Moves have different, set attack speeds.

Don’t let the Power listed on the move fool you. Generally, moves withhigher power will have slower attack speeds.

That isn’t to say each move has the same DPs: Water Gun for example is one of the best DPs moves you can use, whilst Thunder-Shock has the same attack speed but deals half as much damage.

You can even search for Pokémon by their specific star tier, just like how you can search for them by name. To do this, you’ll need to search:

• 0* = 0 Stars
• 3* = 3 Stars
• 4* = 3 Stars with a red background / 100% Pokémon

The new ranking system makes it a lot easier to decide which Pokémon are worth investing your Stardust and Candy in. Though it’s still important to remember a Pokémon’s rarity and whether it’s one of the best Pokémon in the game.

Though by and large the closer to 100% this is the better, depending on the Pokémon, some individual stats are more important than others – so it isn’t the be all and end all.

For example, if you have a Snorlax – one of the best creatures to put in a gym with its high health – with a low HP stat, that makes it a less attractive proposition. But then again, because it’s rare, you might not have any alternative Snorlax to rely on. Of course, an average Snorlax will still perform better than others in its field, so it could still be worth Powering up.

It is worth noting that IVs are number bonuses to your Pokémon’s base stats, so it will haev a more noticeable impact on lower CP and lower level Pokémon, but that’s not really where people are focusing their effort. Now, consider that it should be very easy to find yourself a 60%+ IV Pokémon and really it’s not too important to chase high IVs as the different between 60% and 100% would not likely be noticeable and very unlikely to be the different between a win or loss. You may just save seconds here and there.

First, for those who arent familiar with IVs, heres a quick breakdown. Every Pokemon in the game has individual values for their HP, Attack, and Defense stats. The maximum IV number is 15, and the closer each stat is to that maximum, the stronger it will be when compared to the same Pokemon at the same level.

These values cant change unless a Pokemon is traded and the numbers can only be found through a third-party app or appraisal.

Its also important to keep in mind that a low IV Mewtwo will still be much more useful and powerful than a Dunsparce with perfect IVs. Its best to use IVs as a way to decide which Bidoof youll evolve and power up and which one youll transfer for candies.
