Holographic Shadowless Blastoise: $2475
Out of the three final-evolution Kanto starters, it’s Blastoise who has the least valuable Shadowless holographic card, reaching heights of $2475 on Pokemon Prices. We say “least valuable”, but that’s still a lot of money for just the one card, and its hardly far behind its sibling Venusaur.
That’s if Blastoise is still in mint condition, of course, which is a big ask considering these cards are over 20 years old. Carrying the powerful Water-type move Hydro Pump, this version of Blastoise was a pretty impressive card to carry in your deck back in the day, but at this point its still a solid collectible card.
Pokemon French First Edition Dracaufeu
Sold in February, 2021 for $37,300
The First Edition Dracaufeu, or the French name for Charizard, is also relatively easier to find in PSA 10 condition than the English version.
Though only 28 examples have achieved that grade, PSA has only graded 382 overall, meaning that roughly 7% of them are PSA 10s.
Mint 1st Edition Shadowless Holographic Charizard

The 1st Edition Shadowless Holographic Charizard in mint condition may not necessarily be the rarest Pokémon card on this list, but Charizard has been a longtime fan favorite. This popularity had resulted in intense sales of any mint condition 1st Edition Shadowless Holographic Charizard cards. Over the past few years, these cards have been raking in hundreds of thousands of dollars.
In December 2020, Goldin Auctions privately sold a mint condition 1st Edition Shadowless Holographic Charizard for a record $369,000! A month before, a similar 1st Edition Charizard sold for $350,000. These high sales have not slowed down in 2021, as yet another mint condition 1st Edition Shadowless Charizard sold for over $300K.

Magicians Force Dark Magician Girl #000
An iconic Yu-Gi-Oh! monster that ranks as among its most popular and valuable cards

One of Yugis most treasured cards, the Dark Magician Girl is adored by fans worldwide and equally highly valued. The level 6 card, which boasts a solid 2000 attack and 1700 defence points, significantly aided Yugi during her anime debut in episode 62 the conclusion of a high-stakes three-episode duel which saw Yugi face off against a malevolent magician named Arkana.
The Dark Magician Girl was first released in the TCG as part of the North American-only set Magicians Force in October 2003, a 108-card set that focused on providing support to Spellcasters. The rest of the TCG world would have to wait until October 2005 to attempt to pull the rare Dark Magician Girl, where Magicians Force was one of the booster packs in the compilation set Master Collection Volume 2.
The Dark Magician Girl is also notable for the censoring she had while making her move to the West from Japan, with many content edits in both the TCG and anime. This has resulted in several variants of the card artwork, but it is the original one that sells for the most, with a PSA Gem Mint 10 first-edition 2003 MFC Dark Magician Girl #000 selling for $9,100 in November 2020.

Ex Dragon Frontiers Gold Star Charizard
Despite being printed in 2006, a Gold Star Charizard managed to bring in an incredible $60,066 at auction not too long ago. The Delta Species card was sold through eBay in October 2020 and attracted interest from a number of interested parties before the final sale price was finally confirmed.
According to the PSA website, there are just shy of 1,500 graded copies of the card in existence, although only 59 of those have been awarded the coveted GEM-MT 10 rating. Unsurprisingly, perhaps, the record-setting sale was of one of these 59 cards. Others regularly sell for between twenty and thirty thousand dollars.
Neo Genesis 1st Edition Holo Lugia Card
As one of the most iconic Pokemon of the Johto region, Lugia rivals even Kanto starter evolutions like Charizard in value. More specifically, PSA records show that the first-edition holographic Lugia from the Neo Genesis collection routinely sells for thousands of dollars. The card was produced in 2000, the year after the release of Pokemon Silver and Gold, and is no longer sold in stores. The legendary bird appears in Johto region artwork and games, and even stars in its own movie.
A PWCC listing description reports PSA scored only 41 of these cards as PSA 10 out of the 1100+ submitted. PWCC auctioned one gem mint condition card for $129,000 in November 2020. An independent seller posted another PSA 10 card for $135,000 in January 2021. While there aren’t very many Neo Genesis Lugias on the market, they out-populate other rare cards like Trophy Cards.

Japanese Pokmon Promo Card: Illustrator Pikachu: Psa 7

Limited edition promotional cards, such as this illustrator Pokémon card, can command huge fees.
According to PWCC, approximately only 40 of these cards were created, to be distributed during competitions held in Japan where contestants were asked to create their own Pokémon cards.
Winners received custom printed cards featuring their original artwork as well as this rare Illustrator Pikachu card as a trophy.
Pokmon Base Set 1st Edition Shadowless Holo Nidoking #11
A dual-type poison and ground Pokémon that is the evolved form of Nidoran, Nidoking is classed as a grass-type for the purposes of this card.
This means that it comes wrapped in the green background you would expect, although the foil is more reminiscent of a burning flame thanks to the orange and yellow that sparkles.
It might not have been the most popular Pokémon when it was originally released, but its one of the more valuable in the present day.
Just 90 have earned the elusive gem mint grade from PSA.

Family Event Trophy Card
Sold for $150,100
Just 3 copies of this Pokemon card have ever been sold in the two-plus decades, making it one of the rarest cards ever produced. This valuable card was handed out to individuals who took part in the 1998 parent and child Pokemon tournament conducted in Japan. Those who racked up the most wins during the Mega Battle tournament were given this special trophy card.
Trophy Pikachu Trainer No 1 Card
Number in existence: Rumored to be only 4 in existence.
Where they came from: Tournament prize.
Significance: If you had one of these cards, you could gain entry into a future competition. This card was the first place prize, there are also Trophy Pikachu cards for 2nd and 3rd place.
Estimated value: A 1998 version sold for $7,999 in 2011, and the 1997 edition is more valuable. Its estimated to be worth around $50,000 per PSA.

These cards have been reprinted a number of times, and sets featuring cards 1, 2, and 3 have been listed for sale for upwards of half a million dollars, but theres a big difference between the asking price and what they actually sell for.
The silver and bronze place cards are easier to come by, since first place winners are less likely to sell their trophy cards.

Pokemon Japanese Base Set Holo No Rarity Symbol Holo Charizard
Sold in November, 2020 for $57,877
The 1996 Japanese “No Rarity” Charizard card is a true piece of hobby history as it marked one of the first appearances of the iconic character.
Most Japanese base set cards will contain a “rarity symbol” in the lower-right corner of the card that varies based on the card type.
Holographic cards in the set feature a star symbol, so if you find one without the rarity symbol, then you know you’re looking at the more rare, first-print “no rarity” Charizards.
The “no rarity” Charizards are much more difficult to find as PSA has graded 3,634 regular base set Charizards compared with only 273 “no rarity” Charizards.
Furthermore, roughly 14% of the regular base Charizards have achieved a PSA 10 grade compared to less than 2% of the “no rarity” Charizards.

For many Pokemon card collectors, it doesnt get any better than the Base Set which made its North American debut in 1999. Not only does it feature some of the TCG series most iconic artwork, but there is also a ton of nostalgia players have connected to the release.
As a result, Pokemon cards from the release have seen the most explosion in value over the last decade. While not a heavy-hitter in the franchise itself, fans have been going wild for the adorable Chansey #3 Pokemon card. So much so that its surprised industry veterans when it started fetching jaw-dropping prices.
While hovering around $20k since 2019, the collectibles value has only continued to grow. According to PWCC, a 1st Edition Shadowless version sold for $36,877 in a November 2020 auction.

Ex Deoxys Gold Star Rayquaza
Sold in December, 2020 for $45,100
Among the most powerful of any Pokémon, Rayquaza is a large, serpentine creature that gained a considerable boost in notoriety after serving as the box art mascot for the Pokémon Emerald video game.
EX Deoxys was the 24th set in the Pokémon Trading Card Game, and its symbol is that of a shooting star.
The set consisted of 108 cards, three of which come with a gold star variant, including the Rayquaza Holo.
You’ll notice that next to the “Rayquaza” name in the upper-left, there is a foil gold star that sets it apart as the gold star variant.
Pokemon Pop Series 5 Gold Star Espeon

Like its Umbreon counterpart that we covered a little bit ago, the 2007 POP Series 5 Gold Star Espeon is one of the two most-desired cards in the 17-card promotional set.
The Gold Star symbol next to the character’s name in the upper-left side of the card denotes the increased rarity of the card.
Masakazu Fukuda mixed an intense color scheme with a striking outline of Espeon to deliver a fantastic card with tremendous eye appeal.

Super Secret Battle No 1 Trainer
The answer to “What’s the rarest Pokémon card of all time?”

Its unlikely youve heard of Super Secret Battle No. 1 Trainer, and extremely unlikely youve ever seen a copy in person. When it comes to rare Pokémon cards, there are very few cards rarer than this.
No. 1 Trainer is a holographic promotional card awarded to finalists in the Secret Super Battle tournament held in Tokyo, Japan in 1999. To earn a place in the competitions finals, which were held in a secret location, players had to first win a regional tournament. Their prize was the No. 1 Trainer card, which granted them access to the finals.
The cards text translates to: The Pokémon Card Game Official Tournament’s champion is recognised here, and this honour is praised. By presenting this card, you may gain preferential entry into the Secret Super Battle. The card features the Japanese logo for the Pocket Monsters Trading Card Game, along with artwork of original generation Pokémon Mewtwo by illustrator Hideki Kazama.
This is a card so rare and valuable that Indiana Jones probably had to escape a crumbling temple with it at some point. Its counterpart cards No.2 Trainer and No. 3 Trainer, similarly awarded to winners in Japanese Pokémon tournaments during the late 1990s, are almost as rare and valuable.
Japanese Promo Card Holo Illustrator Pikachu

What makes it special: As the most popular and well-known Pokémon character, its no surprise that Pikachu tops the list of most valuable Pokémon cards. Only 39 Illustrator Pikachu cards were given out to the winners of three art competitions conducted by CoroCoro Comic magazine.
Competitors created their own Pokémon art, and winners received this Pikachu card, showing the character drawing two other Pokémon Charmander and Mew. This artwork was created by Atsuko Nishida, who designed Pikachu for the Game Boy Advance.
Specifics of the particular sale: The PSA rated this card as near mint condition grade seven, which is coded as PSA 7 NRMT.

Pokémon cards are more popular than ever, so do you have some hidden treasures in your collection?

With the Pokémon Trading Card Game’s popularity at an all-time high, people are rushing to their old collections and hoping to find a few treasures they can sell. You see stories of cards being flipped for five or even six digits online with alarming regularity, causing the COVID-19 pandemic’s equivalent of a gold rush.
However, if you’re a casual fan digging out their old binders, there is a slim chance you’ll find any of those mythical best-sellers in your collection. While paying off your mortgage from one card may be all but impossible, you can still make a healthy profit. With that in mind, here are the top ten most valuable Pokémon cards that you might actually own.
To work this out, I went through every single Pokémon set on TCGPlayer’s price database and noted every single card worth with a market value of more than $100. I then removed all promotional cards, including tournament prizes, limited editions, and gift cards given to the game’s staff. While these can be worth a lot, it is very unlikely someone is going to have them sitting under their bed and simply not know about it.

Tropical Mega Battle Trainer No 2

The Tropical Mega Battle was annual event that took place in Hawaii between 1999 2001. Due to the tournament only lasting a few years, the eight limited edition cards that were given to tournament winners of the inaugural event are incredibly rare. Currently, Trainer No. 2 seems to be the rarest of the lot as only five cards have been professionally authenticated/graded, and only one has been sold. The only Trainer No. 2 sold fetched $50,300 on eBay in October 2020.

Japan World Championship Master Key Trophy Card

As one of the L-P Promotional cards, this particular card was given to competitors from every age division, 8 in juniors, 6 in seniors, 6 in masters and 16 in video game category.
The competition was held in the 2010 Japanese World Championships held at the Hilton Waikoloa Village hotel in Hawaii from August 13th to 15th.
Due to the number of competitors known to be at the tournament, it is estimated that there are only 36 of these cards in the wild.

Some of you may already know, but I have a personal connection with this card as I was part of the team that brokered the selling of this card multiple times.
In Mid 2020, we broke a world record by selling one of these Pikachu Illustrator cards for $233,000 which at the time solidified the Pikachu Illustrator card as the worlds most expensive Pokemon card.
Shortly afterward, Pokemon cards saw a huge spike in popularity and we began to see the price of cards skyrocket. Our world record was short-lived as new sale records were being set on almost a monthly basis as Pokemon continued to ride its resurging wave of popularity.
In November 2020, we helped sell our 3rd Pikachu illustrator card for another, short-lived, world record-breaking $360,000 .
Did You know?: Its rumored that there may only be 10 of these cards still surviving from the printedoriginal print run.
My only regret is due to the security we hired to keep these cards safe during transportation, not even I was allowed close enough to have my photo taken with any of the cards, but you know what they say 4th times the charm!
Expect this Pikachu card to keep shocking us with just how much it raises in value in the future, but I would maybe hold off on paying the $3,000,000 asking price of this live listing.

Pokmon Topsun 1995 First Edition Charizard
The Pokémon Topsun cards are slightly different from all the cards mentioned above. Back in 1997, you were able to purchase a pack with gum that included two cards featuring Pokémon. These cards are the first-ever Pokémon cards printed.
The reason Charizard is the most valuable is due to its cracked ice pattern holo background and its rarity. PSA has seen 79 of the cards and graded only 16 as being PSA 10 condition. According to PSAcard.com, the cards are known to go for up to $10,000.
