Sticker Vibrance And Composition

When you first gaze upon your potential purchase, have a look at the game’s sticker.
Before clicking the “Buy Now” button, there are a few questions you should ask yourself:
- Does the sticker seem short or malaligned?
- Are the white strips at the top and bottom of the sticker unusually thick/thin?
- Are the colors vibrant?
- Is all of the text sharp?
- Are the fonts used similar to other games?
- Does the sticker look like other DS games you’ve seen online?
Because reproduction carts are, well, reproductions, it means that their imitations will never be perfect. Check the sticker for anything that seems off. If you’ve been collecting Nintendo DS and Pokémon games for some time, your tingly sticker senses should be firing off. Reproduction cart stickers, due to the low print quality, often feature blurry text and washed-out colors. If you’re unable to read what’s on the sticker, that’s an indication of the cartridge’s authenticity.
Solatorobo: Red The Hunter: $85
This gem is the spiritual successor to Tail Concerto which also happens to have a spot on our Rare and Valuable PS1 game guide. Solatorobo is a very beautiful and polished Action RPG with beatemup elements. The stunning graphics blend 2D and 3D elements to create a cohesive experience.
The game was published by X-Seed in rather limited quantities and also came along with a soundtrack CD. All this came packaged in an extra outer cardboard box. However, as you might expect, a lot of people didnt keep the CD handy, let alone the outer cardboard sleeve. So a mint, perfectly complete copy will most likely demand that $300+ price point. If you are looking to score this game, but really mostly care about the typical game case and cartridge, you can save some cash.
Solatorobo: Red The Hunter did have a lot of good reviews, but it didnt have a huge print run in North America

Japanese Promo Pikachu Illustrator
Sold in February, 2021 for $375,000
During the late 1990s, CoroCoro Comic, a Japanese manga magazine, held a series of illustration contests in which entrants submitted their own unique Pokémon designs and attacks.
Little did they know then that these contests would give rise to one of the rarest and most valuable of all Pokémon cards: the Pikachu Illustrator.
Not only did contest winners receive multiple copies of a card that featured their very own winning design, which was exciting in its own right, each of them also received a copy of the Pikachu Illustrator card as an additional prize.
On the card front, contestants received a special message:
We certify that your illustration is an excellent entry in the Pokémon Card Game Illust Contest. Therefore, we state that you are an Officially Authorized Pokémon Card Illustrator and admire your skill.
Just 39 copies were distributed to the contest winners, but anyone is welcome to guess how many still survive today.
Considering this example graded PSA 7 sold for $375,000, its highly likely wed see a price tag north of $1 million for the one example in the hobby graded PSA 10.
Is Pokemon Black Real
Pokémon Black is apparently a hacked, unofficial version of Pokémon Red, which Tiny Cartridges Eric Caoili describes as super creepy. After selecting your starter, if you looked at your Pokémon, you had in addition to Bulbasaur, Charmander, or Squirtle another Pokémon GHOST. The Pokémon was level 1.

Neo Genesis First Edition Holo Lugia
Sold in May, 2021 for $144,300
The 2000 Neo Genesis set was the first to feature second-generation Pokemon from the Gold and Silver video games that built off the massive success of the Red and Blue games.
And Lugia had the great fortune of being chosen as the character to be featured on the box art of the Pokemon Silver game.
Considering the massive boost in notoriety that Charizard and Blastoise received for being the box art characters for the Red and Blue games, respectively, the same is true for Lugia.
However, the difficulty of finding this card in top condition propels it even further into the upper echelons of expensive Pokemon cards.
Print issues are a problem for the entire Neo Genesis set, and the Lugia card is no exception.
Around 2% of the Lugias graded by PSA have received the PSA 10 grade, while even fewer BGS have received the BGS 10 Pristine label.
PSA 10 Lugias have sold for $76,000 and $129,000 before, but the BGS 10 brought home an even bigger price tag in May 2021 at $144,300.
The Color Of The Cart

As previously mentioned, the majority of Pokémon games on the Nintendo DS have IR functionality. Because these games rely on infrared light to communicate with technology like the Pokéwalker, their cartridges are made of a different material. Under normal conditions, these cartridges look black to the naked eye. Shine a bright light through them, though, and you’ll see that the material is a dark reddish purple in color.
Nintendo has never, ever produced a grey-cartridge version of the Generation 2 remakes or any of the Generation 5 games. Every IR-compatible Pokémon game has a reddish purple cartridge. Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver are some of the most popular games in the franchise, and can be quite expensive. If you’re looking for one of those games and it’s grey, stop. It’s fake. Don’t give your money to scammers unless you specifically wish to buy a reproduction copy. If you’re fine with buying a reproduced copy, take into account that these cartridges are not authorized by Nintendo and may not work as well as official copies do.

Pokemon Gold Silver And Crystal
Gen 2 had a tough act to follow but it did so supremely well. Despite being next to some of the most iconic in gaming history period, the Johto region lived up to fans expectations.
Much like Red, Blue and Yellow, they are still widely played today. Again though, finding a brand new copy of them wont come cheap.
They are apparently a little cheaper than the first games, however. One listing saw a sealed copy of Pokemon Silver sell for £480.
Prices are similar in North America too, with Silver and Gold selling for around $600 and Pokemon Crystal a little more at $700.
Dragon Quest Vi: Realms Of Revelation: $82
The Dragon Quest series has always had a relatively strong following in North America, but this is the first we can recall an entry in the series show up on one of our Rare and Valuable guides in a while.
This particular release is an enhanced remake of a Super Famicom title that never officially made it to North America before. The original SFC release is regarded as possibly one of the top 5 in the series and this remake received rather solid reviews overall.
While the series is huge in Japan, it didnt quite warrant a huge print run stateside. It seems like there is just starting to be slightly more demand than there is to supply.
Like many DS games, prices started int increase gradually in 2016 Dragon Quest VI, in particular was going for a $20 to $40 range, but started trending upward shortly after that.

What Is The Story Of Pokemon Black And White
The protagonist of Pokémon Black and White is a teenager who sets out on a journey through Unova to become the Pokémon master. The players primary goal is to obtain the eight Gym Badges of Unova and ultimately challenge the Elite Four of the Pokémon League, and its Champion, to complete the main story.

Pokemon Soulsilver & Heartgold Versions $80
Wal-Mart Special Editions $400-$825
Mainline Pokemon games are often making their mark on our Rare and Valuable guides and the SoulSilver and HeartGold hold up quite well against those peers despite being being more recent releases in an plentiful quantities.
The SoulSilver and HeartGold installments are quite popular entry points in the series as it has a classic feel to it while having some of the modern benefits of the newer title. Being on the DS also brings the series to a lot of players out there that are digging into the series
The game also had a Wal-Mart special edition that has a cardboard outer box with a figure and a pokewalker jacket. Having all that with the original packaging drastically increases the value of the game.
How Does The Reserved List Affect Black Lotus
If the cards are so powerful and worth so much money, why not just print more of them? This is one of the most heavily debated topics in the Magic: The Gathering world.
In July of 1995, the twelfth set of cards was printed into the game. The set is called Chronicles.
This set was different from all of the other sets printed before it because it created no new cards.
Every card printed in this set had already been introduced to the game years before. Chronicles was used as a way to alleviate the high demand and lows supply of the cards. This set printed 180 million more cards. If you wanted to get more cards into the hands of new players, this was the way to do it.
The problem with printing so many old cards to the market was that the old cards that had such a low supply and were collectible were now practically worthless.
The printing of these new cards made it so that the value of the old cards dropped in price. The people who were collecting these cards were very upset that the cards they were sitting on had lost value overnight. They cried out for a better reprint policy so that the cards that they had collected would not lose their value so fast.
As a direct result of the backlash of the reprints of Chronicles, Wizards of the Coast, the company that bought Magic: The Gathering from Richard Garfield, set up the Reserved List.
In 2010, Wizards of the Coast exploited a loophole in the reserved list by printing premium versions of cards that were on the Reserved List.

Commando: Steel Disaster: $27
This hidden gem draws a great deal of inspiration from SNKs iconic Metal Slug series and brings some interesting 2D run and gun goodness to the Nintendo portable. Granted, it might be rather frustrating for the average gamer and might not have the polish of the Metal Slug series, but its an interesting game for hardcore 2D fans to add to their library.
Up through the end of 2015, Commando: Steel Disaster was pretty much a bargain bin oddity. You could easily find loose cartridges under $10 and complete copies for $20 or so. Carts havent increased dramatically but collectors have started to realize how incredibly rare a mint, complete copy of this game really is.
There are eBay sellers asking $500 for complete copies , but the $200 to $250 price range is where we typically see complete copies move.

One of the coolest-looking of all Pokémon with its twin water cannons that retract from the shell on its back, Blastoise received a massive boost in popularity after serving as the cover mascot of the Pokémon Blue video game.
1st Edition Blastoise cards feature a first edition stamp to the lower left of the holographic image and no shadowing effect behind its right and bottom borders.
Out of the 2,070 first edition Blatoise cards submitted to PSA as of this writing, 100 of them have been given the PSA 10 distinction or roughly 4.8% of them.
