Generally, a Pokemon with higher CP will perform better in battle than one with a lower stat. There are other factors such as types, moveset, and weather bonuses that alter this paradigm, though. Nonetheless, it is a good way of determining a Pokemons strength at a base level.
This does mean that a Pokemon with a high CP can have terrible IVs and vice-versa. While high CP Pokemon dont need to be leveled up as much they can still be weak.
Conversely, a Pokemon with a low CP can have perfect IV values. As a result, its important to check a Pokemons IV using the appraisal feature Niantic introduced, or with an IV calculator such as PokeGenie if going into more detail.
The 10 Pokmon With The Highest Cp In Pokmon Go
These are the strongest species in the game.
Pokémon Go gives players the ability to find and capture their favorite Pokémon spanning over seven generations of the franchise.
With a variety of Pokémon available in the game, it can be difficult to know which species are the strongest. One factor that can provide some insight into this is the Pokémons CP.
CP stands for combat points and differs from a Pokémons stats. The CP can basically be summarized as the base stats with a hidden modifier called an IV that will dictate the Pokémons overall power in battle.
Every Pokémon will have a CP that can be increased as the Pokémon levels up, but some Pokémon naturally have a higher max CP than others.
With hundreds of different Pokémon and forms available in the game, weve narrowed this list down to the 10 species with the highest max CP.
Heat And Power Management
Once you’ve got good kit, you should look after it. Ampere is an excellent App for keeping an eye on your phones battery heat and power draw. It is Android only, this information is not available in iOS. Upon first install, we recommend going through and testing all of your cables and chargers to weed out the ones that are faulty and not delivering the power they should. Why have a cable hanging out of your phone the whole day gaming when you could have had a quality cable for half the day instead.
The power read-out in Ampere is net of what the phone is burning, so put it into flight mode, close everything and test each cable and charger you own. Every modern charger and cable should be putting out close to 1000mA and newer fast chargers rated at 2000mA and 2500mA should be hitting close to those figures as well.
A second value of Ampere is its heat readout. Keeping your phones battery at high temperatures for extended periods will cut down on its lifetime. Ampere can give you handy warnings when your temperature is creeping up too high and it might be a nice time for you and your phone to take a break in the shade. It is personal preference, but we recommend keeping the battery under 40 degrees celsius if you plan on keeping the phone for more than a year.

Hold Off On Powering Pokmon
As a general rule of thumb, hold off on powering up your Pokémon before theyre fully evolved, as evolving is a better use of your candies anyway. The vast majority of Pokémon you catch and evolve will never see battle, so save your Stardust for only the Pokémon you actually care about and whose moves youre happy with. You are also more likely to find Pokémon with higher stats as your trainer level rises, so powering them up doesnt add much value in the early stages of the game.

Why Are Ivs Important
If we only had enough candy to evolve one of the Drowzees above, it might initially seem like the one on the right is the best option . But after running them both through the IV calculator and finding out that the left one likely has better Attack, Defence and Stamina statistics, it changes the picture slightly.
Ultimately, the dream Pokémon to evolve would have a super high CP and the best IV stats — that Pokémon might not be easy to find, though.

How To Win Raids
In addition to gym battles, raids are now a big part of the;Pokémon Go battle experience, and theyre the only way to earn some of the best rewards and rarest;Pokémon in the game. Raids appear at gyms randomly throughout the day, marked by a big egg sitting on top of the gym icon on the world map. That egg will have a timer, indicating when the raid will start; when it does, itll run for one hour. During that time, you can challenge the raid like you would any gym battle, except your team of six;Pokémon will fight just one super-strong raid boss, and youll often need other players to defeat it.
Raid bosses come in a variety of difficulty levels, ranging from one to five. High-level trainers will find they can often handle a raid of anywhere between level one and level three on their own, but much higher and youll need help. Raids are designed to be massive battles with lots of trainers pitching in, and defeating a high-level raid boss can sometimes require 10 or more other players.
Defeating a raid boss is only the first step of the raid. When its done, youll earn some special rewards, like Golden Razz Berries and Rare Candies. Youll also get a chance to catch the raid boss;Pokémon thats based on your performance, which team controls the host gym, and how many teammates you had in the battle. Even with items like Golden Razz Berries, catching raid bosses is hit-and-miss, so make sure you use every trick at your disposal, including curveballs and Excellent throws.
What Is Mega Evolution
Mega Evolution is a battle mechanic introduced in the Gen VI games, Pokémon X and Pokémon Y. Closer to Dynamaxing than it is to Evolution, Mega Evolution allows a Pokémon to become much stronger for the remainder of a single battle. the resulting Mega Pokémon will look considerably different and sometimes even have a different typing. Only select species are capable of Mega Evolution and it requires a Mega Stone specific to the species of the Pokémon. For example, if you want Ampharos to Mega Evolve, you need Ampharosite, but Absol needs Absolite. On top of the Mega Stone, the Trainer also has to have a Key Stone which is kept in a Mega Ring, Mega Bracelet, Z-Ring, or Z-Power Ring.

Evolve To Raise Your Trainer Level
The nature of;Pokémon Go means youll be collecting tons of;Pokémon all the time, and not all of them will be in your slate of battle-ready fighters. How Can I Get More Exact Numbers
Checking IVs in-game only gives a vague idea of where your Pokémon lands, but by using external apps and websites, you can get a pretty specific range.
The Silph Road has an IV checker that asks you to input your trainer level and the visible stats of the Pokémon. After that, theyll let you know how strong your buddy is.
To check IVs on the go, you can use PokeGenie, an app for iOS and Android. The iOS version requires you just to take a screenshot of your Pokémon and upload it. The Android version will let you check IVs from within the app with the tap of a button.
Poke Genie works great, but there are times when there can be multiple combinations of IVs, requiring you to have your leader appraise your Pokémon and inputting what the leader says to get a more accurate reading.
Of course, this only matters so much. If your goal is to simply catch em all and treasure all of your precious new friends in Pokémon Go, the IVs dont need to be perfect. But if youre a player who likes to try to solo or duo high-tier raids, then every stat point counts. Its always wise to check those IVs before you make a big candy investment or transfer your precious mons to candy.
Take Advantage Of Berries
You can use Berries on Pokémon to make them easier to catch. Razz Berries are your go-to berry, as theyll increase the probability of a successful catch, but depending on your situation, you might want to use others. Golden Razz Berries greatly increase your chances of a successful catch. Nanab Berries will calm down feisty Pokémon, so youll have an easier chance of making a successful throw. Pinap Berries increase the number of candies you get for your catch, so theyre good if youre working on a particular evolution. Berries are a random drop from Pokéstops, a reward for increasing your trainer level and for completing field research, and can come from gifts received from people on your friends list. Use them by tapping on the;Backpack;icon when attempting to catch a Pokémon.

How To Train And Evolve Your Pokmon
Your goal may be catching one of every Pokémon, but you need to grab many Pokémon to be successful in;Pokémon Go.;The only way to power up and evolve your Pokémon is by feeding them candies and Stardust, which are collected by catching Pokémon, hatching Pokémon, making a;Pokémon your buddy and walking with it, and by transferring them to Professor Willow. You can transfer;Pokémon you dont want by highlighting them on the;Pokémon Menu Screen;and choosing the Transfer;menu option, and you can evolve;Pokémon by choosing Evolve when you select one on the;Pokémon Menu.
Evolving your Pokémon is one of the main goals of the game, but it takes effort. In order to evolve, say, an Eevee, you will need 25 Eevee candies, which only come from catching or hatching Eevees or from Pokémon that evolve from Eevee. Every Eevee you catch nets you three candies, and transferring them;grants you another per transferred Pokémon. So, for each extra Eevee you catch and transfer, you get four candies, meaning youll need to catch seven Eevees in total to evolve just one.
Different;Pokémon evolutions require different amounts of;candies. Evolving a Ghastly to Haunter, for example, only requires 25 Ghastly candies, whereas evolving a Haunter to a Gengar will require another 100 Ghastly candies. If you want to evolve a Magikarp to a;Gyarados, youll need a whopping 400 Magikarp candies.
How To Power Up A Pokmon
In addition to evolving Pokémon, you can choose to Power Up, a system that increases their CP in small bursts. Powering up your Pokémon is one of the more complex aspects of the game.
On the surface, it seems simple: Players give their;Pokémon Stardust, a currency you earn by catching Pokémon and by winning gym battles and raids, and candies to increase their numbers. Like evolving, powering up increases the HP and CP of your Pokémon, but at a slower rate.;The more you;increase a Pokémons CP, the more Stardust you will need to upgrade it.
In general, Pokémon with higher CP will beat Pokémon with lower CP in battle, but that isnt;always;the case, thanks to its underlying stats.;Instead of a;number, players get to;see the Pokémons CP potential, which shows its level on a sliding scale relative to your trainer level.
You can upgrade your Pokémon up to 150% of your current trainer level, so the CP cap a particular Pokémon can reach is measured by a white arc when you select it on the;Pokémon menu. As you power up the;Pokémon, that arc will fill toward the right side, and when its completely full, you wont be able to power up that;Pokémon any more until you increase your own overall Trainer level through experience points. Each time you power up a Pokémon, you increase its level by one half.

How To Get More Premier Balls In Pokmon Go
During the capture phase, youll be given a number of Premier Balls, which are the only means to catch the creature. The number of Premier Balls you receive depend on a number of factors, but expect between about five and a dozen to play with:
- Defeating the boss
- Raiding with Friends
Its important to note that if youre battling in a Mega Raid, the Speed Bonus will reward you with more Mega Energy rather than Premier Balls.
In short, having the Gym on your team and inflicting more damage will see you have a better chance. Its also worth remembering you can also use Berries during the encounter too, so stockpile those Golden Razz Berries they may come in handy here for the tier 5 beasts.
If you run out of Premier Balls, the boss will flee.
Originally there was also a Team Contribution element to the distribution of Premier Balls, with the Team, Mystic for example, that caused the most damage to the raid boss being rewarded with more Premier Balls. With the introduction of Mega Evolutions, however, this was replaced with the Speed Bonus.

Pay Attention To The Weather
Niantics new weather system changes which;Pokémon are likely to appear based on the days conditions, and you can find out how weather changes things by tapping the new Weather icon in the top right corner of the screen when on the World Map.;Pokémon affected by the weather will be ringed in white when you see them on the map, and youll get bonuses for catching them.

How To Find Out Approximate Cp And Iv Values Within Pokmon Go With The Appraisal Feature
Niantic originally released the Appraisal feature in 2016 in an effort to combat third-party apps. While the feature was useful, the information it gave about a Pokémons CP and IV value was rather vague. After three years, however, Niantic has revamped the feature, making it much easier to discover which of your Pokémon are the very best.
To get an Appraisal of your Pokémon, tap the menu in the bottom right corner and select Appraisal when viewing, and then your chosen Team Leader will give you the rundown.
The new Appraisal feature is divided into two stages.
In the first stage, your chosen Team Leader will comment on the size of your Pokémon, telling you how small or how bizarrely big your Pokémon is. This information doesnt factor into the prowess of battle so feel free to ignore it.
In the second stage, the Team Leader will tell you when or where you caught the Pokémon , but, more importantly, theyll show you the Pokémon stats Attack, Defence and HP.
Each stat has a bar that shows you where it ranks out of 15 on the IV scale. To help communicate this information, the stat bars are divided into three different sections:
- First section 1 to 5
- Second section 6 to 10
- Third section 11 to 15
The higher the IV stat, the better the Pokémons Attack, Defence or HP will be.
If a stat has an IV ranking of 15 the maximum possible stat then the bar will be coloured red. On the other hand, if a stat bar is completely empty, then the IV ranking for that stat is 0.
Pokmon Go Purify Calculator
There is no specific Pokémon Go purify calculator used to understand what your Pokémons CP will look like after you purify it from a Shadow form but there is a trick you can use.
Using a CP calculator like the one we used earlier for Kangaskhan, follow these steps:
- Add 2 to each of your IVs and input them
- Set your Pokémons level to 25
- Profit
Purifying a Shadow Pokémon adds two to each of your IVs and improves your Pokémons level to 25. So, adding this information to your Pokémons current stats will give you its new CP.
