pseudo-Legendary Pokemon, notably being a far better option than a mediocre Steel and Rock-type Pokemon.

Heracross, in Pokemon X, is simply a better Pokemon than Pinsir from Pokemon Y. Pinsir’s Mega Evolution is so good that it threatens to tip the scales, but Heracross’s Mega Evolution is also quite exceptional, so the atlas beetle Pokemon still ends up ahead.

Mega Charizard X And Y

Mega Charizard X excels in self-buffing, sweeping through the enemy team in one go while sustaining itself through Roost. Meanwhile, Mega Charizard Y specializes in taking advantage of its Drought ability to pierce even the most solid of enemy defenses with either a super-powered Fire Blast or a no-charge-needed Solar Beam.

However, between the two, Mega Charizard X holds a slight advantage. Its design is far cooler, and its change from being a Fire and Flying-type to being a Fire and Dragon-type is quite handy in battle.

Pokemon X And Y Version Exclusive Pokemon

More Starter Pokemon, Less Starting Pokemon: We Can Make ...

Pokemon introduced a lot with Gen 6 and like every installment in the series it made Pokemon X and Y different enough that it could be noticed but overall, they were the same. As is with its predecessors this was primarily accomplished through the Pokemon that are available in each game. This is a trend that has been seen in every generation of Pokemon and continues even into Gen 8 and its Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra expansions.

In Pokemon X and Y version exclusive Pokemon are found in a couple of different ways: Pokemon that can only be obtained in a specified version of the game or Fossil Pokemon available in a specified version. There were a few Pokemon that were version exclusive during the main story but were also obtainable in the Friend Safari regardless of which game the player had.

Pokemon exclusive to Pokemon X were:

  • Staryu and its evolution Starmie.
  • Houndour and its evolution Houndoom.
  • Aron and its evolutionary line which includes Lairon as well as Aggron.
  • Clauncher and its evolution Clawitzer.
  • Xerneas, the Legendary Pokemon and mascot for Pokemon X is exclusive to that game.

While the Pokemon exclusive to Pokemon Y were:

  • Electrike and its evolution Manectric.
  • Skrelp and its evolution Dragalge. Dragalge is also the first dual-type Poison and Dragon Pokemon.
  • Yveltal, the Legendary Pokemon and mascot for Pokemon Y is exclusive to the game.
  • Pinsir
  • Poochyena and its evolution Mightyena.
  • Sawk
  • Swirlix and its evolution Slurpuff.
