Transfer Pokemon From Pokemon Go To Pokemon Home

Pokemon Go has continued to remain a mainstay in the franchise after it became the gaming zeitgeist of 2016 at its release. But, with that many years of play comes an inevitable Pokemon storage issue.

Heres how to get your favorites from Pokemon Go over to Pokemon Home:

  • Open Settings.
  • Sign in to your Nintendo account associated with your Pokemon Home account.
  • Select Send Pokemon.
  • Select the Pokemon youd like to transfer away and hit Next.
  • Select Transport and watch them go!
  • You can do this initially with the Pokemon Go Transporter Device, coming with 10,000 energy, which is used for transfers. This recharges over time, but players who need to transfer a lot of characters quickly can also purchase energy with PokeCoins the in-game currency in Pokemon Go.

Trainers will also receive candy in Pokemon GO when transferring mon away to Pokemon Home, similar to a standard transfer in the game.

Receiving these in Pokemon Home is very simple. Players should be notified upon opening the app that a transfer has been initiated and a pop-up will prompt them to accept the transfer. The only hiccups that could arise would likely be due to a lack of box space, which can be cleared up, or theres the option of upgrading to the premium service.

Pokmon Go To Home Limitations Gigantamax Melmetal And Mystery Box Rewards And Other Things To Know About Transferring From Go To Home

There are a few other things to bear in mind when transferring Pokémon from Go to Home.

    • The first time you do so, you’ll recieve a Gigantamax Melmetal as a reward! You can claim it via the Mystery Gift function on the mobile version of Home only.
    • You’ll also be able to open a Mystery Box in Pokémon Go, causing Meltan to appear for a set period of time. More on that in our Melmetal and Mystery Boxes guide!
    • Not all Pokémon can be transferred from Go to Home. Specifically, you can’t transfer Spinda, Kyurem Black/White, any Shadow or Mega Evolved Pokémon, or any of the special event Pokémon that have an altered appearance, like Armoured Mewtwo, Party Hat Pikachu or the Flower Crown Eeveelutions.
    • Pokémon with different forms in Go will default to a specific form in Home . Specifically this will alter forms to:
      • Castform Sunny/Rainy/Snowy – Castform Normal

      • Genesect Burn/Chill/Douse/Shock – Genesect Normal
    • Certain Pokémon require you to have caught them or registered them in your Pokédex first, in order for you to transfer them from Home to Sword and Shield. In brief, these are all of the legendaries/mythicals catachable in Sword and Shield via Dynamax Adventures, plus Mew, Celebi, Jirachi, Victini and Genesect. You can view the full list in the Home mobile app by going to Help – Other – Pokémon you can send to other games.

This will involve the use of Pokémon Bank, the previous system used to store and trade Pokémon up until Gen 7. THIS FEATURE IS ONLY AVAILABLE WITH POKÉMON HOME’S PREMIUM PLAN.

You can find out more information on the official Pokémon Bank website, but as a rule, once you’ve moved Pokémon from earlier Gens to Pokémon Bank, they can’t be transferred back, so make sure you’re happy ‘losing’ them from your original games. The following infographic from the Pokémon Bank website shows which games permit deposits-only or deposits and withdrawals, but remember: TRANSFERS FROM POKÉMON BANK TO POKÉMON HOME ARE ONE-WAY ONLY:

The 3DS app has an annual fee of $4.99, but for the first month of Pokémon HOME, users can access Pokémon Bank free-of-charge, so there’s no time like the present if you’re eager to move all your Pokémon to the latest storage system.

How to Transfer Pokémon from Pokémon GO to Pokémon HOME ...

As you can see above, Pokémon HOME is fully compatible with Pokémon Sword and Shield – you can transfer your Pokémon to and from the app at will.

You can also transfer Pokémon between Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee! via Pokémon HOME, and transfer compatible Pokémon to from those games to Sword and Shield, although only monsters that are part of Pokémon Sword and Shield’s Galar Pokédex . Additionally, once they’re in Sword or Shield, they cannot then be transferred back to Let’s Go, Pikachu or Eevee.

Once transferred to Pokémon HOME, your Pokémon will be listed in the National Pokédex . Remember, Pokémon Sword and Shield has it’s own Pokédex and is not compatible with every single Pokémon, although with the additional Pokémon from the Expansion Passes, Sword and Shield will support over 600 Pokémon.

It is not currently possible to transfer Pokémon from Pokémon GO to Pokémon HOME, although the feature is coming. It should be noted that transferred Pokémon cannot be moved back to Pokémon GO once they have been moved to Pokémon HOME.

For previous generation games, all Pokémon must be transferred via Pokémon Bank on 3DS. While it is possible to transfer Gen 1 and Gen 2 Pokémon from the 3DS Virtual Console releases of the original Game Boy games , it is not possible to move Pokémon from original Game Boy cartridges to Pokémon HOME.

    Transfer From Pokmon Go

    Main article: GO Transporter

One-way transfers from Pokémon GO to HOME were made available on November 11, 2020 , using the GO Transporter feature from the settings menu. Each Pokémon, depending on various attributes, requires an amount of GO Transport Energy to transfer to Pokémon HOME, which can be regained by using PokéCoins or simply waiting.

Legendary and Mythical Pokémon that were transferred from Pokémon GO to Pokémon HOME can only be transferred to Pokémon Sword or Shield if that Pokémon has already been registered in the Pokédex or obtained at least once in that game. However, this restriction only applies to Legendary or Mythical Pokémon stored in the HOME account they were originally transferred to, meaning that if they are traded to a different HOME account then they will be transferrable into Pokémon Sword or Shield without needing to have been previously obtained. This restriction does not apply to Meltan and Melmetal.

Upon the first transfer, the player will also receive a Melmetal that can Gigantamax in Pokémon HOME.

If I Dont Have A Switch What Is The Point Of Transferring To Pokmon Home

    Nintendo details

At this point, You may be wondering what is the point of this whole process if you do not have a Nintendo Switch, and therefore, Pokémon Sword or Shield.

The answer is: With Pokémon HOME you can get a free Meltan box! Just as you read it. When you transfer Pokémon from Pokémon GO to Pokémon HOME, the service will reward you with a free Meltan box!!!

Of course, since the energy to transfer takes 7 days to recharge you will have to wait this time to transfer again and get another Meltan box. In this sense, the option of transfer through Pokémon Lets GO Pikachu and Lets Go Eevee is still valid since it takes much less time .

When the transfer is complete, you can go to Pokemon HOME to receive your Pokemon.

Pokémon HOME is an app for Nintendo Switch and mobile devices that enables you to transfer compatible Pokémon from multiple previous games using the existing Pokémon Bank app to Pokémon Sword and Shield. Pokmon Go Connectivity With Pokmon Home Is Now Live

Transferring monsters from Pokémon GO to Pokémon HOME is now available to players of all levels, but the cooldown time is still unacceptable.

The long-awaited update allowing Pokémon GO to connect with Pokémon HOME has finally been made available to all players regardless of their trainer level. Before today, only trainers who were higher trainer levels were able to transfer their Pokémon, but making it available to all players only fixes one of the many flaws that the underwhelming feature has.

Niantic shadow dropped the Pokémon GO compatibility update for HOME on November 11, and players were almost instantly disappointed. The feature was only available to level 40 players at first, and players could only transfer a limited number of Pokémon before they would have to recharge their Pokémon Transporter. This could be done by either waiting for the cooldown timer to expire or by paying money for Pokécoins. The only issue is that only 60 energy recharges per hour, and some Pokémon require 2,000 to 9,000 energy to transfer.

How To Send Pokmon From Pokmon Go

Now we get to the interesting part. We have our account linked and we have our Pokémon in mind for the transfer. All ready then? Lets take action. Of course, try to make sure that your Pokémon HOME boxes are not full .

For each Pokémon you send with the GO Transporter, you will spend GO Transporter Energy. The GO Transporter is a new artifact that will be available the minute we link the Pokémon GO and Pokémon Home accounts, and with which we will do all the magic of transferring Pokémon.

We start with 10,000 energy for the GO Transporter, and it is spent as we transfer Pokémon. The GO Transporter recovers 60 energy for every hour that passes, so if you have used up all the energy, it will fill up completely again in 7 days after you transfer Pokémon. Some Pokémon cost more energy than others, so here is a table so you can see how much energy each Pokémon consumes.
