To earn the right to transfer over this special Greninja, simply complete the main part of the demo! You will know you have completed it when a short trailer plays and you’re brought back to the start screen.
Head over to the Pokemon Center in the demo and speak with Professor Kukui. With a full copy of Pokemon Sun or Moon installed on your 3DS or inserted through a game cartridge, Kukui will ask if you’d like to transfer over your Greninja and any other items you collected in the demo.
Now head over to the full copy of the game and head to the nearest Pokemon Center. Inside you’ll find a man in a yellow shirt who will complete the transfer and pass along your Greninja. Do take note that you won’t be able to use Ash-Greninja in battle until you complete the first two grand trials.

Pokémon Sun and Moon Trial version becomes available by October 18, 2016. When the trial version of the Pokémon Sun and Moon game becomes available, download it from the Nintendo E-shop from the home website.

To unlock Ash-Greninja, you have to complete the main story of the demo. Here’s a complete walkthrough of what’s required.
After the opening cutscene where your receive your Ash-Greninja, leave City Hall and fight the Team Skull Grunts outside .
Once done, head north to the Pokémon Centre, where Hau will give you a Super Potion and introduction to Professor Kukui. Agree to his Trial, and head to the north of the edge of the town, and speak to the man to travel to Ten Carat Hill.
In Ten Carat Hill, battle your way through the patches of tall grass and lone trailer to the cave in the north, where Professor Kukui is waiting. He will task you with finding four Pokémon with a Poké Finder as part of a trial.
To take a picture, move to a spot where you sense the Pokémon and investigate, then move the viewpoint with either the 3DS console or Circle Pad, and take a snap with the R or A buttons at the right time. You’ll then have to defeat the Pokémon in battle.
Here are the Trial Pokémon locations:
- First Jangmo-o – Wall directly left of Professor.
- Second Jangmo-o – Head down path left of Professor, then take the fork in the road up. It’s on the upper wall just after the fork.
- First Hakamo-o – Stay on this upper path and go left, being careful not to drop down the ledge. It’s at the wall at the end.
- Totem Hakamo-o – Leave the cave in the north west and head north.
Once the battle is over, you’ll receive a Z-Ring and Z-Crystal ‘Electirum Z’ for Pikachu as a reward.

The Kanto League: Ash Is Eliminated By Forfeit
It makes perfect sense that Ashs worst Pokémon League showing would be his first attempt, way back at the Indigo League. While cracking the Top 16 on his first try is impressive, its completely undone by the sheer absurdity of his matchup against his friend, Richie. First off, Ash almost doesnt even show up to the match because of a Team Rocket encounter. By the time he arrives, his Pidgeotto is so exhausted by Team Rocket that Ash has no choice but to use Charizard for his final Pokémon.
No one was less a fan of Kanto Ash than this Charizard, and its refusal to battle against Richies Pikachu forces Ash to forfeit the match. This loss is the encapsulation of everything he did wrong during his Kanto campaign, and the experience he missed out on reflects the skill of a trainer whom his Charizard refuses to respect. Mercifully, Ash had nowhere to go but up from here, and hes certainly redeemed himself both with his unbreakable bond with Charizard and his Pokémon League victory in Alola.
