How Many Pokemon Does Ash Have
Throughout his journeys across the world of Pokémon, Ash has caught a large number of different Pokémon. He views his Pokémon as individuals, as beings, and not just as tools or weapons. His philosophy is based on a combination of trust, friendship, and hard work, all of which he uses to strengthen the bonds between him and his Pokémon.
As a matter of fact, several of his Pokémon were actually caught because they allowed him to catch them after he had befriended or helped them. He is not a snob when it comes to Pokémon, as he is willing to work with any species that comes into his care and help it reach its maximum potential. He also doesnt favor any specific type of Pokémon.
Since listing all the details about all the 96 species of Pokémon Ash caught during his journeys would be overly long, we are just going to state some specifics about the most important ones, while the others are just going to be listed.
Pokmon The Series: Sun & Moon
Ash wore a loose short-sleeved shirt with white and blue stripes, brown Capri pants with red outlines, baggy pockets and red folded sleeves at the edge, and blue sneakers. His cap was red, dark blue, and gray, and the Poké Ball design was white. Ash also kept a silver Z-Ring on his left wrist, which was later upgraded into a black Z-Power Ring. Unlike in previous regions, Ash didn’t wear fingerless gloves while he was in Alola.
As a member of the Ultra Guardians, Ash wears an indigo and white uniform with light periwinkle accents as the edge of the short sleeves, collar and inlines of his uniform are black. He wears matching indigo gloves.
In “A Young Royal Flame Ignites!“, while teaming up with Professor Kukui disguised as Masked Royal and Ash Royal, he goes shirtless but retains his capris and sneakers from his primary outfit and dons a red flame designed wrestling mask with green and light blue with blue designs at the back of his mask. The wrestling mask was given by Kukui before they teamed up together at the Battle Royal.
Ash’s sided spike hair has decreased a bit and are rounder, his eyebrows and his spike hair tuft is shorter than usually seen in previously. When he is not wearing his hat, his hair remains the same only more smoother and shorter.
Ash’s two lighting bolts-like markings are slightly bigger.
Ash Ketchum’s Other Appearances
Today we explored Ash’s best anime lineups, and he’s delved into several other media. His game counterpart Red is known for incredibly high-leveled teams, Ash is a high-challenge opponent in Pokémon Ga-Olé, and he has several manga counterparts.

How Many Pokemon Does Ash Have In The Anime
10 Ash Has A Total Number Of 96 Unique Pokémon Ash has learned a lot since the start of his Pokémon journey and while catching Pokémon isnt always his priority, hes still obtained a fair amount. Currently, Ash possesses 76 Pokémon, but 30 of those are comprised of Tauros being kept at Professor Oaks Lab.
A Rising Master: Kalos And Alola
After taking a significant step back in Unova, Ash finally starts to take competitive battles seriously. For the first time in his career, the only unevolved Pokémon on his team during the Lumiose Conference is Pikachu. Otherwise, it is stacked with powerful choices like Talonflame, Hawlucha, Noivern, Goodra and Greninja.
The only flaw in Ashs team is a slight over-indexing on flying-types , but he has certainly made worse mistakes. He more than makes up for this by unlocking a powerful and unique transformation for his Greninja.
Because Ash advances all the way to the finals, many of the early rounds are shown off screen. The first full battle depicted, against Sawyer in the semifinals, is fairly competitive. Ash losing his fighting-type Hawlucha to a normal-type Slaking is a knock against him, but Sawyers strategy, which revolved around taking damage and returning twice as much, was sound.
Ashs most impressive feat in this match is the way he uses the battle arena. After realizing Sawyers Aegislash needs some time to prepare its defenses, Ash orders Pikachu to toss a piece of a chopped up tree at his opponent to disrupt that preparation. The disruption gives Pikachu the opening he needs to land a big Thunderbolt and remove one of Sawyers most dangerous threats.

Pokmon The Series: Ruby And Sapphire
Ash appeared with new clothing. He wore a black and red cap with a green Poké Ball on it, a blue sleeveless hoodie with gold trim and a white hood, a black short sleeve undershirt with a red stripe, black fingerless gloves with light green borders, light blue jeans, and blue sneakers.
Ash’s spiky hair is slightly short and his lighting bolt like markings are slightly short.
Pokmon The Series: Xy And Xyz
In the XY and XYZ, Ash wore a blue collared shirt with short sleeves and white trim, a black undershirt, darker blue jeans, a red and white hat, and red high top sneakers. Ash also wore the same fingerless gloves he wore in the Best Wishes series.
Ash’s body looks the same only that he has tufts of hair on each side of his head that covers the top of his ears. Also his Jolt – like marking underneath his eyes are smaller than usual.

How Pokmon Training Works Outside The Anime
Its easy to look down on Ashs performance. After all, he has lost so many Pokémon league tournaments that even The Pokémon Company International dedicated an entire article to his failures.
The comparison is even more bleak when stacked against competitive Pokémon trainers, who use every ounce of the communitys accumulated knowledge to reach skill levels that would blow the minds of the animes characters.
But before delving into that body of knowledge, its important to distinguish the two kinds of competitive Pokémon, which are very different.
The first is the competitive singles community, which pits teams of six Pokémon in battles just like you see in the games, with one Pokémon on the field at a time. These players mostly congregate at Smogon.com, a community and resource for Pokémon that groups monsters into tiers based on their usage in online battles. By dividing Pokémon up in this way, its easy to see who some of the lesser-used monsters can viably compete against, letting trainers know when they can actually use their weaker, but beloved, Pokémon.
Smogons tiers are unofficial, but they are the most widely recognized. The site also holds frequent leagues and tournaments that have their own specialized rules for trainers to test their mettle.
There Are Over 1000 Episodes
Pokémons anime started in 1997 to capitalize on the growing success of the video game series and at the time surely no one anticipated that Ash would still be on his adventures over 20 years later. The Pokémon anime has been broken up into seven different larger series that cover the growing scope of the games. These continuing series are divided into 23 different seasons and to date, there are 1132 episodes that have aired across the lot. Its a staggering achievement and theres even the recent Pokémon Chronicles spin-off anime, which looks at smaller and more tangential Pokémon stories.

Pokemon Journeys Reunites Ash With His Old Pokemon: Watch
Pokemon Journeys: The Series has finally reunited Ash Ketchum with all of his old Pokemon with the newest episode of the series! Pokemon Journeys debuted a special trailer earlier this Spring hyping a brand new arc featuring Mew and the Kanto region, and one of the biggest teases of this special trailer was the fact that Ash would be heading back to Professor Oak’s lab and reuniting with all of the Pokemon he had captured over the course of his very long adventure. Now the time has finally come with the newest episode aired in Japan.
Episode 68 of the series sees Ash and Goh heading to Professor Oak’s lab to pass on some materials from Professor Cerise, and it was here that Ash got to see some familiar faces with his return to the lab. This also further emphasizes the overall canon of Pokemon Journeys: The Series as it shows that Ash really did go on all of those adventures before his current travelling with Goh. One of the most iconic elements of the Pokémon franchise is the Pikachu character and its safe to say that people who have never even seen an episode of the anime still have a familiarity with the adorable creature.

Initially, Clefairy was set to be Ashs first Pokémon and his companion through his adventures, but at the last minute it was swapped to Pikachu due to the Pokémons growing popularity and how it has a greater appeal to both boys as well as girls. However, Clefairy remains the protagonists companion in the Pokémon Adventures manga.

Worlds Most Okay Trainer
Ash is good at a lot of things, tricking people into giving him badges for common decency and meeting legendary Pokémon. What he is not actually good at is being a great trainer. With so much training under his belt, it should be easy for him to understand that raising Pokémon and battling them is work. Somehow, he doesnt even remember that.
Whether it is trying to get his pokemon to learn a move they arent able to, or using pokemon with huge type disadvantages against an opponent, he has to relearn everything every season. Even worse, he is connected to Pikachu in this one regard because Pikachu resets to level 5 at the beginning of every season as well.

Who Is The Father Of Ash Ketchum
There are a plethora of mysteries still surrounding the now 800-strong world of Pokémon and its various regions, yet one glaringly important character still remains unknown: the father of Ash Ketchum.
Aside from stuff like “what happens inside of a Pokéball” and “why doesn’t Ash age,” one of the biggest unanswered questions and most sought after conspiracies behind the classic anime and video game, Pokémon, is the identity of Ash Ketchum’s father. We do know his mother is Delia Ketchum, a sincere, gentle, and always smiling saint of a woman still living in Pallet Town, but his father is only ever mentioned once. There are a many theories and a few hints as to who he may be, like a deceased Pokémon trainer or Professor Oak himself, but as you can see, not all of them are all that great. Despite this, some theories do offer us both a look into the Pokéworld, as well as at the people living inside of it.

Early Days: Kanto And Johto
Ashs first tournament run is baffling in many ways, and it establishes many of the problems that haunt him throughout his Pokémon training career.
The first issue crops up before he ever steps into an arena: his team is painfully unevolved. While Pikachu made a big fuss about never wanting to evolve when Ash earned his third gym badge, his Squirtle and Bulbasaur also remained in their base stages. And while Ash eventually ends up with a Kingler, it starts the Indigo Plateau Conference as a simple Krabby. As a result, his only fully evolved Pokémon going into the league are Charizard, Muk and 30 Tauros, which only has one form.
The Electric Tale Of Pikachu

Ash is a starring character in The Electric Tale of Pikachu, which is based on the anime. His journey follows roughly the same plot as in the anime: first traveling the Kanto region to participate in the Pokémon League, before embarking on a journey around the Orange Archipelago.

Ash wears a blue vest with yellow outlines, a white undershirt with short sleeves and a red stripe, indigo shorts with black outlines, and black sneakers with blue highlights. He also wears a red cap with a black Poké Ball design formed into the letter C. During his second visit to Galar, he wears a Dynamax Band on his right wrist which he obtains from Leon. Also, Ash sometimes returns to wearing his Z-Power Ring on his left wrist whenever he is battling in an important match, especially World Coordination Series battles.

It Was Only Supposed To Last One Season
Takeshi Shudo is the main creative force behind the scripts during the beginning of the Pokémon anime’s run. It’s common practice for any runaway success to get dragged out for as long as possible and it feels like they’ll continue to make Pokémon anime for as long as there are still games to cross-promote. Despite this, Shudo’s plan was for the anime to only originally span its first Kanto season and conclude with Ash’s victory as a Pokémon master. Pokémons success and the release of the next generation of games have pushed the anime to pivot and run indefinitely.

Who Is Ash Ketchum
Ash Ketchum, known in Japan as Satoshi , is the main character and protagonist of the Pokémon anime. He lives in Pallet Town with his mother and on the first day of his adventure, he sleeps in and arrives late to Professor Oaks laboratory so he does not receive his starter Pokémon. Seeing how desperate he was, Oak offered him a wild and untamed Pikachu he had in his lab and Ash gladly accepted.
Although Pikachu did not like Ash in the beginning and hurt him intentionally after Ash risked his own life to save Pikachus they became the best of friends and started their journey together through the different regions of the world of Pokémon.

Although he has seemingly not aged a day since his first day, Ash has changed a lot while travelling with Pikachu and his other friends his companions changed as the seasons went by. He caught a lot of different Pokémon, he fought a lot of hard battles, he helped save the world on several occasions and he has appeared in all episodes of the anime and all the related anime movies.
He can be described as a brave and sincere, sometimes gullible, and high-spirited boy. He knows the meaning of true friendship and is willing to sacrifice himself for the well-being of his friends and his Pokémon. He has proven this on several occasions as the anime developed and there is no doubt that our interpretation of the character is correct.
Ash’s Pokemon Teams Throughout The Regions
Over the years, Ash Ketchum has traveled to many different regions in the Pokemon world. Each new region brings a new generation of Pokemon with it and the anime features Ash and his pal Pikachu catching a new team of Pokemon with each new adventure.

Ash’s Pokemon team consists of Pokemon from his home region, Kanto. The team is well balanced and largely set the standard for Ash capturing a Fire, Water, Grass, and Flying-type in each region. Butterfree does eventually leave his team, but even with more Pokemon available Ash opts to only use his other five main Pokemon for most of his remaining time in Kanto. Pidgeot was also released to the wild in one of the very last Kanto episodes.
