What Is Meltan And The Mystery Box

Pokémon HOME is a cloud based storage system for Pokémon caught in the many Pokémon games. It works with the core Pokémon games, Pokémon Bank, and now, Pokémon Go. However, there are some limitations as to what can and cannot be transferred, how many Pokémon you can store, and where those Pokémon can be transferred after they’re in your Pokémon HOME account. For the time being, while you can transfer Pokémon in from the core games, Pokémon Bank, and Pokémon Go, Pokémon can only be transferred out to Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, and only if those species are available in the Galar region Pokédex or Pokémon added with the DLC expansion pass, Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra.
Pokemon Go Mystery Box Explained
It used to be the case that you needed to own Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu or Eevee to get the Mystery Box, but thanks to the introduction of Pokemon Home, you can get a Mystery Box and have a chance at shiny Meltan without forking out for a Nintendo Switch.
To begin with you need to link your Pokemon Go account to Pokemon Home, so on the same device you use for Pokemon Go, download Pokemon Home from your respective app store. Set everything up then switch to Pokemon Go.
Tap the Poke Ball icon to bring up the menu, go into the settings by tapping the cog in the top right corner, then scroll right to the bottom and tap on Pokemon Home. Sign in with your Nintendo Account and the pair will be linked.
Now to get the Mystery Box, you simply need to transfer a Pokemon from Pokemon Go to Pokemon Home. While in the Pokemon Home section of Pokemon Go, tap Send Pokemon and pick one of your least important critters that you don’t mind getting rid of.
When complete and you’ve received the Pokemon in Pokemon Home, you’ll get the Pokemon Go Mystery Box! That’s all there is to it in order to receive the Mystery Box. Open it in your bag to cause Meltans to spawn frequently for 30 minutes, but to then use the Mystery Box again, you have to wait seven days and repeat the process of transferring a Pokemon. Niantic has now expanded the process to include transferring Pocket Monsters from Pokemon Go, to Pokemon Home. So during the new event, you can obtain the Mystery Box by sending a Pokémon from Pokémon GO to Pokémon: Lets Go, Pikachu!, Pokémon: Lets Go, Eevee!, or Pokémon HOME.
Once youve activated the Mystery Box, youll have to wait three days and send another Pokémon to Pokémon: Lets Go, Pikachu!, Pokémon: Lets Go, Eevee!, or Pokémon HOME before you can activate it again, regardless of how you obtained it.

We break those down below, but before that we wanted to explain just what the Mystery Box is, in case this is your first time using it. In short, opening the Mystery Box acts like a Meltan-only Incense. Once open you will have 60 minutes where Meltan will appear near you about every minute and a half. So by focusing on catching them quickly you can end up with over 15 Meltan and a bunch of Candy. But how do you use it? First, it needs to be charged, or recharged.
How To Get Pokemon Go Mystery Box Fifth Anniversary
To get a Mystery Box in Pokemon Go during the fifth anniversary celebration, youll need to have a Nintendo Switch and a copy of Pokemon Lets Go Eevee or Pikachu. Why? Because the only real way to obtain the Mysterious Boxes is to transfer any creature from Pokemon Go to Pokemon Lets Go . Once you have all that settled, and before you make the transfer, be sure to stock up on PokeBalls just in case. Then, complete the transfer and youll get a Pokemon Go Mystery Box on your account. As soon as you open it, a wild Meltan should appear next to your avatar. All thats left to do is capture it. As far as we know, that is the only way to get Meltan in Pokemon Go and eventually evolve it into Melmetal.
What makes things a little bit more complicated is that you can only obtain a Mystery Box every three days, and only during certain events. In the case of the fifth anniversary of Pokemon Go, youll be able to get the boxes from July 6 to July 15. So, ideally, thats three opportunities to get your hands on a Meltan.
